Sami is adorable. Our Westie, Gracie, who will be 5 the end of April, shakes her toys like crazy when she is extremely happy…it’s kind of crazy the way she shakes it so hard…it actually hits her in the face while she is shaking it. She really loves you when she gets right up to you and shakes it about 2 inches away from your face. Our other Westie, Lily, lived to be 17. This is the best breed ever. I love your videos.

I don’t know how to thank you for this info. I wish I knew this before my precious westie passed away at 8 years . He was allergy prone to almost everything.
You nailed it although we have quite a vocal Westie (4 yo). I laughed out loud when you said "Yawn: A Westie's eye roll" - so true.
One additional sign of discomfort that our Westie exhibits is racing back and forth - it's basically a doggie tantrum.
Oh yes! Sami does that one too! Especially fun when he does it during the night because he can't sleep and he's bored and we wake up to the sound of the nails on the floor, tap tap tap 🤦🏻♀😂

You've made Cooper and I feel heaps better: Sami is totally gorgeous and we thought ours was more of a snob hahaha Everything you've covered here is exactly our Westie, London - but we laughed out loud at the eye movement and him ignoring you. We wondered if it was us, but it's the Westie dogs ... they are so beautiful though. You're making great content with Sami, keep it up, we appreciate it!

If it's time for bed, my Westies (8 yo and 9 mo) sit in front of me, staring. If I don't respond, which I don't sometimes because I like to play the game, they simply move further away so I can't not see them. Then I giggle and were off to get ready for bed. Oh, and the time is around 8:20 PM, local.
if my westie needed to go out and we were not paying attention to his other cues, he would hop in front of us. Little hops with his front feet. Sami us jus the cutest, thank for sharing!

Wow you nailed it! One thing Winston does when guests ie family come over he gets out his stuffed dog we call woobie. He wraps his front legs around it and puts it in his mouth. He has been doing that since he was a puppie for comfort when he’s stressed or anxious. He also does it when he does t feel well.

I like Sami as my mum has a westie his name is Charlie he's going to be 14 this year in march he has a funny tummy as hasn't had his food but out in the garden eating grass to help with his digestion but I really enjoyed your video 🐕🐶
@andrewmortimer We had a westie for 16 years who used to have tummy issues. He used to eat grass too. You can tell your Mum that if Charlie ever won't eat for her and she needs to settle his tummy, try one of those little Cesar dishes. They used to help our boy. He would eat those whenever he refused to eat anything else. Once he'd get something in his stomach, he was fine after that. Hope that helps!
Sami is so cute! He looks quite similar to Little Dog who passed away in May (and Westies do look differently). Thank you for the videos.

Our westie used to have this thing he did every night before going to sleep. He would walk around in circles on our bed before laying down. Then once he settled, he would lick his lips several times before going to sleep.

✨💖✨What a delightful and informative video. Our MacLaren does the side look. He kind of cants his head a bit, and it looks like he’s a little old man raising one of his hairy eyebrows. MacLaren is a talker, as was our first westie. It’s funny how different the voices different westies have. MacGreggor (our first westie) sounded like he was saying "all right, all right, all right." MacLaren rings a bell that we just happened to have hanging around on the front door when he wants to go out. He used to jump at the door handle until he realized the bell got our attention. He has a quick yip he just wants your attention. He isn’t keen on his stairs, so when hurt his leg a while back, he’d yip when he wanted help onto the bed. When he and his older brother (a sweet dachshund) are just being sweet, they make this funny mewling sound. When MacLaren is barking and told to stop, he kind of opens and closes his mouth a few times, but doesn’t make any noise. He used to do the same when he was very small, and he was scolded for nipping. It was the cutest darned thing. Our wee MacLaren is only 11 months old, so it’s fun to watch his personality develop. Now, if we could just keep him from barking at the snowmobiles, and pulling because he wants to chase them…. He just thinks he owns the town, very full off himself. He’s a picky eater, and has a sensitive stomach. I know that you’ve talked about Sami’s allergies, and that he can be a bit of a picky eater.

He never liked them! I'm glad Sugar also hated them, because every other dog seems to love bananas and I was feeling like "why doesn't my dog like bananas??" 😂😂 But I also don't like them, so maybe he takes after me, hahaha

Oh gosh I had to smile, your Sami has similar traits to my Izzy! She will turn her head away from me when she is annoyed at me lol. I've learned over the years that cuddles are on her terms. Westies are so different from others dogs just so independent. Thank you for sharing your ins8ghts!

I was wondering about the yawn thanks. When my guy really wants my attention he gnashes his teeth that has felt like nip when he was a puppy. Dont exactly know what he wants. He has a great temperament.
My Candy used to get really snappy when my ex husband and I would wake her out of a sound sleep . Which I totally understand. Wouldnt like it if that was done to me either.

This is so much like my dog. They are so stubborn and good in ignoring whatever they don’t like. Can you lpls et me know from where you got the bed? I would like to know about how many times we should give them bath and about allergies. Thanks!
Yes they are! Stubbornness is like a sport for them 😅 The teepee tent I got it from Amazon, if you look for dog teepee you will find it!
About the bath it depends on their allergies. If they have skin allergies or atopic skin, a special shampoo can help (shampoo for dermatits/atopy). I'd say try it and see if the itching gets better after the bath. If it does, only use it when the allergies act up. If it doesn't you can try again after a few days and see if it improves. The most frequent baths I have Sami were every 2 days, for 2 weeks, when he was a puppy, because of a skin issue he had. It was a treatment from the vet. So there isn't a right or wrong, I'd say try and see how he improves, then you can adjust.

When my Westies is in the car he stands with his front legs in the arm rest between the front seats and his back legs on the back seat looking out the front window. While I’m driving he will paw at my arm as if to say “ hey I want to drive “. Got any ideas what he is saying with the pawing action. He loves being in the car but I can’t figure it out.
I think it's "are we there yet???" Or, maybe he wants to drive haha😅 I held Sami in my lap a few times, in front in the passenger seat. He was trying to climb on the dashboard, I swear! They need to be in control and see everything that moves!
My westie was the king of looking to the other side to ignore me. He even made himself a ball and starting sleeping. Rude!!!!!

He is on a prescription diet (skin care kibble) + homemade food. I will make a video soon to share what he eats ☺

I also thought of another one that would be a bit sad, but it would be very helpful to your Westie audience, and that is what to do when you're a pet parent and your dog is diagnosed with cancer. Do you or do you not go with chemotherapy? You can list the process involved and the pros and cons of each. I lived that story for 8 months, six of those months with chemo for Sparky.

I will keep it in mind and when I start to work on it, I will ask you more questions about your experience, if that's ok. Thank you❤
