    very interesting, thanks! how would one attach the covers? by stitching it to the spine?

      Good question! Yes, the sewing on the spine is actually how the cover is attached, so it's pretty and functional!

    Hi how far apart should the puncture marks be?

      I would say at least 1/4" to 3/8". We typically do this stitch supported on linen tapes, and then the spacing is dependent on the width of the linen tape support we are using. But when you are doing unsupported, it comes down to personal preference for the most part. You just wouldn't want they too close together, so no less than 1/4".
