I was the last Signalman on duty, the day the Box closed, what a shame they had it demolished. I left this poem on the frame :- " I gave blood sweat and tears, for eighty six long years. Now silent, dead I lie, a home to rats and flies, and only Ghosts remain of those who worked my frame." N.j.B.
I remember my uncle Bert worked at the Western Docks station & Dover priory. Amazing memories. Late 70s and early 80s. He still works on the railways today.
I used to be a Messenger boy on Dover Marine back in 1960, I used to take telegrams from the switchboard onto the ferries. This is a sad film but one I enjoyed. Stuart Grant.
When I went to England for the first time around 1974, we arrived in Dover but had to take the bus to London. The walk from the ferry to the parking lot where the buses were waiting was endless. Would have loved to take the train instead.
excellent video👍 i sadly never got to see it in them days but seeing old footage what it was like and now it saddens me what they have done to it it should have never have come to this it is a very big mistake they should hang there heads in shame 😠

Iron Duke was scrapped in 1967. Is this Oliver Cromwell in disguise?
