My favorite aspect of westie-tude is how they love to act tough but only when there's no real danger. My westie used to sit by the window and bark at everybody who walked by our house for hours on end, but he never did it when he was outdoors; only when he had a pane of glass separating him from the other dogs so they couldn't fight back.
Riley is our 3rd Westie. Each one had a great personality. Riley is so smart it's unbelievable. She understands most of what we say and responds to us. We love Westies. They are the best!!!
I've had three Westies and just lost our little guy in December. They are beautiful, very intelligent and the best dogs of any breed. I swear there was something human behind those soulful brown eyes. They are a treasure.❤❤❤

Got our 1st Westie (Chloe) in 2017, and when CoVid hit and I was working from home, we decided we needed another one (Maggie). We are absolutely in love with them. They keep us entertained continuously!

Our Bobo was an athlete for sure! He could sniff out a trail on massive granite rocks up in the Sierra like a pro! We also had this adorable game with him where he would sit at the top of 2 steps in our house and my husband would bounce a tennis ball off the bottom stair and Bobo would toss it back to him with his cute button nose. He kept the volley going as long as he could. When an amazon delivery came, he always knew if there was a stuffed snake for him, he went crazy just being around the unopened box. And, he made us open it, he would bark if we left it on a table. He loved spending time in the sun on our back stone patio and put his face up on the garden hose as a pillow. When he got too hot, he walked back in and went under the bed for a nap to cool off. He’d do that several times a day. When he passed 3 months before his 17th birthday, we were devastated. He died quite suddenly of kidney failure. He will always be with us. In a dream, while I was sick before Christmas, he visited me. It was quite surprising and comforting.
Westietude is a real thing! And you're right about them reining a puppy their whole life, my Milo looked the same from the time we got him (he was 7, and was a neglected rescue) until we lost him at almost 17.

We just lost our second sweet Westie Dec. 13. He was just about 13 years old. We loved him so much. Bender followed my husband around like a shadow. All that you said about Westies is absolutely true. RIP Yoshi 1995-2011 and Bender 2012-2024. They are greatly missed.

My Westie clacks his teeth to get my attention. He is so affectionate and is a true lap dog. He likes to sleep at the end of our bed. He does like his crate still after 12 years. I think it is security for e him.
I have 4 Westies - parents and two pups. The oldest is 6 years old. You are spot on about your 5 things. I also find them very smart. All of mine are very smart and surprise me often.😊

I had a Westie for 16 years her name was Brandy. she was a wonderful pet. Kind of sassy and independent but very loveable.. Then we had oe for 12 years the most loveable one ever. She was very sick had to put her down. Miss her everyday.

SO TRUE: 1. You threw the toy you fetch it! (same with my Westie) 2. Adorable at any age (my previous Westie who died at 10,5 was still looking young, many people thought he is around 2-3 years old😊) 3. Get more affectionate with age. (My new Westie is 2 and still wants to be alone, doesn't give kisses, goes away after few scratches, I thought he doesn't like me but he is like this with everyone. The previous Westie who died at 10,5 would like your nose for like 10 min a few times a day🐶) 4. They are forever puppies. God made them so darn cute for a reason. When you have Westies in your home, you find out, they'll work tirelessly to get you on their program. They are extremely smart little dogs, but mostly as it suits their desires. However, my female Westie would not leave my side, not even to eat, when I was sick in bed with pneumonia. The male did not change his bombastic ways at all.

I'm sorry to hear! Teenage pups are always difficult. Training classes make a difference, also rules in the house and be consistent with discipline. If you do this, it gets much better after they reach 2 years old!
It's a dog, maybe you tought to buy a Teddy bear...it's so sad everybody can buy a dog even if they are not suited like you. I Hope that the dog can find a new home far away from you! 😡
