I would love to see Dos Santos and Biles competing at the same time. Imagine how they'd push each other on floor!
Simone would get a much higher score because of her execution tho😅
I said the same thing as soon as I saw the Dos Santos mentioned. Its almost like biles inverted it and added the half twist at the end. (Im no gymnast just a fan so forgive me if I don't know technicsl terms 🤷🏿♂️)
@@MrTijai you're actually correct. Both skills have a half twist but at different points
@@MrTijai actually dos santos is harder because she does the skill completely forward while biles is backwards plus a half turn at the end. To do the dos santos 2, dos santos used to do the biles in training in 2003 ~ 2004, but she never did it in a competition
@@nicolasthainer6313 I never knew she practiced the Biles, I knew about the other woman doing it (again just a fan, and noy exactly a 'professional' at it lol). Impressive!
I wish more people did the Dos Santos II... it looks so beautiful
It's really difficult, you need a lot of height and rotation speed.
In training, Daiane use to do The Biles easily on preparation for Dos Santos II, it’s a whole different level of difficult. But Biles it’s already a legend, like Daiane was in her time. And now, all that I want is that Biles get better soon, e continues to improving, not giving up for any problems, unless she really decides that’s the best for her life and mental health. She’s a star anyway!

olha como são as coisas ´né, a Daiane executava o salto ''the biles'' em seus treinos como um pré aquecimento para executar o '' Dos Santos II''. mostrando claramente que o salto da nossa BR tem um grau de dificuldade muito maior que o da Americana
Other viewer already mention that Daiane used to do the Biles in training. I would love to see that, it must have been awesome.
Would possibly be true if there was a single instance of Daiane actually performing a dos santos ii. A slightly less piked Dos Santos I is still a Dos Santos I, just with poor execution.
@@SociallyDistantnow I agree. If people watched closely, they could see that dos santos is still piked in the dos santos II, just not as much as her first skill. She's still the only person who's been close to doing a laid out double Arabian though and the skill should DEFINITELY be rated higher than it is.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Ok, I think it’s safe to say that the “dos santos 2” should be upgraded to an “I” skill. No one has performed it since Daiane while multiple have competed a “Moors”

I love the skill, but I think H is appropriate. It was just a G for the longest time, but the forward landing makes it harder to control, which is probably part of the reason we don't see it. Even Daiane stopped competing it after a few years, often opting for a Chusovitina instead.
Diane would effortlessly pull a Biles during training just for kicks, she's untouchable.
Is it on video? I would love to see it.
Gina Gogean wasn't even close to completing both turns on that wolf double. It was, however, a good wolf 1.5.
She did a 1.75 (attempting 2 turns), she was closer in another competition but the video quality of that is very bad, so I used this one instead.
But she is Gina Gogean from Romania so it basically makes her wolf jump rotated (for judges of course)
I miss watching Daiane dos Santos compete, great gymnast, nice girl. Too bad she didn't stay at the top for too long. I believe she could've been even greater than she was.
She started gymnastics at the age of 11 it might be one of the reasons, she was considered best on floor for three years 😁

Yep, it's Simone, she does it because she can.
London Phillips performed "The Biles" in competition in 2005. She also competed a 3/2 double tuck in the same performance. She was ahead of her time.
Shame it wasn't in an official FIG competition, otherwise, she would have had the element registered under her name.
Then dismounted with a front layout double front. What a queen.

It's hard to find good quality footage of Dos Santos doing her skill from the right angle. The ones from the 2008 Olympics are mostly from the corner.

Manrique Larduet (CUB) is the only other gymnast (male or female) I’ve seen compete the Biles. It was in the men’s floor final at the 2017 World Championship in Montreal.

Now that I think about it... a quad twist seems very much within Simone's reach!
She is better at power tumbling, she doesn't even have a triple twist on her program, having said that, she was training a triple twisting Yurchenko on vault for a while.
Biles.made triple double nowdays it was the most difficult i have ever seen

No more than many other forward tumbling. It's more difficult than dangerous, you tend to come short on the landing.

I'd argue that Trinity Thomas does something that is exactly halfway in difficulty between the Biles and the Dos Santos II. I'm not a gym expert, but wouldn't Trinity putting her half twist slightly earlier in hers make it oh-so-slightly more difficult that Simone's?

Can somebody please explain the difference between Biles I and Dos Santos II on FX please because they kind of look the same to me? Thank you
The Biles is a double bwd layout with 1/2 twist just before landing, so the gymnast rotates backward. The Dos Santos consists of 1/2 twist at the start and then a double fwd layout, so the gymnast rotates forward. I hope this helps.

Daiane is untouchable.
Lots of girls have done a quad turn on floor. Its called the Gomez by Elena Gomez from Spain. Aside from her, a lot of them aren't done so cleanly.

I don't but I have added it to my video requests list and I will try to make one in the future. Can't tell you exactly when I'll be able to squeeze it in, but stay tuned.
I really really hope Chellsie competes the Dos Santos II cause she likes arabians and is pretty decent at them. before she hurt her ankle she was training it and said they were getting better

London Philips competed the biles and 1.5 twisting double and dismounted with a front layout double front in 2005! Ahead of her time.

Yes, you can actually see that, and the Biles vault on my other videos. The triple double is both on the 2019 World Gymnastics Champions video I made just after Worlds this year.

Trinity Thomas did a Biles, maybe with a variation. She did it successfully at least once.

I f I am not mistaken didn't an American gymnast perform a quad twist at the American Cup this year? I do not remember and do not feel like googling it, however I swore I saw it somewhere.
Monica Kelly Leanne Wong did a 3.5.

There is plenty of footage but I haven't find any that shows her landing it well and in good quality. If you have any examples of good landings, please let me know, I'll be happy to do an update on this video.
Yes, it's an amazing skill, shame I haven't been able any good quality footage of Pauline landing it well.
She landed with a 0.3 wobble there, unfortunately.

I remember at some point Nastia was training for a quad but she never got past a 3.5 (barely) and in the end had to drop her triple from her floor routine after her ankle injury

Adriana Lima it was as pikes as daiane’s one, which was credited as a layed out. So she did the same skill.

The Dos Santos II and Biles I are basically the same move, with the half twist at the beginning and end, respectively.
that makes a whole difference during execution. Biles makes the first spin of her double in back position while Dos Santos makes both spins of their double in the front position, putting more streess over her knees when landing and making landing slightly more difficult.
Can we just point out hatakeda is 18?!

The Biles on floor looks like some absolute black magic fuckery. I keep trying to see if I can pinpoint the moment she’s rotating forward but I can’t.
I saw a Chinese gymnast completed a Quintuple turn once in 2018 but don't remember her name...
If you remember which competition it was, I would love to watch it.

The dos santos ll in my opinion is not a true arabian double layout. Most of the time she’s a bit piked in the air and on the last half she always pikes more then tucks her legs before landing. One of my biggest pet peeves in the gymnastics world is this skill!

The video should say "female gymnasts" and not just "gymnasts" "Gymnasts" are also men. In regards to the tumbling in the video there are many men who do those skills plus much more difficult ones
This channel mostly males videos about female gymnastics and they say that all the time. I love this, Diane Dos Santos rocks.
