I've been a CRT for going on 34 years and I'm in school to get my registry and have found your channel invaluable. You have a gift for teaching. Thanks for your content.
After 9 years in the field, 0 have been spent in the PFT lab. I'm heading to small town Texas to help during this pandemic and I'm running the show at this 25 bed hospital. PFTs, ECGs, Blood gas lab, even the occasional Holtor monitor! Anyway, your videos are gold. Thanks for the refresher and keep up the good work!
I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos to help us future Respiratory Therapists! Your videos on Mechanical Ventilation saved me this semester. 🙏
Your videos are SO great and I’ve recommended them to a study group I was in for the tmc. I graduated 6 years ago, but life happened and I put the test off. After 3 months of studying Kettering and your videos, I passed the tmc with the high cut. THANK YOU so much for sharing your knowledge!!! This series was my favorite to go over. I felt dumb, but each time I watched it, something else clicked for me and it saved me yesterday. So many pft questions! Thanks again! Kelly
thanks coah! if you see someone not liking your video or leaving bad comments...that's okay...it just means you're being notice... which means you're starting to get famous ❤... keep it up sir

I am a Senior in the Respiratory Program and I am having a hard time with PFTs. I watched all 4 videos/liked/& subscribed. You broken it down and described it in much simpler terms! Thank you so much!!!!!!!! Looking forward to watching more videos! P.S. I shared this with other classmates as well. :)
14:14 I knew that coming to your page was a great idea!! I love how you explain things especially with material like PFT’s….I’ll def remember things better especially w/ the 🧙🏻
PFTs were pretty confusing to learn at first with all the numbers and ratios. I really like how you broke all the percentages down and explained everything. This was a really great review, thank you!!
Hello again, Adz. Always appreciate your feedback. Funny thing is you are essential to me. A teacher can only teach if they have students that want to learn. Thanks for always watching and commenting.
Where were you when I was going through RT school? Lol. You've explained this better than any of my professors. I know that if I'd have to take that test today this would be one area that I wouldn't worry about. At least I can confidently interpret theresilts in practice today. That you!!!
Right on time before finals. I'm very thankful for great/simple explanation ... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !!! As I said...wish you were my professor ;)
Hey! Been watching you for long time now ever since I started my respiratory therapy course. I've finally graduated and you definitely played a part in it so thank you! I am now preparing for my licensure exam and I must admit, I still find it confusing on where I should look at in PFT interpretation. Can you help me?? When reading PFT, which one should I interpret, the predicted, %predicted, %change, or measured?

I’m in my last of 4 years in my program and i have found your videos extremely helpful. I have a question in this video though for pt 3 the FEV1% is 54% which is decreased so this indicates obstruction that i understand. And at the same time the FVC% is 66% which is also decreased wouldn’t that indicate restriction so this patient has mixed obstructive and restrictive condition? I feel as if i have learned this in a course a few years ago but i might be confusing this part.
What if you already cant breath out of your nose and you have to take this test and you get winded just drinking water, what does this tell you and will i do good at test
Isn’t patient 3 both obstructive and restrictive since the FVC is less than 80% and FEV1/FVC ratio is also less than 70%? You said he’s just obstructive
100%. A flow-volume loop is a flow-volume loop. A scoop on the flow-volume loop equals obstruction. Obviously, more problems may exist with an ett, secretions, biting, etc, but you get the point. Right?
@@RespiratoryCoach i know that for obstructive the problem is the flow and for restrictive the problem is the volume. Also if i am correct, the graphics (inhalation, exhalation) you see in pft is opposite on what you see in the vent.
@@yugioh2463 That's correct, but only opposite in that in the vent expression is on the bottom of the graphics, where it is on the top of the flow-volume loop during a PFT.
Hi there i have question i had a patient with a change of FEV1 by 40% post bronchopneumonia! Is that possible or this is a malfunction of the machine it self but i do calibration daily

I just started PFT class, and I am SO HAPPY you have a 4-part series on PFTs. I am not freaked out anymore!!!
For sure don't freak out! PFTs are typically over taught and complicated. Keep it simple and roll on!!!

If I’m taking a PFT and I’m feeling ok that day.
And if I took aPFT while having an asthma attack.
Wouldn’t that make the numbers very different?
Absolutely the results will vary!

I couldn't say without without performing the test. A good PFT Technician can get valid test results from the most severe patients.
Isn’t patient 3 both obstructive and restrictive since the FVC is less than 80% and FEV1/FVC ratio is also less than 70%? You said he’s just obstructive
I was just wondering if the loops in the pft and in mechanical vent are somewhat related with each other.
