Was the vanos NOT the chain at all the VANOS still okey today but little tips OEM and clean the vanos;=) but chain thensioner is also important to change.
Update: I have taken the car to a bmw dealer and have confirmed it is nothing and NOT bored and another mechanic is also listening to the car having said it was normal. But has changed the tensioner and it goes quieter then, vibrating less and making less noise. Update:2 also change 2 new vanos and 2 camsensor and more small things but important update vanos its recommended to replace and change oil often always I say it again change oil often and use correct oil with good quality its VERY important on this cars. Example code P0012 can be many things BUT first change oil +filter and the code will be gone just a example its imortant to change oil often. I have cleaned vanos,new oil and filter and new spark plugs and 1 new coil and new timing chain densioner. The car runs fine now see the update. But the timing chain is not changed but the car now soon 165km and I hope the will hold long beacuse the car runs smooth.
