I _really_ loved this challenge, despite making my brain hurt it was weirdly relaxing.
I'm still practising and learning more moves in the evenings - "just one more try..."
I did consider putting some of the algorithms and moves in this video to show how it works and explain a bit more, but I figured the JPerm RUclips channel is so good that it's better to go there and learn in full.
I have linked the videos I learned from in the description.
I also wanted to mention that I had wanted to try the Rubik's cube since seeing the film 'In Pursuit of Happyness' - that was 16 years ago! It took me all that time to muster up the energy to learn it. As I go into my 40th year I have decided to do the things I have thought about for years. Time continues to move on and I want to act with haste. Anyhow, I didn't put the bit in about the film as didn't want to get a copyright on adding a clip of it in my video.

Good job! I bet doing things like the Rubik's cube is great to keep your brain humming along as well. Actually, that's a cool idea for a few future videos--trying and incorporating new specific functional things to keep your body and especially mind in tip top form as we get older. Its easy to settle into life's patterns, but when those patterns become too automatic, we aren't stimulated anymore and we tend to atrophy. Use it or lose it! Maybe it could be a series of videos where you explore this. :)

My husband was into Rubix cubes when he was younger. When we were dating he picked up a 4 sided one. He spent many days trying to solve that for the first time. I remember when he did it was 1:00 in the morning and he was so excited he woke me up to tell me. I can't say I met his level of enthusiasm at that point. Hehe. Great challenge! When you said every time you think you are close to solving it, you aren't, I laughed because that's exactly how it feels. You get so close and then you have to give up that closeness to get the final cubes in the last spot and then suddenly you lose track of where you are and now you have more cubes out of place. Good memories. 😊

Blindfolded doesn't need to slow people down. They don't even need to see the mangled cube beforehand.
There is this thing called mindsight, and it WORKS. It's easy for kids 6-12yo, takes more practice for adults.
You CAN see shapes, colors, anything. Children can play, unencumbered, fully blindfolded. Cycling, throw and catch, climbing, karting, air hockey, even reading and drawing. Seeing through walls becomes a matter of belief in self.

      absolutely! this was so fun!

I was a kid in the 80s. My Aunt had a Rubics Cube. I couldn't figure it out, and just tossed it aside. It basically sums up my personality at 40-year-old. If it's something that is useful and has a purpose, then I can focus like a laser beam. If it's silly like a game or even a dumb movie, then I quickly lose interest.
So proud of your focus and ability to reach your goal@

It's definitely quicker, but that jperm guy can still do the beginner method in 10 seconds......
