I can do that the next time I get one to put on. I just did one on the 4.8L. The stock truck pan will work unless you have a lowered truck. My GMT400 chassis requires a lower pan since the truck pan hangs below the frame, same on the c10 chassis
I’m running an LQ4 with 862 heads, longtubes, but mild cam in a 69 F body. With a SS2 cam and a good tune, what power numbers do you think I could expect?
You should run a Summit Single Plane Cam 240/252 .569/.569 106 (with 1.7 rockers, 1.8 rockers are equal to 244/256 .604/.604 106 at the valve)With dished pistons and 317 heads a LQ4 has 9.4:1 compression, using 706/862 heads drops 10cc of chamber volume, raises compression to 10.6:1 with 0.051" head gaskets, if you use a 0.027" head gasket that will raise your compression 0.7:1 for 11.3:1. Other wise flat top 4" pistons will also add 0.7:1. The 240/252 is like the grown up version of the Truck Norris. You'll get better results if you port the heads and possibly if you have the intake valves upped to 2", you can buy remanned 862/706 heads with 2" intakes for like $600-700 a pair on eBay. You'll only lose 9hp peak for 500rpm upstairs with the smaller valves, you'll gain 10-15tq for 1200-1500 rpm in the middle with the smaller valves on a 6.0 according to Holdner's testing, without heads ported upping valve size the point of diminishing returns on cam duration may be reached earlier. I have wrestled for a long time myself trying to decide the best plan of action for an LQ4 I have and if I want to use a set of 706s or 241s(milled down to at least 64cc), dished or flat top, cams, intakes, head gaskets, in a relatively heavy 2004 GTO with tall 3.46 gears and a T-56. Those are some of the considerations I worked out.
Holley brawler 650 with electric choke that has been removed. Plenty of CFM to run this 6.0 in the truck it’s suppose to go into. But I’m going to be putting EFI back on it for final install
Depends what your going to be using the vehicle for. I always go with a Brian Tooley truck stage 2 cam since it sounds good and doesn’t require a torque converter. But one of the trucks I’m building will be getting a truck Norris cam from Brian tooley racing and it will have a 3k stall converter.
@@Greymancustomz it’s a 91 k1500, I wanna make it into a street truck, I don’t mind getting a bigger stall. I’ve also got some 1 7/8 long tube headers and a fast lsxr intake, I’m trying to push 400 whp
Will you do a video on swapping the ls oil pan to an “F-body” style? Do you need to swap pans to put this one in the truck?

What carb you running that with ?

I think you would be 350-380 but that’s because your lacking a little compression compared to the ls2 that is rated for 400hp

Is that cam pretty good ? I’m build the same combo with supercharger
It sounds really good but I haven’t ran it in a vehicle yet.
How can u tell from a lq4 n lq9 is there markings on blocks
Dished pistons in the LQ4 and flat top pistons in the LQ9
What head gasket size did you run?
I’m running the stock OEM head gaskets
That shit sounds ROWDY AF!!!!😮 💪🏼 is going to HOOK & BOOK for sure
Just earn yourself a Sub Brother☝🏼
Thank you. I’m looking forward to getting it installed into the truck. More video on the engine and the 4wd 56 Chevy truck it’s going in soon.
@@Greymancustomz nice going to do the same on my wife’s 99 2dr Tahoe 4x4
@@DaBundle3k stall converter ?
What cam is it?
BTR truck Norris
How much power would something like this make ?
Haven’t dyno tested it yet. I’m going to build another one since I sold this one
@@Greymancustomz ok cool let us know when you do because if this makes good enough power then no need for ls3 then
For the budget I think this is going to be a good route. Maybe add on some ls3 heads.
@@Greymancustomz very well might look for a 6.0 then thank you for the idea

I also got a lq4 with some 243 ported heads, I still don’t know what cam to get
