    Don't forget to retorque the bolts after a 500km/310miles! This is extremely important, as the bolts will lose some of their clamping force due to the aluminum still deforming. Read the manual.

    After you refit the subframe, be sure to get a 4 wheel alignment done to make the most out of the collars. Actually, when you do any mods to the suspension or chassis it is a good idea to at least check the alignment after you've finished. A few manufucturers like Ford and Vauxhall/Opel (a GM owned company in the UK and Germany) recommend getting at least a front end alignment done every 6 months! Making sure all the wheels are pointing in the directions they should be makes such a massive difference to how the car feels and the feedback you get through the steering!

  • @series5tii

    I thought you are suppose to coat the collars in antiseize?

    Dude. Are you sure you put the anti-seize on the bolts? Wouldn't that loosen your bolts and make them come out easier? That would be fricken dangerous. The AS should be placed on the collars themselves to prevent the collars from locking. If I'm not mistaken, the video from Spoon themselves had the AS on the collars.

  • @Z32orDIe
    @Z32orDIe 9 лет назад +2

    GTChannel you never used the anti seize on the colars before installing them in the subframe... tisk-tisk ;]

    so I'm really considering of buying this for my 92-95 civic trackday build car. would you recommend this for me? I allready got PU Energy suspension master kit, SI/VTI swaybars strut towers F + R, half rollcage and a Subframe strut from Summit (lower front).

  • @uhohitzluke
    @uhohitzluke 9 лет назад

    Do you need to take the wheels off while dropping the sub frame? Also, do you have to worry about the steering column/steering rack when lowering the subframe? Finally, I thought you were supposed to apply the copper grease to the faces of the collar, not the threads of the bolts?

    • @BaseddZ32tt
      @BaseddZ32tt 9 лет назад

      no you dont remove the wheels...they did because they were filming if and the wheels were blocking the camera.they made it seem like dropping the subframe is a piece of cake...its not!!! steering rack is not the issue..damaging the a/c lines and rear engine connectors are the only "dangers"to dropping the subframe...they only dropped it about 1-2 inches and were very careful, however I did not like how they did not warm you about the AC and engine sensors.

  • @lancercool1992
    @lancercool1992 6 лет назад

    this is also a subframe alignment kit that eliminates the need for a "subframe shift", am I right?

  • @marciosilva89

    Aren't you supposed to loosen the steering rack column before drooping the subframe!

  • @CaliPatriot88

    If they're designed to be crushed in between the body shell and the subframe doesn't that mean you can only use them once? If you later remove the subframe with these installed wouldn't you have to replace them?

    • @19295668
      @19295668 8 лет назад

      not for real because the ring of the colla is just one millimeter so it don't crush for real.

    It would be great if you could do a before and after or at least a review of the product...
    Test the part before you change it or at least give a subjective feel if it cant be measured..
    I always wanted to do the subframe collars but my mechanic said it was not to do anything.. i get the tech side of it but he says it has nothing to do with holding the subframe tight enough
    In any case for the brakes you can measure the brakinfg difference from oem to alcon and so on with the other products..
    Thanks for the videos anyway

    You guys need a subframe adapter that fits onto a transmission jack, waaaaaaay easier than 3 screw jacks.

    Is there a reason why Honda designed the s2000's subframe with so much play in it? Would I feel the benefits from the rigid collar kit on the street? I don't plan to put anything grippier then summer tires on my s2000.

    • @OrionTheChonk
      @OrionTheChonk 9 лет назад

      Le Enderman It's something all subframes have to deal with. This problem isn't just for the S2000. I own a Genesis Coupe and was recommended I get the collars. From what I've heard, you will definitely feel benefits on just normal street driving. Since I don't have them yet, I can't back that up with personal experience.
