Haven’t watched this in 13 years and it brings back memories! Went off COB these last few years but Alexi’s passing really brings home how much they meant to me in my teenage years. RIP dude.
Dude seriously...I kinda fell off the wagon after AYDY. Checked out the records after but didn't feel the same connection as the first 4. I have posters of Alexi on my walls since like 05 still on my wall in the same place they've been 15 years. Thought Hexed was phenomenal and piqued my interest again but by then it was far too late 😔

This Band had a huge impact on my life especially in my younger years, I was maybe 15 when I first heard them and as a young metalhead and guitarist, Alexi blew my mind, I would listen to him play and always dreamed that some day I would be able to play like him, his leads and solos are not only very technical and difficult to play but could have been written by a classical composer. such an unreal amount of talent. I also struggle with much of the same issues that sadly ended his life, I hope I don't meet the same fate as he did but its no joke once this type of stuff gets out of hand. I only found out he died a few days ago and it really hit me hard. one of the most talented guitarists to ever live.

@atvena I agree. Mega talented. His inspiration was Jens Johansson. One of my fav keyboardists. He'll end up the same way if he don't slow down. Such a pity....

Never was a huge CoB fan, but I've always appreciated his talent. Im more into the Swedish Melo Death, and a forms of black metal. Some of the best black metal bands are from Finland. CoB definitely stood out amongst the Scandinavian Metal scene in general. He created some great technical melodic metal. They do things differently in Scandinavia, the Govs actually support and encourage the children to learn music at an early age. It's also a huge contribution as to why there's so many great metal bands throughout Scandinavia. It sucks that he passed, but I'm also really convinced that Keith Richards will out live every musician ever! The man has probably went through 5 livers by now! He has to practice some kind of sorcery. The man has binged with the best of them, alcohol, cocaine, heroin you name it. He's been strung out on them all. He's managed to outlive a lot of musicians who haven't lived half the life of Kieth Richards. Him and Ozzy shall live forever! Alexi had a good run, and Ive only truly came to the realization how much of an influence his playing has been for ppl. He was truly gifted..
Saw these metal warriors with In Flames , Megadeth, and Job for a Cowboy. Never seen a better guitarist/performer before or since. RIP and Thank you Alexi.

Man, I can't believe another influential musician and guitarist has passed away. I'm not sure what he passed away from but it said health issues but I wonder if it's alcohol related? In recent years as I would see interviews of Alexi I always thought to myself that he looks sick, or something wasn't right w/ him health wise. My first "real" guitar was in 2007 I got a LTD alexi-600 black w/ solid yellow around the wings of the V. I actually had no idea who he was I just thought the guitar looked awesome when I saw the guitarist from Animosity using it. I asked their guitarist Frank Costa he told me it's Alexi's new signature model. I got the guitar as a graduation present. I looked up Alexi and COB and I instantly recognized them because Dustin Dollin used their song, Downfall, for his skate part in Baker3. I been a fan of Alexi ever since. Shred in Peace, brother.🤘🏾🎸🍻

Alexi lived the rockstar lifestyle. Live fast, die young describes his life perfectly. Follow the Reaper is my favorite album from COB. Just a perfect fuse between their earlier neo classical thrash metal roots and the later melodic death metal/death core we hear on their later albums. It was probably the album where the band were at the top of their game in terms of chops as well.
