You'll love your lfp one... Sold my 2020 sr+ and bought a 2022 lfp and we really enjoy the improvements on the car. -almost 60kwh usable -double windows -double wireless charger -heatpump -electric trunk -heated steering wheel That car is the efficiency king...
Model 3's are such a great value. I usually get bored with vehicles after about a year, but I'm 2 years into owning my Model 3 and still love it as much as the day I bought it. As a car enthusiast, it checks every box.
I agree with Kathy, for how much the Teslas cost, you should not have the type of problems you had with the vehicle. Congratulations on your new car, Dave!
I am always amazed at what Tesla owners accept to own these cars. Misaligned car, no floor mats, no charging cable, etc. and the cheapest car comes in around 47k and up. I do love your videos and overall presentation.
not every Tesla car panels are misaligned lmfao, stop hating bro, but I feel ya the cost cutting is bs, no mats, no charger. no bracket for the license plate it's ridiculous. my 22 model 3 came with all of that except Mats
Congratulations! I hope you will have a lot of fun with your new Model 3. I have a 60 kWh LFP Model 3 too after two Model 3 LR and a Model 3 Performance. First I was a bit concerned that it might not be good in cold conditions from a handling and charging perspective, but it turned out to be great in winter. I was on a Norway, Sweden and Finland roadtrip about two weeks after Kyle was at Nordkapp and I spend 14 nights camping in the car. I just made sure that the battery was charged to over 90 % before camping and that was enough to start with over 50 % every morning. The preconditioning of the battery was always enough to get the full 170 kW from the first charging on. Even in -15 C (5 F) that I experienced in Finland charging from 2 % to 50 % took only 14 min.
You're not getting old. That 5.8 0-60 time is very fast. It's just that it's slower than many of the other cars & EVs out there. For the record, I took a look at performance statistics of some of the classic muscle cars of the late 1960s (GTO, Boss Mustang etc), and found that their 0-60 times were in the 5 -6 second range, with top speeds around 130. This pretty well matches the base Model 3. Your car is in good company from a performance perspective.
It’s quick but I rented one and the power delivery is more like an ICE car. It feels kind of unimpressive off the line but builds power with speed. EVs typically have that instant torque feel off the line that fades with speed. Of course, once you drive a Model S Plaid every other EV feels unimpressive.
I drive the same car, and love it. The efficiency is amazing, the range is better when charged to 100% (every time, LFP!) than my wife’s MYP at 80%, and I’m old enough to remember the dark days when Corvettes couldn’t do 0-60 in 5.8sec.
Well I picked up the same Model 3 SR+ a few weeks ago (in August), here in the Netherlands. That went somewhat different then the delivery here in this video. All cars that were to be delivered that day were nicely parked in rows in a big building, like a big factory hall. All cars connected to a charger. A few people were there to assist the customers when needed. I was directed to my car, where I could set my seat and mirrors and such. And set up the connection with my phone. Because I had to drive quite a stretch home and the battery was somewhere in the 40's %, they were kind enough to connect my car to one of their superchargers to make sure I would get home and still have some power left. No charge for the supercharger. And furthermore there sure were floor mats in the car and also a set of charging cables, for at home (which I can not use as I live in an apartment) and for public chargers. I have had the Model 3 for about 4 weeks now and it hasn't been connected to a supercharger since the delivery. So far I have used the public charger in front of the apartment building.
Waiting on mine! Model 3 SR RWD in red. I drive tons for work and I don’t see the need for the LR model. Plenty, plenty of fun test driving the RWD and I like to accelerate.
I picked up my MY from Kisco. My only concern as a first time Tesla owner was that I was so far from home. I explained to the service team that each Tesla delivery location should have at least a single supercharger on site for new deliveries to test that the account and the vehicle are activated for the SC network before departure. A free 3 minute charge would be nice. I didn't want to drive to Clinton Corners and discover that I have a problem with my new account and can't make it all the way home. But, I haven't heard of anyone having an issue...still, it was my first EV and first Tesla. Assurance before departure would have been more comforting.
I agree with you: why most EV car dealers don’t have an electric super charging stations, so you could learn how to get electric power and test your account.
I took delivery of my Model S Plaid August 10th. I have had ZERO problems from it. It is well made. The only problem I have is, I don't let FSD drive enough, because I am jealous and like to drive myself.
We got the same last month. Ours had to back to service for 2 weeks after only a week because of a faulty connector to the HV battery that pretty much bricked the car but all has been good since we got it back.
I will definitely be interested to see what your experience is with this car! Especially your road trips to Florida with the shorter range. To me, the LFP battery is the way to go. You can run it from 0% to 100% routinely, no need to manage the battery pack like you do with the NCA batteries. I wish they made an AWD model with it.
I tested a model 3 just like that one yesterday and loved it! handled incredible! fun to drive! awesome regenerative braking! Great stereo! I’m sold lol
Huh? You state that this is your 4th Model 3. What was wrong with the other THREE M3’s that you traded away? You didn’t even get the much anticipated code named, “HIGHLAND” refresh version coming out in 2nd half of 2023. As always, good luck with the new ride but this one won’t last. So…….anyone have that Over/Under yet? 😂
Congrats! I had a similar experience of having to make an appointment to fix a deficiency. It's a big waste of time, you go in, then they tell you it's within spec.
I liked your comments about driving the model 3. We just got the same one you got and it’s a joy to drive. The handling and the one pedal driving does make you feel more connected to the car. Our other car is an older similarly sized Accord and the driving experience is incomparable. We got it right before the large price decrease on the Y. We would likely have bought the Y if we had waited a week but we are still enjoying this car.
I have a 2019 SR+ with FSD I got used from Tesla. Love it. 👍🏻. Congrats on yours Dave. I had an order for your exact spec but opted for used. I’m in North Texas where we had an ice storm at the beginning of the month….the car was amazing even on ice. The same can’t be said for all the pickup trucks sliding all over the place. 🤦🏻♂️
Yep, I just bought the same car, other than color, two weeks ago for the same reasons. I have been wanting to get an EV after 15 years with Toyota Hybrids. When 2023 rolled around with Tesla tax rebates coming back, although I suspect this car will not ultimately get the rebate after March, and the Tesla price drops I decided to go for the Model 3 RWD. Love it so far.
Congrats. During checkout, it clearly states no home charging cable is included, and if you want to purchase one. That changed a while ago. You probably just skipped right over it due to being used to ordering these.
The Tesla sticker on mine said it had FSD and Enhanced Autopilot... I didn't order those... it's a bit odd to have a 'sticker' with your vin with more features than the car actually really came with. Also my model y came with floor mats, which I wasn't expecting. Mt Kisco folks, super friendly, very helpful.
Dave, Dave, Dave, how did you get ever get so lucky to have a wife like Kathy, trading cars a will she is always funny and in a good mood and smart enough to keep her GV60. Looking forward to you reviewing the new M3, I would like a video of you getting in and out of the drivers seat, ha! You need to keep Kathy in all your videos, you two are what makes the world go round.
for a sub 300 lease sedan, this is pretty good value. personally i didnt want to get a tesla, but the way dealerships are still price gouging in this post covid era on standard cars, i bit the bullet.
Welcome in our exclusive "waiting for the promised replacement for parking sensors" club. Though thankfully mine came with floor mats and a charging cable so at least there's that.
Congrats Dave! And glad that you bought a Model 3 Rear Wheel Drive, one that many people will be curious about since it's one that is within reach of them, unlike a Model S or X. Definitely look forward to seeing future videos of it!
I picked up my lfp m3 a few weeks ago from the Paramus nj center. Cars were flying out of there, never seen anything like it. That said it took me about 10 minutes to take delivery, i don't miss the traditional dealership experience one bit.
I’ve seen the alignment issues with the Teslas. Went to a Tesla dealer in Houston and saw some gaps in the alignment. I don’t think it’s going to affect anything but all the cars I saw on the floor had those same gaps.
Fixing those panel alignment issues should be part of the vehicle PDI at the store/dealer. If Tesla took it upon themselves to fix all those issues BEFORE anyone took delivery, I bet the factory would start pumping out better cars petty quick as all the service centers would be constantly chirping back to the factory to do a better job. Internal complaints (from store to factory) would be a lot more effective I think. Customers have been complaining about the fit/finish for years and while it seems to have gotten better, it’s still not where it should or could be with the capabilities at the factory. At this point the only conclusion is the factories don’t care enough to do better.
2023 Y dual motor AWD pearl white 19" wheels 330Miles per charge is the best for the price , the room in the car is comparable to SUV only $7000 more then model 3, well worth it , I went down and test drove model 3 and sat in a Y the difference was night and day, once you sit in both and look at the difference in available space there is no doubt what one might choose, unless you like small cars..
Good call…100% charge daily being ok is….ok! Just got a ‘23 LR and charging to 80% in cold weather is just 290 miles or so. Hopefully I’ll see better when Spring hits.
I just took delivery on the same car, except with white seats. Anyway, I know it should be charged to 100% after each daily use, but the Tesla owner's manual strongly suggests that the car stay plugged in even after the charging is complete. DO YOU follow this advice on keeping it plugged in?
That opening conversation was hilarious! Congrats on 34 years! Sounds like you all got married a just a couple years after my wife and I did. Dave - I will say that what Kyle was getting at is correct: out of spec is too heavily weighted toward the high end stuff and needs more balance towards entry level. Even entry level is expensive, but it’s important to see this end of the product line.
You are going to miss the instrumentation in front of the yoke steering wheel. That is one of the reasons I got rid of my model 3 performance because it was too minimalistic. Some people love that I thought I would but never got used to it.
I still find it ridiculous that after all of these years Tesla still can’t put these cars together without having panels misaligned and huge gaps. Totally unacceptable.
Dave definitely fooled me. I thought maybe he was going to try the Rivian truck for a while after his Christmas drive or maybe his Lucid Air had come in. Ironically, I have a 2018 Model S and am going to drive a 3 and Y in the next couple of days to see if I would like them enough. It’s hard not to pass up the rebates right now. Love that Kathy just dropped him off at the dealership. My wife said she would do the same thing! Are we feeling the love? 😂😂
Hey Dave, I just sold my Model 3 and my Model Y is on order however I have had thoughts about buying a used refresh model s and wanted your thoughts on if the Model S is worth the price?
I just bought a 2018 model 3 long range with fsd I love it got it for 28k only 29k miles CLEAN I'm coming from 2 2020 Chevy bolts (great first ev cars) huge difference.. Tesla need to keep all color same price there gonna be way too many whites lol
I can't understand how Tesla can deliver a car without interior carpet, panels not aligned and without home charger. Don't you have snow where you live ? I feel your next car will be the new GV70 electrified. Good video your wife is a plus into them !
The base model 3 doesn’t come with the premium interior, which includes the floor mats. None of the Teslas come with the home charger since last year, but he could have ordered it with the car.
@@LordStevie thanks for the info. I thought than Tesla was a luxurious car maker ! They don't supply Homelink either for your garage door, except il you pay 350$ extra. I think than Genesis or others represent a better value for the money spent, don't you think ? I won't buy any electric device without his cord for sure ! I know Tesla has a better range but few people need a car with 500 miles range every day ? Tesla now lower their prices. I don't know if past Tesla owners appreciate that situation ? Have a good day !
A lot of previous owners already have wall chargers so its a waste of resources to provide one. Kinda the same thing that apple did with chargers, definitely more environmentally friendly and saves money.
Thanks for the great videos Dave. Picking up my MYP at Mount Kisco on 6/21. Unfortunately it's a 7-hour drive from Buffalo, so I guess I get my first road trip straight out of the gate.
You didn't get a sales tax credit for a trade in on this deal then did you? Not sure this deal really penciled out as a win, downgraded the car significantly, only pocketed a little bit and took a huge hit in equity. Edit: Glad you posted the purchase numbers. It looks like CT sales tax is pretty cheap at least compared to ours and you do get a pretty nice state incentive that the 3 would be too expensive for in WA so that helps a bit. I'd be handing close to 5k over to the state at purchase time to make this deal work in WA with no state incentives for tax and registration. Still not convinced this was a great move, I'll bet money this car doesn't last long and when you go to trade it in, I bet you will wish you had that Model S equity.
Quality control still stinks though. It’s crazy to me you just purchased a new car but you need to bring it in to get it all readjusted. Uber credits because there are no loaners. Also shame on them for not mentioning the charger. For most people it’s their first EV
I am surprised you would go from the most expensive Tesla to the cheapest. I think you were wise to buy new this time. I had a friend you said, "buy a used car, you are buying someone else's troubles." You opened the charging port door when at my home in Fort Myers, and I remember the paint looked touched up. You had only replaced two door handles on the Model S at that time.
I have the long range model 3 RWD M3 2018 and love it. Was thinking about upgrading to performance M3 but want white seats and Red color but that puts me over the tax credit and I really don’t want white on white. Decisions. BTW drove it from Rocky Hill Connecticut to Cocoa Beach florida two weeks ago. No issues at all with superchargers
I own 2 teslas and love the company. They are light years ahead of other companies in tech but specifically the model 3 is built like 1990’s Kia. Those gaps are unforgivable. The giga press will fix all these problems.
I've never seen people be this picky about other vehicles before. My Mustang had issues with alignments of the hood and fenders, my toyotas have had issues. You never see anyone picking them apart
Just ordered the same car for HOV access on my commute 2-3 days a week. The only option was the Midnight Silver Metallic for $1k. I’ll 24 month lease it though so I’m not without HOV access and because EV tech is changing so rapidly. I also owned a Model S (2014 P85) and like your car it was a lemon. Quality sucked back then and I had so many troubles with the car. Hoping for better quality and a better experience with a 2023. 🤞🏻
I bet you 50 cents that if/when you bring it in to have them adjust the trunk, they will tell you it is within specs and do nothing. Get ready to send my money! Or - save yourself a trip and forget about it. My Model Y Performance has an edd date of Mar. 6 - Mar. 31. I'm already dreading what my inspection may reveal. I have already owned a new 2021 Model Y which happened to be perfect. I think those days are long gone, sadly.
Good luck on your new Tesla. My first one was a Model 3. I kept it less than a year because it was too close to the ground for me to enter and exit comfortably. I had lots of trouble with the driver's window, but Tesla got it fixed after many attempts. I now have a Model Y which works much better for me. I will be interested in hearing how the ride compares to your Model S. Both my Model 3 and Model Y are a little rough. My Y is a 2022, and I understand Tesla has made some suspension improvements since mine was delivered.
Out of spec mom has never said why she got rid of her model Y. I think she went to the Porsche Macan from the Y which I would’ve done as well but then she got rid of the Macan. She might need her own channel.
Well… good luck with it! You've helped to boost Elon Isherwell's mood -as well as his net worth. I've driven my Model 3 for nearly 5 years, but personally… I prefer Kathy's taste in cars.
Selling our M3 RWD this week, as we move into a new MY -- which will be the official grandparent road car. The M3 has been a fantastic car for us, even though the low-to-ground sedan style was a little bit hard for me with my arthritic back. The MY and my IONIQ5 work better. But I recommend the M3 highly. Am a bit sad to no longer be in #TEAMRED
I need every day to start with Dave and Kathy (or is it Cathy?) chatting. Congratulations Dave. Hope you love this one. Though I gotta say I'm looking forward to you flipping it for something more interesting like an Ioniq 6 or an i5 Touring or something. :)
Can’t wait to hear more of your opinions on the RWD Model 3! I just took delivery of the same spec (aside from being Midnight Silver Metallic). Can’t wait to hear what your longer term thoughts and experiences are after owning the S, driving the Y, etc.
News just in from the Fed no recession in the US if Dave buys another ev in 3 weeks. 😂😂😂😂👍
Maybe he should buy two! Then there would be a guarantee of no recession. 😀
LFP for the win! Can’t wait to play around with this thing
You'll love your lfp one...
Sold my 2020 sr+ and bought a 2022 lfp and we really enjoy the improvements on the car.

I agree with Kathy, for how much the Teslas cost, you should not have the type of problems you had with the vehicle. Congratulations on your new car, Dave!
Agree! I wonder if it had those problems since it came from Freemont. Supposedly Giga Shanghai has better QC

Yes, I sold my 2016 Audi A6 3.0T and got Tesla 3 rear wheel drive, feel no different for acceleration
That's basically how fast the M5 used to be. Evs have warped our brains these cars are insanely quick by normal standards
@@davidz7858 based on magazine tests the a6 a3.0t did 0-60 in 4.6. Seems like you have a pretty quick model 3.
it's around tyhe same as mmy ecobbost mustang... That last cost 38k MSRP that I got $9K off. But yeah around 6 second 0-60MPH is very good.

Congrats on the M3 LFP. Can't wait to see how it charges on a SC and CCS. I'm happy to see more affordable cars showing up on OOS.
Lol. Dave will be replacing his electric civic in a month. Can’t wait to hear him rationalize it. “You know, its just too small”.
Ha ha, he's probably already thinking about what's next.
lol you were so on point, he just bought a Lucid Air GT
I drive the same car, and love it. The efficiency is amazing, the range is better when charged to 100% (every time, LFP!) than my wife’s MYP at 80%, and I’m old enough to remember the dark days when Corvettes couldn’t do 0-60 in 5.8sec.

If the IRS rules that the RWD M3 LFP doesn’t qualify for the full $7500 tax credit (only $3750) this will turn out to be good timing to buy.
On the order page there’s a “charging section” where they ask you if you want a mobile charger or wall charger with the option to select.
I picked up the same car but with white interior about 10 days ago. It's my first ev and absolutely love it.
We got the same last month. Ours had to back to service for 2 weeks after only a week because of a faulty connector to the HV battery that pretty much bricked the car but all has been good since we got it back.

Internal complaints (from store to factory) would be a lot more effective I think. Customers have been complaining about the fit/finish for years and while it seems to have gotten better, it’s still not where it should or could be with the capabilities at the factory. At this point the only conclusion is the factories don’t care enough to do better.
People keep accepting the cars so they really have no reason to care. The more people that reject the cars, the sooner they will give a sh1t.
You and your wife’s chemistry after 34 years is so super cute !!!☺️
Good call…100% charge daily being ok is….ok! Just got a ‘23 LR and charging to 80% in cold weather is just 290 miles or so. Hopefully I’ll see better when Spring hits.
Dave, did you look into a vaccine for CAR FEVER? 4 out of 5 doctors agree there is no cure. 😂
Ya. The vaccine is actually not available. I checked. So happy it’s not a thing
Woohoo! Enjoying my RWD LFP. You’ll love the efficiency and quick charging. It’s like to precondition!
Thank you 💕 for you recommendation,I will try something different this time around, can we talk more about it.?
Dave, your wife is a keeper. Listen to her wisdom. Hope that the new Tesla is a good one.
Thank you for your recommendation I will give my time to it and study their specifications more.
efficiency is AMAZING!!! Best tesla for the money an range plus all the new features added!! plus you van charge it to 100% everytime now
Two thumbs up for Out Of Spec Mom!!!!!!!!!!
Good choice Dave! I’ve got over 10K miles on my LFP Model 3 and I’m loving it!
I just took delivery on the same car, except with white seats. Anyway, I know it should be charged to 100% after each daily use, but the Tesla owner's manual strongly suggests that the car stay plugged in even after the charging is complete. DO YOU follow this advice on keeping it plugged in?
This couple is HILARIOUS. Love my Model S as well.
Yes, Alice and Ralph.
Rumor has it you sold the new RWD 3 already………I don’t make this stuff up. (Ok maybe I do but there is a lot of material to work with here) 😂
Fake News :)
When ya trading in the grouch in the passenger seat? 😂
Even entry level is expensive, but it’s important to see this end of the product line.
they have a smart, twizzy, and leaf....
Would have thought an all wheel drive for your winter climate would be more practical. I guess Kile can at least get you some winter tires…
Great video Dave, down to earth and honest, just waiting on my Model 3 Sr next month. Cheers from the UK 🍻
Don’t overpay for a refresh model s. It’s a lot of car for the $ if you get a good deal on one. Great cars. Just pricey
@@dconner9 Yea I am looking at 80k for a low mile 2022, but the Model Y performance I have on order will only be 50k after the tax credit
I just bought a 2018 model 3 long range with fsd I love it got it for 28k only 29k miles CLEAN I'm coming from 2 2020 Chevy bolts (great first ev cars) huge difference.. Tesla need to keep all color same price there gonna be way too many whites lol
Don't know why, but that, "I was thinking I'd just drop you off". Had me laughing in tears!
LMAO a brand new economy car with no floor mats. Disruptive ha ha.
I lived in New Jersey we get $4000 state credit off the total cost and no state tax for all ev cars which is great.
It's almost worth moving to NJ for these incentives! Almost... :)
How much longer would it take Tesla to get the fit and finish right to begin with?
Can't wait to see some roadtrips in this car! There is no content on this trim level.
Quality control still stinks though. It’s crazy to me you just purchased a new car but you need to bring it in to get it all readjusted. Uber credits because there are no loaners. Also shame on them for not mentioning the charger. For most people it’s their first EV
Tesla clearly has on their website where the chargers are listed that they are not included.
Congrats on the new car. You are single-handed keeping the auto industry afloat. But seriously looking forward to the new content.
I feel like Tesla should make the base RWD Model 3 come with the LR battery and stop putting the SR+ battery in there.
I'm getting mine Wednesday with white interior. Congrads.
Looks great. I just wish there was the option to not have the glass roof.
Congrats on your new ride. Y’all content is informative and entertaining.
All teslas have gaps, which makes it unique 😊
As long water doesn’t get inside it’s all good.
Out of spec mom has never said why she got rid of her model Y. I think she went to the Porsche Macan from the Y which I would’ve done as well but then she got rid of the Macan. She might need her own channel.
She did say once that she likes cars with buttons, which obviously the MY does not, and the Genesis and Macan do.
She didn't get the heated steering wheel that she hoped for.
@@scottbreseke716
You mean how it only had 1 setting? Supa hot.
I think they fixed that with mkre heat settings now...
Great choice! I have been very impressed with my 2023 Model 3 RWD. Very efficient and fun to drive.
3 great value but do you all think Y is a better buy bc higher demand and better trade in ?
Well… good luck with it! You've helped to boost Elon Isherwell's mood -as well as his net worth. I've driven my Model 3 for nearly 5 years, but personally… I prefer Kathy's taste in cars.
I am not going to neat pick…then it starts 😂
Everyone was scrutinizing their Tesla when we took delivery of ours in Irvine.
Range? Specifics of warranty? What options?
Can’t wait to hear more of your opinions on the RWD Model 3! I just took delivery of the same spec (aside from being Midnight Silver Metallic). Can’t wait to hear what your longer term thoughts and experiences are after owning the S, driving the Y, etc.
