8 months late but, while I completely agree with what you’re saying, Oberon was never the Lostbelt King. He was created by Faerie Britain itself as a doomsday device to destroy the British Lostbelt. There were two other attempts before Oberon, but they were both stopped by Morgan. The planet had to get sneaky if it was going to destroy Faerie Britain with Morgan around, so they summoned the Faerie King Oberon as a way to hide Vortigern from her and essentially tasked him to find a way to topple the Faerie Kingdom before he can destroy Britain. By all means, it should’ve been impossible to do since Morgan created such a brilliant kingdom, but even the greatest trees fall if a bug starts to nibble through its roots. So by meticulously planning, scheming, making life in Faerie Britain a little worse for everyone, and enlisting help from Chaldea and the Child of Prophecy, he managed to do the impossible and destroy Faerie Britain and the British Lostbelt. It's some of column A, some of Column B, in my opinion. There has to be some truth about his claims about being unable to tell the truth, even if he wants to. Otherwise, some of his actions make no sense, like him kicking Blanca off the Storm Border. It's a lot easier to wrap your ahead arpund Oberon's nature if you think of him as someone who is always lying, as opposed to someone who can't tell the truth. No matter what he says, some facet of it will always be false. For example, when he talked about Titania, he said that he loved her, but he also said that "Titania could only ever exist in fiction" and "No one else other than Titania could love the selfish Oberon". Maybe my new favorite antagonist in the whole series. There’s so much to unpack with his character, from his motivations to his conflicting thoughts and feelings towards the Lostbelt, Chaldea, and fictional stories in general.
To me myself and I obereon is Supreme he's up there as one of my favorite not just fgo characters but characters in general he's so interesting fascinating and not to mention wonderfully designed everything about him is written to perfection i can find no fault in the mothman he is awesome
I think people misunderstand Oberon's character as a person who only lies. The whole gist with him is that you can't trust his words, so you are safer not trusting him than sometimes trusting him. He does speak honestly a couple of times. Like when he speaks about Caster (he really cared for her), when he speaks to you in the dream world and his loathing regarding fairies and Britain. He is also honest when he falls into the abyss, wanting Chaldea to escape. His biggest lie is when he claims he always lies.
Oberon deception worked because as you said he was using people already preexisting wants and twisted them: the fact is his actions were invaluable in bringing down Morgan, which was in everyone's, including Chaldea best interest. Even had we known his ultimate goal, the fact remains that accepting hid assistance was necessary for everyone up until the very end where the shoe dropped. It's the same thing with aurora, whom, even had we known we benefitted from most of her actions, excluding londinium fall and cnoc assassination. Their plans was good because hindsight would have only helped in the very crucial final moments
Lostbelt 6 truly is a masterpiece, and while Nasu was the composer of this work of art, Oberon was the conductor moving the plot forward, making sure each piece would fall where it should. Great analysis Tsiah, I always appreciate people expanding on Oberon's depth. He is definitely my favourite of part 2 if not of all FGO.
Oberon really is an awesome character, I had managed to avoid spoilers about whom he really was until I finished the LB. And I kicked myself for not guessing it was Vortigern, so much is there to go on but he's so compellingly written with certain winks to the audience that allow the reveals of his plots to actually be REVEALS rather than looking like they are pulled from Nasu's rear.
BrOberon-Vortigen did nothing wrong~( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) If you see what happened in Barghest's hometown, you can see how it wasn't worth letting Fearys onto proper human history. Nevermind the Mors Calamity curse they would bring with them. But no matter what anyone (including BrOberon-Vortigen himself) says, I'll always love this guy. He's too great! That and he ACTUALLY won! He even brags about it in My Room~! He's above every Lostbelt Long in terms of impact and deeds to his many True Names. And we technically never finished him off either. Kinda like Lion King in the Camelot Singularity.
That last part is so true tbh. It does make me laugh a little there's quite a sizable number of people who think he's full of it because Qin Shi Huang also had his goal of ruling humanity. Still dunno why people think QSH is a bro, but they forget he wanted to rule *forever*. And us stopping him, stops it from being forever. So yeah Vortigern gets to brag being the only king where his plan worked out and by the time Ritsuka figured him out, it wouldn't matter anyway if the truth came out.
@@icefiredragon94 QSH is a bro because when we challenged his convictions, he saw we had merit to our argument, and instead of crushing us with his mechanical body like he could have, he built an entirely new human-esque body to 1v1 us. @@trdl23 Ah, well. I guess. Do appreciate you aren't as toxic as QSH's fans were when they heard Oberon's "I'm the only winning king" line. That was a fun time 2 years ago.
If Koyanskaya thinks a person is dangerous and she is a protobeast you know the person is an absolute monster. Oberon Vortegern and Artoria Avalon/Altria Caster are playing 5D Chess whilst everyone else is barely keeping up with 1/3 of their moves. Like in the tales in the lostbelt manga where we see the reason why he can even be summoned as a heroic spirit is due to her referral. Do note that as they are both Fae from outside of Farie Britain (or have a saint graph squashed with one) they kept their Fae Eyes and abilities to detect Falsehoods. Which is even more ironic cause Oberon The Liar has eyes that see the truths, which makes him even more able to play and twist peoples motivations by being a whirlpool where even true things become lies. I do like the fact that there added the options for the Protagonist to be aware of what and who he is in the final chapters of the Lostbelt. Which shows the experience and growth as the Master who has experienced litteral Beasts, Gods, Demons, Kings, Emperors, etc and has learned so much since the early days of Act 1.
I realized just today after watching this video and messing around in FGO that Kiara moon cancer comments on Oberon and what he is as well if Kiara is in your room.
I think he really cared for Blanca He nonchalantly kicked her corpse and didn’t seem bothered by her death But since all he ever does is LIE or everything he says eventually turns into lie Then we can derive that he is lying about not caring about Blanca
This dude literally tricked Castoria by lying to her despite knowing full well she has Fae Eyes and can see through his every lie. And let's downplay Castoria's Fae Eyes and deductive ability. Knocknerea during Summer 8 quite literally play the role of Oberon in LB 6, a benefactor who is also a problem, but while Castoria was able to figure out what is happening by simply looking at Knocknerea, she wasn't able to do with Oberon. It is simply because Oberon is that good a lying. Dude working on another level and out every Pretender in the class to shame.
Considering Oberon is too good as a Manipulation villain. Nasu depiction of Marisbury might be even suppress Oberon. Mind you, that mf is responsible for the entirety of Fgo plot.

Nasu: Dude, thrust me, Oberon IS the main villain of LB6! Me: The fuck you're talking about? He's the actual fuckin' hero of this shit! This LB deserved to burn from the very start!
He played us good and played us hard by being founded us from the start not only he fooled us till the end he did it impressively this what a good manipulator and mastermind should be if evil was a name it would be Oberon Vortergern
The only reason why he doesn't qualify as a Beast Class is because of lack of love for humanity due to his true fae eyes and cursed to deceive nature. He has the Beast passive anyway of Anti Human Order. It's possible through some reach and setting, Nasu could give him an alt version as one of the Lostbelt Beasts when he's his favorite and special boy. He is a threat to the celestial body, like ORT, not just the world. Kirschtaria's warning in LB5 was to undo those two lostbelts due to them as mouthpiece foreshadowing.
For all the hiding in plain sight you can catch he was the king of mors early on after the burning of wales when he kills the mirror clan horse dude. But that was not enough to say he was a villain because the king of mors was an enemy of morgan.
When you think about it, since everything Oberon does is a lie (I think?) Him kicking Blanca off the vessel with a halfhearted thanks is the greatest thanks he could give. Well, that's according to what I heard.
If only the games weren't separated by 2 years😢 knowing Oberon was a pretender made me look at him differently the entire time. The plot was still amazing and still caught me by surprise. But once i see the red dialogue pop up i had no choice but to pick it😂

Cern's body was the foundation of Faerie Britain's landmass. Oberon could devour faeries and the land composed of their corpses, but the Abyssal Wurm couldn't do anything about a powerful celtic god, even if said god was a corpse. As a result of his identity as "Britain's self-destruct button," he had to wait until the anchor was out of the way.
Think of it like this, The Abyssal Worm is a self destruct button and Cernunnos' corpse is a glass cover over that button you need to break the glass before you can press the button.
Like all evil servants he does in some way like us,but it's probably more of a begrudging acceptance of ritsuka's individual traits rather than a liking of him as a whole
I’m not gonna lie, from the beginning of the lost belt I didn’t trust Oberon, his art being so cartoony, his here there come and go attitude, the fact he apparently had been summoned for a while, yet isn’t a fighter was just odd to me. I thought he was gonna be beryl’s servant
Maybe it's just me but I can't get over Oberon always looking like a 2D cardboard cutout. At least with his initial appearance he's wearing way to much white and it kinda looks like he popped of the pages of a fairy tail into the real world kinda like DoodleBob from Spongebob.
@@Bababooey4316 looks unnecessary to me, they could just stick with him lying to be a ruler. I feel like there are more small details for why they chose to do that.
@@HAXKSA14 I should've clarified that's all just a theory of mine. But it could be even ehat you're saying dince until they cinfirm it we'll never know lol
Would be good to see him go down as a beast he could be a variation of depravity because humans deprived him of being able to be with titania or he could be greed because he was willing to sacrifice everyone to achieve his goal of becoming the worm and devouring the world
In order to become a Beast, someone needs a love for humanity, even if it gets twisted and corrupted into something abominable. That's why Douman couldn't ascend to Beasthood in Heian-Kyo. Oberon-Vortigern has no love for humanity. He has no love for faeries. He only has love for fantasy, and the queen he'll never meet.
I believe It's never outright said, but Castoria mentioned multiple times that the way Oberon spoke reminded her of Merlin, who at the time of her mentioning this, she had only encountered through the staff of selection. There's some odd things we can notice when we get the flashbacks to her speaking to the staff too, like Merlin speaking through the staff of selection despite being trapped in one of Morgan's gardens, his need to take multiple days of researching before teaching Artoria any spells, and finally how he never spoke to Artoria through the staff again even when it was returned to her. Combine that all with how Oberon was immediately familiar with Castoria, as well as Castoria's relationship line with the real Merlin (Who despite being in the Lostbelt, was still proper human history Merlin), where she questions if Merlin is actually the real one, and we can make a reasonable argument that Oberon had impersonated Merlin. I'm unsure if there was ever any official confirmation, but that's the evidence I found at least.
Adding some assumption on the discussion. Merlin known to be so carefree and chill, also as i recall never even once he swear either in the main story or the event he's in. Merlin that Castoria know through the Staff on the other hand, constantly throws swear and correcting himself afterwards. When Vortigern finally reveals himself to us, he constantly throws tantrum and insulting every existence.
What are ya’ll talking about? Shakespeare was caster of Red. Achilles and Karna were also on the red team. Red team was already busted. Oberon would’ve just been extra overkill.

Its really interesting that not only in the game, but Oberon literally hijacked his way unto the top IRL by making Nasu rewrite the chapter.
What's more interesting that if you choose to feel suspension of him there's secret dialogue selection that's we already know about his lies.
BRO YES! Oberon is the goat, and defiantly in my top 3 all time favorite antagonists.
By far my favorite character from the chapter. Truly a top tier villain for the verse.
BrOberon-Vortigen did nothing wrong~( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
If you see what happened in Barghest's hometown, you can see how it wasn't worth letting Fearys onto proper human history.
And THEN after we won, he took down his own Tree to honor his word.
@@trdl23 Ah, well. I guess. Do appreciate you aren't as toxic as QSH's fans were when they heard Oberon's "I'm the only winning king" line. That was a fun time 2 years ago.
@@icefiredragon94 wait, people seriously got mad about that?!
@@icefiredragon94 It helps that I adore Oberon too!
Despite being the greatest lier he's the only servant who keeps it real
I realized just today after watching this video and messing around in FGO that Kiara moon cancer comments on Oberon and what he is as well if Kiara is in your room.
She does???
Yes I've waited for this tsiah and you frickin delivered
This video is really cool. I think I heard that even if he met Titania he wouldn’t be able to accept her
Yeah, he says so in his final moments, something alongside him meeting Titania would also be a lie. ruclips.net/video/XyfmzJ0AEWo/видео.html
I think he really cared for Blanca
He nonchalantly kicked her corpse and didn’t seem bothered by her death
But since all he ever does is LIE or everything he says eventually turns into lie
Then we can derive that he is lying about not caring about Blanca
Definitely does. That's why he's sitting on top of her in his stage 4 art.
I think Oberon ALSO has Fae Eyes. So he can tell when everyone, but himself, lies
Oberon Vortigern is Aizen from Bleach but if he actually fully succeeded with his plan.
I don't know about Pan-Human Vortigern, but the Planet's System VORTIGERN, is my favorite
"After all, you're Oberon the liar"
That introduction was.. amazing.
Oberon is my favorite character in FGO truly a masterclass of a character !
bro really call out the artoria faces 💀
also W video man love the fact that you use oberon theme for his special video 🔥
Damn, a lot of work went into this character.
His upcoming summer outfit is sick AF
My Dude was The Mastermind of all
The intro for this vid was so cold
Considering Oberon is too good as a Manipulation villain.
Nasu depiction of Marisbury might be even suppress Oberon.
Mind you, that mf is responsible for the entirety of Fgo plot.
I’ve been waiting for this, wondering when you would cover the mothman.
Great work as usual.
Easily my favorite servant as of recent memory. And my favorite out of this lostbelt. For a pretty huge fucking liar he's true to himself more than most people.
Nasu: Dude, thrust me, Oberon IS the main villain of LB6!
Me: The fuck you're talking about? He's the actual fuckin' hero of this shit! This LB deserved to burn from the very start!
He is so good i lost count how many times i watched this video
Legit gave me chills, when I found out his identity
He played us good and played us hard by being founded us from the start not only he fooled us till the end he did it impressively this what a good manipulator and mastermind should be if evil was a name it would be Oberon Vortergern
such an amazing villain
The only reason why he doesn't qualify as a Beast Class is because of lack of love for humanity due to his true fae eyes and cursed to deceive nature. He has the Beast passive anyway of Anti Human Order. It's possible through some reach and setting, Nasu could give him an alt version as one of the Lostbelt Beasts when he's his favorite and special boy.
He is a threat to the celestial body, like ORT, not just the world. Kirschtaria's warning in LB5 was to undo those two lostbelts due to them as mouthpiece foreshadowing.
The greatest lies are weaved into the truth : the character
Anansi might be a Pretender class candidate
Goatberon is GIGGACHAD
Nah he’s a puss.
For all the hiding in plain sight you can catch he was the king of mors early on after the burning of wales when he kills the mirror clan horse dude. But that was not enough to say he was a villain because the king of mors was an enemy of morgan.
This guy.
Thank you for the video!!!
But once i see the red dialogue pop up i had no choice but to pick it😂
Which is what I’ll be doing if I ever get to Lostbelt 6😂
wait, was the dialogue actually red in the game? I don't think I remember that
@@Vitou777 you have to make some choices before the finale of lostbelt six to get these dialogue options but they were indeed red. Maybe you didn't choose the right dialogue and didn't get these choices which is why you might not remember them being red
@@free_instructions2259 yeah that's probably it, and I feel disappointed in myself. I did see video thumbnails of the Oberon fight so I knew beforehand, I wonder if that affected my answers and I purposefully chose to ones that don't suspect him. Either way, too late now.
That one time when my uncle turned into an eboy and did a little bit if trolling.
Just pure beast vortigern is him
7:39 can someone explain to me about this part of ritsuka character. I don't think I ever realized this part of him
Alright... that was a fire intro I won't lie
Imagine the insanity normies will go through if Lostbelt 6 gets an anime. Normies have always thought its 7 classes but now its 13.
i like the live version of oberon's theme
The violin goes crazy
I'm not sure if this was specifically mentioned, but why did Oberon need Cernunnos out of the way? Couldn't the Abyssal Worm just eat him?
Cern's body was the foundation of Faerie Britain's landmass. Oberon could devour faeries and the land composed of their corpses, but the Abyssal Wurm couldn't do anything about a powerful celtic god, even if said god was a corpse. As a result of his identity as "Britain's self-destruct button," he had to wait until the anchor was out of the way.
Think of it like this, The Abyssal Worm is a self destruct button and Cernunnos' corpse is a glass cover over that button you need to break the glass before you can press the button.
The goat himself, definitely sleep on him (in bed)
I am genuinely curious to know how he feels truly feels about ritsuka.Cause he has stated both qualities that he likes and doesn’t like about him.
People can feel a certain way about characters without leaning to either side. It's always personal preference
The problem is that he seems to always be lying.
Like all evil servants he does in some way like us,but it's probably more of a begrudging acceptance of ritsuka's individual traits rather than a liking of him as a whole
With the way he talked/behaved to before and after revealing himself, i think he genuienly likes ritsuka as a person
Great video wouldn't mind a don't sleep on oberon as well to see how strong he
actually is.
So how can we be able to summon him anyway?
Last thing about him being seen is when he was falling into the void pit.
Maybe it's just me but I can't get over Oberon always looking like a 2D cardboard cutout. At least with his initial appearance he's wearing way to much white and it kinda looks like he popped of the pages of a fairy tail into the real world kinda like DoodleBob from Spongebob.
If he pretended to be Ruler why is he an Archer when we control him that one time in the forest?
To fuck with us gameplay wise
@@Bababooey4316 that makes no sense.
@@HAXKSA14 it was the devs way to make us guess what class would he get when becoming playable/ another way to tell us the players that he's lying
I should have summoned on his banner summoned for Merlin instead 😭
The LB6 content is HERE
So is Oberon basically heath ledger joker
Would be good to see him go down as a beast he could be a variation of depravity because humans deprived him of being able to be with titania or he could be greed because he was willing to sacrifice everyone to achieve his goal of becoming the worm and devouring the world
In order to become a Beast, someone needs a love for humanity, even if it gets twisted and corrupted into something abominable. That's why Douman couldn't ascend to Beasthood in Heian-Kyo.
Oberon-Vortigern has no love for humanity. He has no love for faeries. He only has love for fantasy, and the queen he'll never meet.
he doesn't love humanity so he can't be a beast
Hes such a goob
Wait didnt Morgan sealed Barghest Memories away?
No it was Oberon
I think Morgan granting the name Gawain suppressed it a little
2:57 when was it said that oberon was impersonating merlin?
Implied in the story. Not directly told.
his VA spoil it in the Drama CD.
When Vortigern finally reveals himself to us, he constantly throws tantrum and insulting every existence.
ruclips.net/video/L0u29U69jR8/видео.html here's the part in the official dramalogue, that's definitely oberon
Imagine if Shakespeare summoned Oberon-Vortigen in Apocrypha...
Obereon wins by diffault well. Maybe not Because they have Karna and Achellies
@@Umbreon650 Hmm, I'm trying to imagine how Karna and Achilles can escape Oberon-Vortigen's Abyssal Worm... But none that seems plausible.
What are ya’ll talking about? Shakespeare was caster of Red. Achilles and Karna were also on the red team. Red team was already busted. Oberon would’ve just been extra overkill.
If I'm ever to lie in the future I wanna lie like vortigern💯 also give me the drip🔥🔥🔥
my goat fr. just got him np2 on jp last night 😭
