It must be incredibly draining to play such a long game, I can't imagine keeping up with everything for such a long time. Great cast Lowko! A fitting game for the classic intro!
One of the better matches I've watched this year, being completely honest. Sure, I love the rapid fire of armies going down and being replaced constantly, but this felt more like a strategy game than the usual (guess the S in RTS finally came around). By the last 30~40 minutes of the match (basically, more than half the match, haha) the game was about playing smart. Hit and run, save your units, be conservative. And Spirit played that to a T.
You noted that Spirit missed some minerals, and even some gas, but what I don't get is why Reynor stopped mining the minerals that were right next to his army for a big chunk of the lategame standoff. He just had six drones clumped up inbetween those two remaining mineral fields and the nearest hatchery for several minutes.
@@3d_win If that was the overriding goal it may have been more effective to kill all his own buildings outside of his main base, then retreat into his main base, the narrow ramp may have improved his odds of avoiding casualties until the timer timed out. And may have prevented Spirit from being able to leverage his advantage to cleanly win an army fight. Though I do acknowledge that that's not really an intuitive conclusion to come to, and maybe would have provoked any referees.
Maybe, just my thinking, in reynor's mind, those minerals would gave him nothing, the few extra basic units that those mineral could have produce, will achieve nothing vs Spirit's army or base
@@failiuredoofus There's 0 chance of managing 0 casualties. A ghost has just to move forward, and zerg couldn't stop it as it's trying to ... not do any casualties ?? The draw thingie is only good for ending a game where terran put his buildings in the air without having any army left while the opponent only has ground army
im gonna be completely honest with u bro - i dunno jacksht about sc2 but every morning i put on a video and i listen to u talk while i sip on my coffee LOL
22:56 "30 Ghosts" I dont wanna "reeeeee Imba" but honestly, this shouldnt be possible. Ghosts are spellcasters and should support the army and not be the core. You dont see any other spellcaster becomes the main part of the army. In my opinion the Ghosts supply worth should be increased from 2 to 3. Additionaly, maybe a weaknes? They are tagged as biological and psyonic. With their 100hp it takes 7 banelings to take one out, nothing really counters them, also not zerglings since Ghosts have bonus dmg to light units. They should be tagged with light too and remove bonus dmg against light. Just my 2 cents, if anyone wants to discuss this, I´m open. Anyway, awesome game and cast as usual!
Its simply a bad design to put too much power on a single unit. But we have the same problem with the Queen in the early game. And the issue with both units are, if you nerf them hard, how you gonna replace them? Would you be okay if EMP before moved to the Raven instead? And then buff the Libs/Tanks so that they can make up the damage output from Snipe? Increasing supply just doesnt make sense, unless you want to do the same thing to the Queen. And its not like you see 30 Ghost marching on creep, sniping down everything and win the game by themselves. What make the Ghost so good is the defensive set up from Terran that make it next to impossible to catch up unless you completely overwhelm the position, or get some great fungal shot. What bring on the Ghost full power has been the turtling style that Terran using more and more efficient.
@@tigera6 well the difference with the queen and ghost is, that the queen is a defensive spellcaster with 2 out 3 spells for the makro. The queen is strong in the early game and she has to be because its the only thing that can actually defend and its not like zergs are unkillable with queens in the early game, also queens and ghosts dont usually interact in the early game so I dont see why the queen needs to be nerfed too when the ghost gets nerfed? Also it doesnt make sense to produce 30 queens while 30 ghosts are a thing and when you have so much of them, terrans start sniping zerg like banelings. Well I didnt say that they snipe alone without any support everything away but they should be a support unit. increasing the supply will automatically decrease the number of ghosts on the field and make them more of a support unit.
@@BestPrezz The current meta has Queen defending against everything in early game push, until Terran can has enough unit to out-damage them. They are literally unkillable because of the amount of health and healing they can have. Couple that with a group of cheap Zerling and you can defend against almost everything from Terran in early game. Tell me which unit early from Terran that Queen cant defend? But there is nothing you can do about it balance-wise, because you dont have a reliable defensive unit other than Queen in early Zerg game. The same thing with Ghost, where you cant find the alternative to replace them in the current meta. If you want to remove Snipe, then you need to replace that with a reliable, mobile damage dealer against the speed unit of Zerg. Tanks and Libs are great defensively but susceptible to surrounded and spellcaster from Zerg, because they are extrememly immobile. If you nerf Ghost, then you need to give Terran something else to make up for it, would you want to give Raven more power? Make Anti-Armor missle become the old Heat Seeker Missile again? Or make Banshee something more useful than just die straight up to Queen/Hydra? Dont just say nerf a unit just because you think its OP, try to think why it has to be that way and if you nerf it, whats the alternative to promote the discussion.
@@tigera6 yeah i agree that the queen is an allrounder but as I said, you can kill a zerg in the early game, the queen is not unkillable or overpowered in my opinon. I never said to remove the snipe? Just that its ridiculous to see 30 ghosts walking around like marines. I also never said that ghosts are OP, and how it is now is not a must have, terrans can also win with less ghosts its just more comfortable with more since ghosts counter everything of the zerg and protos.
@@tigera6 remember 15+ infestor? it was called "bad design". interesting.... what did zerg get as compensation for IT? Microbial Shroud.... + no dmg buff for any unit. just remove snip and give a support spell.

did spirit even need to bother cloaking the ghosts on their sniping missions when there was an overseer and spores present? saving their energy would have allowed an even higher frequency of snipes
Better safe than sorry I guess. Sometimes it did feel like it was just wasting energy, but since he was coming from the bottom of a ramp against spores (high field of vision), better avoid the Broods sniping all the way from Brazil. Mutas are good at keeping terran "honest" so to speak.
