This always made me wonder. Why Akbar was shown so empathetic and kind in modern day cinema and television. When we know reading history that he was not. Thankfully, finally, someone is speaking about it. I never understood why Bollywood liked to whitewash him as this Mr. Nice guy.

Honestly I don't think people fell for Akbar's character. Guess it was Hritik's looks and the poise with which he presented the character that people fell in love with. I was 12 year old too back when the movie was released, this brought back memories of good school days and the discussion in classrooms that how the movie and books are different

The Moghuls were outsiders to India who claimed Mongolian ancestry from Tamerlane and Genghis Khan. Not just in India, in many places when their are outside rulers, they tend to be cruel and uncaring of local indigenous cultures and peoples. The Moghuls, like most outside colonizers, ran an extractive economy that took from the local people. Contrast that to indigenous empires like Ahom, Chola or Vijayanagara where living conditions for the average person benefitted.
Obviously, when the administration is from the people and the administrators are connected with the public, it would lead to a booming economy and better living standards

That's why there have always been controversies associated with all historical fictions made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Directors like him have twisted the stories in the name freedom of creativity doing gross injustice to the characters whose names and characters were based on real people who existed. There is one thing to be inspired by a historical figure create a fictional story loosely based on them. But it's another thing to take a historical figure in its entirety and completely change the intent and execution of the decisions they took in those times or to fabricate false relationship stories about them that never existed.

Ashoka was Buddhist before Kalinga war and kaniska is very unique hybrid of vaishnvaite and Buddhism faith in his reigns Buddha also considered as 9 th avatar of visnu
Ashok had embraced Buddhism much before Kaling war... Not in old-age.
Yes , so true . Most of the Kings from our history were meant to be cruel . Even many Hindu Kings fought with each other , killing millions of people. I don't understand why people have so much fascination for Kings and Kingdoms . Concepts such as Humanity , human rights etc didn't existed back then .Killing someone was a sign of bravery and power . And yes you are right there is no difference with todays politicians . It's because Kings , politicians represent the evil mindset of masses whom they represent . People make Kings ,politicians as hero because they fight for their evil causes . You can take the example of todays world leaders .

Was there any king who ruled over large tracts and his rule did not involve any torture?
Thanks for bringing the truth to light 🔥❤️ bollywood deserves boycott
Watching a movie expecting that it's true story is kind of funny, that's why the disclaimer is given at the start of all movies...am not saying movies won't influence ppl, it will influence that's the fact, but art is art, the creator has some freedom he can twist and turn it...the movie is evaluated not by its exact minute depiction of facts only it's about the art form, acting, techniques and if it's not distorting the facts completely then it should be okay.
Now what is the truth, no one really knows...
Everyone are good for someone and bad for someothers, all kings with some ambition were cruel to many masses, they used to conquer, kill, rape and use ppl. They ruled as they seemed fit...many raided other territories including the Marathas, Tippu, Cholas, Guptas, everyone...that was the way of Life then.
What is treated as greatness or what defined greatness in those times were whether they ruled a massive territory or whether they were feared and respected by the majority... whether they commissioned great art and architecture during their reign...whether their Cities were renowned and multi cultural and that was the norm...in that aspect India had many great kings and Akbar was one of them.
So if u say some king was cruel then including Ashoka they were all cruel to someone at some point...and no one is great...anyone with power over masses tend to use it.. against them...that's the fact.
Depiction should not be biased that's true, and to an extent i can understand what's she sayn but i think she is also biased...
Mam is totally completely right.... The histories are all twisted..... Congrats Mam
Can she explain who the real Akbhar and jodha were? That would enlighten us way more than just saying movie isn’t accurate.
Please give the references !!!
Movies are about entertainment. Not about the "truth". Watch movies for entertainment. If you want to know the truth READ the right books.
People who watch movies and accept them as historical fact need therapy.
0:48 does not cite which book
Also paying real attention to the concept of half-truth by Medha
The song "jalaluddin" in Hustle 2.0 ..gives me the same feel
The truth is women had a hard time in the past. They had no rights whatsoever. Be it Jodha or Umrao Jaan or Mastaani or Mumtaaz Mahal.
No offence whatsoever
The lady also wasnt present during Akbar's time.
So framed opinion based on a subjective narrative can be ignored.
Thats why history podcast are worst.
Limelight hoggers are those who come up with a new version of every story which only they have red.
Since none of us were present during those days, conclusion cant be framed like that.
There are history references of that period which helps to reach the conclusions
fully agree
Hey Pingu Paangu there is no evidence that you were born to your own father that doesn't mean you are not your father's son same logic applies to your rhetoric statement.
@@santhoshreddy3882 where you there to validate your claims?
Atleast i have people around to figure out my birth.
So correct your senses and stop passing judgements.
@@Ipinguthepenguin their are evidence to back the lady claims.... Go read it and dont show ur poor brain capabilities in comments
Also ur logic through comments are equally funny like ur name pengu
Now she is speaking negatively about a mughal emperor. Not arguing whether he was or not. But now the comment section is positive compared to Aurangzeb one. Something to think about.
I totally agree with Medha ji
I stand unbiased. I am not taking sides. But whenever, some opinions are made it ought to be backed by appropriate proof.
Problem with biopics in India is that they need a big hero or actor to helm the project and then paint the subject as a hero as well. No one is willing to engage with a no holds barred, all shades depiction of truth and reality. But I don't blame the filmmakers also because someone somewhere always takes offence.
You should do interview with Mr Manu S Pillai he is a young historian he can give a lot of historical facts
His book the ivory throne was good to read about kings and queens of Kerala
as a student of history
I am able to understand what are you saying...
