One of thr things I appreciate about your forecasts is the learning and information and knowledge that you provide. Rather than "this is the forecast" this is why and how it might change. Thank you Max
One thing I can never forget when I see hurricanes forming in the gulf is that when Hurricane Camille hit Cuba in August 1969, it was a Cat 2. By the time it got to the Miss. gulf coast it was a Cat 5. Granted, it formed over the Atlantic but it was still pretty far south in the Caribbean, giving it time to gain strength.
We stayed for Michael because it was a CAT 2 the night before it hit .. by 10AM the next morning, it was a CAT 5 and it was too late to get out of the way.
@corsa Once someone "Rides one out" like that,it's generally the last thing they will ever go. These aren't tornados, known for days approx impact area.
Southwest Florida here... as long as its a cat 3 or less we're good to go. I just dont want to sit thru 10hrs+ of 160mph cat 5 storm like Ian again... Charlie was bad enough in 2004 but Ian was a dog!
Considering how close it would take that storm to Louisiana, please, no. We're still drying out from the last hurricane. My yard still squishes when I walk on it.
I hate when I read posts like this. I am so sorry you had such a bad week! Hoping things improve for you. Just know that you have complete strangers out here thinking about you!
I hope its not a anthor Michael by no means we don't wish it on no one but we don't need a nother one we just had a cat 2 the weather said it was a 1 bs it was 120 plus miles and hours for 3 to 4 hours God bless all of us on the gulf coast please let that Dry air get in it , God bless us amen 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕

We're supposed to get a lot of rain here in Southwest Tennessee from this tropical storm/ hurricane. Praying for everyone in the path of it. Stay safe and aware.
What are your thoughts on the possible storm developing behind this storm? Yes I’m crazy traveling on a cruise during peak hurricane season but I’m more concerned about the storm behind Helene that could interfere coming back into port of Miami.
Everyone who studies storms seems to forget to review Galveston, 1900. These water basins are heavy. We are no longer a part of Gonawanda. We also are not in the Topics of Capricorn ♑. We are the Tropics of Cancer ♋.
Oh my, I hope this goes as far West as possible, and leaves New Orleans in peace. Looks like this thing is going to be so huge, that even with the best case scenario, tropical force winds will still hit New Orleans, which will probably cause power outages.
They've been saying "this hurricane season is going to break records", for the last few years with minimal hurricanes. I think they pray for these things so they can push their climate change agenda.
I have a question that I cannot find an answer for anywhere if anyone might have some answers or theories on! Theoretically speaking, If you have a hurricane form in the gulf and heads towards western Florida and then another hurricane form in the main development region and heads directly towards eastern Florida and both hurricanes are set to hit at roughly the same time, what would happen? Would the Fujiwhara effect set in? Would it form into one over land? Would they like bounce off each other and shift patterns? THEORETICALLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN!?!?

Yeah they projected cat 2 at landfall when it was an invest, and became cat 5.
