A Play School Initiative in Eastern Nagaland

To address the issue of early development among children in rural areas of Eastern Nagaland, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland supports the Play School initiative implemented by ECS in 110 villages in Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire, and Longleng districts of Nagaland.
The project is run in partnership with the local churches and the community and the main idea is to prepare children before their entry into formal school. The schools adopt the Montessori method of education which is centered on self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. The parents are integral to this design. Mothers accompany their children to school and actively participate and assist children in their learning process.
