For anyone who has limited time a simmilar experience can be had in SW Sotland, just turn left when you cross the border and head down the A75 - come and explore Dumfries and Galloway. It's much closer and a forgotten jewel with less Caravans and Campers.

Wee tip for you Saffy...You don't need oil when cooking sliced sausage or black pudding, there's plenty of fat already in them, lol...Nice to see Scotland from your point of view, hope you had a good time in my part of the world 🙂 Despite the weather, lol

You don't need oil for fatty meat. It already has oil in it. Heat it slowly until the oils come out and then cook as usual. You can use a stick to stir things around and flip it over if you've forgotten utensils. Never boil meat, unless the recipe calls for it. Loved seeing the old steam train! Gorgeous looking ride, enjoy! (after your things have dried, LOL!)

When did you do this I went on July 23rd from Boston to Inverness. Soaked through was and understatement. 482 miles in one day, grabbed a travel lodge the first night at Inverness east and then wild camped 3 nights and grabbed another hotel in aviemore on return, we did it quite quick. We had 3 good days and 2 rubbish days... but all in it was good. Wild camping spots are not as easy as you think to find. We had camped on a bridge on the side of the nc500 not far from the Durness zip line. Lovely spot.

Was up there in October 23 and went, from near Oban, up to Malaig. Stayed in Arisaig overnight which was gorgeous. Watched pilot whales feeding on mackerel that in turn were feeding on whitebait. Poor old whitebait were copping it from gannets from above too. Don’t want to reincarnate back as a whitebait next time. Tough life apparently.
The weather in October can be truly awesome as can April May. We had no rain during the days for most of the week. mind you, they had suffered terrible flooding and we had to detour around a massive landslide and a missing bridge just to get to my place.
My son and I are going to do the whole 500 this Easter with my Wife in the backup vehicle. We cheat and trailer the bikes up to my place near Oban and ride from there. I know! Lightweights!😂

Good evening Ms Sprocket. A nob of butter never oil to cook bacon or sausages and eggs. Plenty of fat in them ingredients for cooking girl. I know that cold wet feeling riding Scotland in summer with heavy looking skys. So I never minded if we spent a night or three staying in diffetent hotels snuggled up to the wife while letting someone else cook breakfast 😉. Take care ride safe and see you in the next one 👍😊. Great footage by the way girl...

I bet you didn't expect rain eh? It could have been worse, I had money on you falling into the water where you climbed down. Keep safe brave girl and better luck through the week. :>)

Great video really enjoyed it... Have you ever thought of using a lifestraw or water filter... Would save you a trip for water... Anywhere there's water.. You can use it to get safe drinking water..but I'd beware of getting the water from a puddle 😂😂

@@SaffySprocket I tested it... Extreme test..... Got some water from a puddle in the ally... Just as I was knocking back the crystal clear water.... My girlfriend informed me that she saw cats peeing in it 😳still alive.. Riding round the lake district tenting.. In Penrith atm

Beautiful scenery on that trip, but you seem to have forgotten the first rule of biking (especially in Scotland) - no matter how "waterproof" your luggage is supposed to be, wrap everything in bin bags if you want it to stay dry.

I weirdly attempted NC500 2 weeks ago apart from I did ride into a hedge! and then had a bald tyre. will try again next year. managed 3/4 of it but missed out on the west coast due to said tyre

The NC500 is a fantastic route, one I'll definitely do again but must do the Wild Atlantic Way first. 8 of us did the NC500 route in June, just shy of 1700 miles in 6 days, 3 of those days we had torrential rain. Somehow my kit kept me dry, Oxford Mondial trousers and an Oxford jacket, Furygan gloves and Shoei Gt Air helmet, it was only on the third day of torrential rain that my visor leaked water but that was because at some point I must have been a bit rough closing it and the visor popped out on the one side.

Some nice cinematic shots there! How does the Honda compare with the SV for covering distance? Must be nice to have a fairing. For packing, I can recommend vacuum bags, something like JML Vacuum Storage Bags. These squeeze clothing down to about a third normal size meaning you can either take more with you or carry less luggage. They have the added benefit of being totally waterproof. Ride safe. 🏍️

It's ok Saffy, I'm sure the puddle frogs looked away to protect your modesty 😅.
Hope your new war horse is at least living up to your expectations and proving a worthy adventure companion?.
My current bike is a battle scared old Honda 650 Transalp that needs a well earned retirement. The 500X is definitely on my short list.
