  • They say practice makes perfect and though I don't believe in the idea of doing something perfectly, I do believe that practice is not only helpful in growing our skills, but it can also be good to use it for experimentation and play as well. And by approaching anything in this way, it usually ends up being fun as well.

    Friend, you partly titled your second intuitive watercolor “…from blah to yeah”. Well, on the last few uploads you’ve shown incredible maturity and talent and have gone “from yeah to Wow!!!”. You are talented and relentless in your pursuit of art zen. And we are all so lucky to witness and appreciate it all. Thank for your kindness.

    ❤❤❤ (BTW blue is one of my favorite colors. I like to play around with copper metallics when I am painting - especially when using blues - it's just one of my favorite color combos, but I love how this gold pops as well. I have gold, I just need to use it more....and I need to get some of that iridescent green paint that you use. It is quite beautiful.)
    I love all of the different watercolor effects you used for each square/rectangle. This makes me think of swatching watercolors but obviously on another level...now I want to play around with my colors in this way. I think it would be lots of fun to create art like this as well as give me something to do on days when I am not feeling in the mood for art but still want to play around with colors - if you know what I mean.

    • @gabrielleannacormierart
      @gabrielleannacormierart  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Angela ❤️🤗 I always say green is my favorite color, but blue is definitely a very close second because it makes it into most of my paintings ☺️ That iridescent interference green is beautiful indeed and just a heads up that Kremer Pigments also makes an interference color called Ultra Rutile Blue Pearl that is equally beautiful (and fast becoming one of my favs.)
      I totally get what you're saying about not always having the oomph to create - "swatching" is a great way to play with color, marks, etc without committing to something bigger. I have these days too and when I do, I like to explore in this way as well.
      Thank you so much for making the time to connect with me! Happy creating 🎨

    Blue! My favourite colour in all its shades! Thank you for another ‘brilliant’ video (…the English meaning skilled, excellent but also full of light and shining). I love the way that each mini painting has its own place in the creation..and deserves its own individual attention as much as an appreciation of the whole. It looks to me like a stained glass window with each frame looking through to a different imaginary location! I like to play with ideas and styles and have a box of small painting experiments that I sift through when I want inspiration. Because they are small I am happier to try different things and just see how they turn out. Have a beautiful week! 💙xx

    @gabrielleannacormierart have you considered using the 3M painters washi tape for delicate surfaces for the borders? I pull off a length and stick it to my cutting board, aligning it with grid. Then cut the wide tape into strips with a ruler and blade. I use about 6mm strips for my A6 journal. For your grid lay down the long strips first, then the short strips , using scissors to trim the end if needed.

    Voilà un exercice particulièrement interessant, Gabrielle. J'aime surtout la partie peinture. As-tu remarqué le nombre de bleus sur ta palette ? D'ailleurs la plupart du temps tu commences avec du bleu. La partie tracés est plus difficile pour moi, je ne sais pas trop quoi faire et à quel emplacement, ce n'est donc plus si amusant à ce stade. Quel est le format de ton papier ? Je crois que ça ne peut être réussi qu'avec du papier coton. Merci pour cette excellente démonstration.🙂

    • @gabrielleannacormierart
      @gabrielleannacormierart  11 месяцев назад

      Merci beaucoup Martine ❤️🤗 J’aime beaucoup les teintes de bleus et c’est sans doute pourquoi j’en ai autant 😁 Pour cet exercice, mon papier mesurait 6 par 8 pouces 😉 En utilisant une règle et un crayon, j’ai dessiné des rectangles de différentes grandeurs en essayant de ne pas répéter les mêmes dimensions trop souvent.

    Beautiful. Gonna leave all the framing white, then cut each of the larger rectangles to make them greeting card front size & affix to card stock, then give to a friend whose fave color is blue so she can have a homemade set of greeting cards. I'll do my own version in each rectangle rather than replicate yours, but you've certainly provided a whole bunch of inspiration !!! ;-)

      Thank you so much ❤️ I use a UV protectant fixative spray. I've seen other people use wax and even matte medium. Since watercolor is not indelible, I think it might be wise to apply a light coat of a fixative before applying something that needs to be rubbed in. But, I've never used wax or matte medium for this purpose so I can't say for sure. The fixative seems to work well however. Many artists prefer to not put anything over their watercolor paintings and frame their artwork in a frame with glass. I think it really depends on your own personal preferences 😉 I hope this helps!

    How do uou stop your paper from buckling?

    • @gabrielleannacormierart
      @gabrielleannacormierart  10 месяцев назад +1

      Usually, taping the paper down to a solid surface and not removing the tape until the paper is completely dry will help with this. When I have a little bit of buckling left after removing the tape, I can usually iron it out. (I place the painting upside down inside an old pillowcase and use my steam iron to get rid of the buckling. Then I stack books on top and let the painting sit for at least 24 hours. This works really well.) I hope this helps ☺️
