I'm so happy that Mustie is able to work in his shop again. It's one of the few channels that doesn't push Merch week after week. Just great content and conversation on Sunday mornings.
The no operator running on the driveway was a complete crackup! It was halfway through the scene the first time before I noticed you weren't behind it! 😁👍👍
Hi D. That was hilarious when the vac was running by itself!! Another awesome video!! Can’t wait to see the other machines!! Thanks for all of your hard work filming. You always keep us with the best views!! Love the town wide yard sales. I wish we had them in NC. Hope you have a great week!! Darren 😊😊😊😊
When I worked at McDonald's as a maintenance man, I got to use one called a Billy Goat. It was a 8 HP vacuum only you push ,with the worst start up ability, and when it finally did start, you never shut it off till you were done! And dumping the bag in the dumpster was ridiculously hard for one person. Fun times... That machine there is So Nice. But it's only been 35 years since my experience.
I have an electric version of the vacuum portion of this machine. We’ve had it for at least 12 yrs and we struggled to use it correctly the first few. My wife loves it because it turns huge piles of leaves into a few bags of powder in an hour. Your machine is perfect for larger properties. Keep it. Makes great compost or mulch. We rake out leaves from the edges and between bushes into a big loose windrow and it’s gone into bags in an hour. Once you get the vacuum height correct it’s a charm. I’ve picked up stones that have punched holes in the impeller housing two times and have patched with sheet metal because I can’t replace the housing or find another machine. That’s how handy it is.
That’s a great machine to get fixed. You even got the remote control working on it. Lol. Time for ice tea on the deck while watching it go back and forth!!
Good to see you back at it. And I had a good laugh when that vac was just going back and forth on the video without anyone behind it. Thanks for sharing.
Mustie1, your Creativity and dedication to get stuff running and working good and ur laugh brings-out the best in people.. Congrats and have a couple of beers ..
I was thinking 8HP go-kart engine, but that just shows my old-school thinking, karts these days have massively better power than that. Also I know from experience that the motor shaft is not straight but coned, in order to better seat / balance the heavy steel blower impeller.
Wrenching with a neighbour! Since your start I have always found a joy and humbleness to get to watch”free road side” fixer ups with you. Best way to enjoy a hot cup of coffee and Muskie1. Brings me back to your humble beginnings.
Mustie, knock the bearings out of the rim. Find a pulley or other hub that has a keyway in it. Turn it down until it fits snugly in the rim. Weld the sleeve to the rim. Fixed! Don't forget to put the key in. That's what I would do....LOL! Cheers Terry
That machine is a beast. I was LMAO when you showed it driving by itself. I bet if you dropped the front so it is only an inch or so above the ground it would pick up everything.
I kept the mice and packrats out of my Tundra engine compartment by wiring a small can of moth balls next to the engine. Works. Also where they are especially bad, an open pie tin of mothballs under the engine while parked.
I wish I had 2 of those things… one for both my boys. We’d have this place looking respectable in short order.😂 Man, I love this channel and this is like one of the old videos.👍🏼
Great example of how to service a Tecumseh carburetor, I just gave an original "Garden Way" Troybuilt tiller to a friend and recommended he watch this video on how to service this carb. Perfect timing!
Thanks for the interesting content. Wish you'd shown yourself chasing after it in the self driving scenes! I have a Billy Goat vac machine which I find very useful on our small property with lots of mature trees...now to get it up on the roof...lol😂
Nice save, could be very useful up there in a few weeks. My neighbor needs one, he has chestnut and walnut trees and is forever picking up debris so he can mow his huge yard. Don’t want to hit walnuts, it’s like hitting huge golf balls with your mower!
It wouldn't be a Musti video without the obligatory mouse nest. The previous owner probably wanted it to be a push vac. The one thing that ran thru my mind when it was running backwards by it's self was "Back away from the Musti very slowly". The end results of the waste would be perfect for compost.
I have a YardVac Junior (now out of business) that my dad bought used for $10 in the 70’s. The aluminum housing was eroded from using the vacuum with sand from operating it in Florida that he had repaired at the time. I still have it and it works very well 50 years later, i had replaced the original engine in the early 90’s as i got tired or replacing the points. Blowers have largely replaced gas vacuums, but the vacuums work great (removing glass clippings and leaves from edged paved surfaces) and move material into a bag rather than just blowing it around.
Good ol' *Mustie1* on a Sunday morning...I had an idea while watching: You could place this behind your shop with a hose coming inside through a wall flange, then the suction could be used for extended supplemental ventilation like if you were troubleshooting or first starting old vehicles repeatedly. These move around 2000cfm, and with it outside you wouldn't hear it running too loudly.
Again, love watching you wrench it reminds me of my dad. He could fix anything. I know a little but nothing on your level. Thanks for sharing and please keep it coming...
My father had something similar to this which he bought from sears. It was just a leaf blower \ vacuum. It wasn't self propelled. It worked out great during the fall season living in Connecticut. Great video, thank you for the memories.
This is a good example of why you should never leave a 12 year old unattended in your shop with an unlocked tool box! Thanks for explaining how things are supposed to work; once you understand the theory, most anything can be fixed. Good show, as always!
When you found that stick in the chipper throat I couldn't help but start laughin my ass off thinkin just before that you were talkin about evicting the mice. I could see in my mind that thing Startin up and sticks come flying out and you thinkin it was mice come blowing out!😅
Thanks Darren! I have that same or very close version of that Tecumseh engine in my NOMA (Canadian brand 🇨🇦) snowblower- bought in 1989 and it still runs like new. It is mounted horizontally to the direction of travel vs straight as in yours. The only issue I’ve ever had is the fuel supply line rotted out and I had to replace it. It was a bit of a nightmare fishing it through a twisting path between the engine and the frame but I managed to install it.
I watch mustie on my TV and it plays countless hours of videos so it's mustie until football and then I watch it on my phone to see what I missed lol great video as always
I hear you about the tires. Where I work, there are several hand trucks which are never used because they have flat tires. We went through a long period disconnected from our network, so I offered to take them home and fix them a few at a time because I have the experience and tools. Nope, the mechanics, who can't keep up with the truck maintenance and repair will do it. I have not actually checked in the last several months, but I wager they are unchanged. Got to say I love my tubeless mountain bike tires, though.
Just surreptitiously borrow a few, repair them then take them back when nobody is looking and don't say a word. They may guess it was you but deny everything! 🙂
I will love to have a machine like that. Nice work. Wish you will work on your Ford truck/van I like it a lot. Thanks for the great work your putting out.
Amazing all the stuff/stock you have collected over the years Really respect all your knowledge and experience you have Hope your health condition is better. CPL

Bad part is I wouldn't mind if he sold some shirts or hats
Yeah but I don't think he wants to go that route
@@Gamer-vn1ukand you would wear them and nobody would have any idea what it was about.
I bet one of the shirts would be an old VW engine, and text saying "Will it run?"
@@giggiddywith 678k subs, you might just run into a Mustie1 fan out there in society..😂
the free rider was hilarious!!! got a huge laugh out of it.
Me too! 😂👍
SAME! 😂😂
Yep. I laughed out loud when I seen it go by on its own power.
Yup proper laugh out loud moment right there
The no operator running on the driveway was a complete crackup! It was halfway through the scene the first time before I noticed you weren't behind it! 😁👍👍

Being operated by a mouse!

Yep. You can definitely do a "Scooby-Doo" sequence - you're chasing it, then it's chasing you.
Bringing machines back from the dead never gets old. ❤ you!

There is a billy goat vacuum for sale in my area.
Glad to see you back at it again. 👍
The older I get, the more I realize that getting old sucks! 😝
Thanks a bunch Mustie 🙏
Who would of thought old age could get here this fast. It's like you start aging in dog years.
It may suck but, it beats the alternative.
I'm 81 today. Still going along pretty good but you are so right. As mentioned the alternative isn't better.
Hey guys it's not getting old that sucks, Its thinking old that sucks, start your second childhood before it's too late. Gord Ontario Canada

Good Morning everyone.
Mustie1, your Creativity and dedication to get stuff running and working good and ur laugh brings-out the best in people.. Congrats and have a couple of beers ..
I ran a handtruck for 15 years. It was a great day when the company moved to solid tires!
I love watching him work and finding remedies for mechanical problems.
My wife and I both got a good laugh over the autopilot vac! Take care sir.
I am in awe of your stashes! 😍 And your knowledge, and your abilities, and your humour....
Thanks for making Sundays worth looking forward to!
just like a snowblower; these things run for about 4 hrs total a year. Happy to be back watching Mustie!
That gear box and differential alone would be worth bringing it home for a "future project".
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦

I hope your feeling better my friend. The only reason to wakeup early is always for a little Muskie with morning coffee. 🎉

Sold, I want one. Really ate those pine cones. I have lots of chestnuts, this would help with the cleanup
Sunday morning I get a Mustie1 video with my coffee…love it…!!!
Hopefully you’re feeling better and back at what you love doing…!!!
Must be named after the Merry Mack River, great demonstration of the autopilot function.
I just picked one up Yesterday! Different brand, same machine. Just about to go work on it, but I think I'll watch you first. Great timing!!
I kept the mice and packrats out of my Tundra engine compartment by wiring a small can of moth balls next to the engine. Works. Also where they are especially bad, an open pie tin of mothballs under the engine while parked.

The material that was making at the end will either compost down nicely or act as a great organic mulch to retain moisture on beds. Lovely stuff.
I was just thinking the very same.
Since you used Tarly’s mug for a specimen today I’m sure he would say - “There’s your dinner!” Enjoyed your content today!

Classic Mustie, it doesn’t get any better and never get’s old. Awesome machine.
Great fix, as always, Mustie! Maybe spray some silicone, or something, on the zipper of the collection bag!
