You have such a warm, wholesome energy, Claire, and it radiates through your videos. It's so nice to watch you reacting to your old video and seeing what you now have and what hasn't changed. This year, I essentially got all of my big wishlist plants. #1 Monstera 'Esqueleto', #2 Philodendron melanochrysum, #3 Heliconia rostrata. It wasn't anywhere near the top of my wishlist, but I picked up a Monstera obliqua for really cheap, which is just crazy to me after the insane price it was a few years ago. In fact, the 'Esqueleto' and the Heliconia were 20 AUD and the others were all cheaper. I also got a Maranta 'Lemon Lime', which I'd never even seen in person till about a month ago. I'm just focusing on growing everything well now that I'm happy with what I've got. Watching your videos doesn't really help though: Once I've sorted out a way to hang things, I think I really want an Anthurium pallidiflorum too 🙈, but I'm happy for now. I've loved 'Esqueleto' since the 90s, back when it was still misidentified, before there were any pictures of it on the internet, and I never thought I'd own one in my wildest dreams. The availability of plants in the last few years has been phenomenal. This year, I also put my Alocasia micholitziana in semi hydro (I think inspired by Emma) and she is just pumping out big beautiful leaves now. Every night, she guttates so much and I think it's just that the roots are now taking up water so well and there isn't yet enough leaf surface to match it and transpire it away. The oldest leaves that had been through the transition to semi hydro cracked off both of my big stems of it one night. It was the strangest thing because the two stems are mirroring each other in everything and even the old leaves popping off was mirrored. I think it was just a hydraulic issue with such high water pressure in the stems. The tips of those leaves had yellowed through the transition and because of that, they weren't really able to guttate. In any case, then new leaves came out which were even bigger and she's just starting to look incredible. I've even figured out the secret to caring for my tiny Fittonia. I've only grown them in terrariums before and I was a bit disappointed that the colours were fading even though the last few months here have been very warm and humid. I put the pot directly under one of the micholitziana leaves so that it drips into it at night and boom, the colour is coming back and it's starting to grow so well. I think it just needs a constant drip of water. I'm starting to think Fittonia would also be great in semi-hydro, but it's just so tiny. Anyway, thanks for all your content this year. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas!
If you’re still interested in Hoyas, look up H. Coriacea silver. I just got one and the leaves are so stunning! I am in love with it! I started to downsize my collection in general because my Hoya collection exploded this year. (more like took over 😂) I want to grow out a lot of these Hoya cuttings I purchased throughout this year. I started to give away some duplicate plants and others that I’ve kinda fallen out of love with. For now, I think my only wish list plants for 2025 are a Monstera Mint, a Hoya Madara green edge and spot #3 is debatable. It was fun to watch you obtain your wishlist plants! I don’t know why but I kill “string of anything” and I just ran across a variegated string of hearts last weekend. I passed it up. 😒
How do you care for the palletiflorum, how much light and fertilizer? Keep slightly moist or allow to dry out between watering? I just got a seedling, it’s so tiny!
Thank you for making the point that we are STEWARDS of our plants, and as such. responsible for their health and wellbeing. They are living beings and deserve respect.
Hello! I have Anthuriums for over 2 years and I am struggelling to move them from moss to pon. They rot pretty easily.. I dont know. I am afraid of pon now. That’s why I keep them almost all, in mix
I lost a warocqueanum this year lol😂 like, it's NOT FUNNY, I actually get really bitter when I lose plants. So I understand if it takes anyone a while to want another one....
I was just thinking, man its about time for another jungle haven video ❤
Me too literally while I was in the shower today lol
