  • With a few free days, I headed off on my first ever solo moto camping trip. No real plan, no real time frame, just set off and see where I end up. The only thing I knew was that my start point was Guildford and I didn't want to hammer the motorways, so off to Wales it was. Join me to see how I got on.

    Very impressive bud. Bike, camping set up and food all top notch. Always good to listen to locals when you're out there. Ride safe

    Can I ask where you got your cooking oils and spices pack from ? Prefilled or homemade ?

    Your motorcycle and gear do not need to be expensive for going camping.
    Get a girlfriend, a cheap motorcycle, helmets, gloves and rain gear.
    You probably already have a tent, mattresses and sleeping bags. Stuff it in a cheap old crew bag.
    Panniers or soft bags are good for clothing, cooking gear, tools and toilet stuff. The tank bag is good for paper maps, guide books and locks. It worked in 1979 and it works now. No need to bring chairs, tables, tarps or pillows. I'm 66 and still don't need them. Making good food like you do using local ingredients is brilliant. I would only use my single stove Trangia. A girlfriend is more fun than a grill - and may last longer.

    Nice to watch a pro at work! You know your way around a camp site!
    Nice table, I could use one like that on my upcoming trip. Which brand is it?
    Have a continued nice trip.

      Thanks for your kind words. The table is just a Eurohike compact table. (I've since found out the legs fold out again for an extra bit of height!) But a decent little table to be fair.

    I see you use your phone for navigation even tho you have the BMW sat nav.... why is that? (I find my BMW sat nav is really hard to use)

    • @RoamingRizzy
      @RoamingRizzy  Месяц назад +2

      I've learnt to use the BMW one, tricky but worth the patience. No real reason, but using both I can zoom right out on one and see where I am, or look at different info on the BMW one. Plus if a route had changed for whatever reason, like a closed road, google will point it out. Also handy for finding butchers etc, then get back to the BMW one. So I use them in tandem. Hope that waffle helps 😂

      I also don't bother with basecamp anymore, import direct from Myroute App, so much easier.

      @@RoamingRizzy Thanks! Couldn't make head nor tail of Basecamp, so finnicky!
