That is a fabulous job. Please give him my appreciation for the job he did. It could of gone horribly wrong. But his steady hand to remove the brick and then pointing skills were were very good. Really enjoyed this video. 👍🇬🇧
Christopher Crawford could’ve, could have or could of! Who cares! Why does it even matter? It’s not life or death! It’s not an important document! It’s RUclips and he has an amazing comment and your trying to ruin it! Unbelievable! 👋🏻 dope slap to the forehead🤦🏻♂️ 😂🤣😂🤣
I love how in all these videos everyone is so polite, realy makes you feel good inside to see people being kind and helping each other out within there different trades.
This makes me feel so good. I’m so happy he was able to save that old fireplace. And that the owner cared enough to do so. Keep these old structures alive and functional, I love it.
There are so few who go into the masonry craft let alone those who really develop the knowledge & skills of the trade for common present day let alone historical craftsmanship. Really commendable Mark and thanks for constantly bringing awareness to the trade and your personal experience. People too often take for granted the incredible craftsmanship and design of masonry until it is decrepit or gone. It's difficult to walk around historical Boston, NY City and so many other places and not be amazed by the masonry craftsmanship that adorn so many structures.
That was really fantastic! I expected the video to simply end with the repaired areas, but instead he beautifully retuned it to look as it would have been when first completed! That's not just talent but a love of the work you do.
Three to one mix seems a bit strong to me. I would have used four or five to one. You want the mortar to hold everything in place but be weaker than the bricks. Restoring in the U.K. we use lime mortar, no cement, for exactly this reason. Lovely fireplace 👍🏼
I am restoring a n 1890’s Historic home in Texas which has settled and one of the fireplaces has major breakage but I want to restore it. I am searching for someone who is a mason and knows how to restore old fireplaces.
I've been looking for information on how a two story building would have a fire place in the bottom and top room and share the same chimney like those built back in the old days
Much better than the last two fireplace videos... They didn't ruin it by painting it white this time. 👍
This was a particularly good episode.
Completely agree!!! This guy is goooooood
That is a fabulous job.
Please give him my appreciation for the job he did.

Awesome work Mark! That thing was really gooberd up. You made it look killer!
He went the extra mile touching up all the joints. Great work!

People are always nice when they need something and a camera is on
I´m starting to like Marks videos more and more, he´s a great craftsman
True craftsmanship a forgotten trade in America 🇺🇸
Wow, Thats really a quality job he did.
Beyond doubt, one of my favorite TOH videos. D'salute to the craftsmen of yore, and those who respect what they did day after day!
This makes me feel so good. I’m so happy he was able to save that old fireplace. And that the owner cared enough to do so. Keep these old structures alive and functional, I love it.
Now that's TALENT....and patience...lots of patience.
My inlaws have almost the same brick fireplace. Still in great shape.

At first when I met mark I thought he didn’t know what he was doing but he does an amazing job. I regret doubting him
Mark is a great New addition. Nice job.

Great Job Mark! Thanks for having me in Bawb! 😊
I don't know why but this made me so happy watching. It's so satisfying.
This guy is the absolute best addition to TOH
Awesome! Wunderbar! And thanks for complimenting the original craftsmanship.
To have TOH do it...free. To have you local specialty mason do it.....$4,600. To watch TOH do it....priceless!
Beautiful fireplace and great rehab by Mark.
once in a lifetime project. They aren't made like that any more.
Luckily

"For instance Bawb" I wish I had a cool accent!
Wow...
Good work !!!
Phenomenal!
Perfect..
Stunning work. This is why you need to hire a professional who knows his stuff.
I'm 30 years old and I still think of my.father yelling at me for improper use of his good yellow handle chisels
I cringed at the use of the wood chisel too! But then again, I've converted old wood chisels for different uses too..
Such great work !!!
Great job 👍
Almost perfect
Is me or dose the guy in the blue shirt looks like Lary David 😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣🤣
Curb your enthusiasm ;) Absolutely amazing home 🏡
Wow.
Was hoping he would fix the bulge in the column but I guess it was just to risky. Still a great job!
Just guessing, but both sides look to have the same slight bulge. Maybe it was designed that way.
I got to say, excellent job...
WOW!!!! Awesome job!
Nice fireplace!
"almost perfect " /facepalm.
it is perfect.
Wow, Mark is working on one of Bernie Sanders many mansions !! Very nice work also.
Nice

LOVE IT!
Awesome job! I'm going to do some masonry pretty soon and I hope it goes half as well!
a greyer joint would have looked nice too
This was a lot of work.
Wow 😮
I am restoring a n 1890’s Historic home in Texas which has settled and one of the fireplaces has major breakage but I want to restore it. I am searching for someone who is a mason and knows how to restore old fireplaces.
Did you find anyone? I have a historic ornate brick fireplace too and need someone with the skill to rehab it.
I've been looking for information on how a two story building would have a fire place in the bottom and top room and share the same chimney like those built back in the old days
even though N is pretty soft, there was no reason to use portland on this soft brick, this should have been lime mortar all day long.
This is a good episode. One question though. Wouldn't type N be too hard for those old bricks?
