This haunting song was the first of four songs on the 1962 French EP 'Marlène' (La Voix De Son Maître 7 EGF 597), that also included the songs: 'Où Vont Les Fleurs (Where Have All The Flowers Gone)', (and on the B-side) 'Marie, Marie' and 'Déjeuner Du Matin' with orchestration directed by (and arranged by?) Burt Bacharach. This EP is also the first time Marlene Dietrich released 'Où Vont Les Fleurs', as the misidentified 'single' on Wikipedia was actually the German compilation "Unter Den Dächern Von Paris (Sous Les Toits De Paris)" (Columbia 83 469), which only included the Dietrich performance 'Où Vont Les Fleurs'. The only Dietrich single to feature the song was a German version of Peter Seeger's 'Where Have All The Flowers Gone' released in 1962 as 'Sag mir wo die Blumen sind (Where Have All The Flowers Gone)' b/w 'Die Welt war jung (Le Chevalier de Paris)' (Electrola E 22 180).
thank you very much . I have never see this..... the recording I have and have thought it was very beautiful and a considerate orchestration. I was fortunate to see Marlene in concert 6 times in (1973 and 1975). She was extraordinary to see `live` in a theatre. The highlight of so many songs was `WHITE GRASS`. In 1975 she opened in top hat and tails for a short opening segment and then reappeared in the magnificent gown. I still treasure the brochure she graciously signed for me in 1973 and I kissed her. Forget all the stories of dimmed lighting and rudeness. Marlene was one of the most accomplished artists I have ever seen. She emerged from the stage door in a white trouser suit, gracious, and charming especially to a 16 year old schoolboy, as I was then. A few minutes to treasure for always. The brochure is signed simply` Dietrich`.
I would have loved to be there She was in my town 1973 and l Would have loved to see her She was one of the leading Celebrity,s of 30 century She was glamour and a Good girl she never fell for hitler and the nazi God bless her rest in peace
Thank you posting this WONDERFUL set of clips. sooooo beautiful. There was one famous Dietrich's song about her travel. I dont remember the name, but she list the countries as: Deutschland, Frankreich, London, Island (Iceland)....etc. Would you happen to have that?
Ищи розу. В пустыне, в тюрьме за решеткой, на старом кладбище, в трущобах, на мостовой среди булыжников. Ищи розу. И даже если не найдешь, ты хотя бы искал. Ищи розу 🌹
