The reason sailors distrust bananas is because they excrete some chemical as they ripen which makes other fruit ripen faster, which hastens the spoiling of whatever fruits are stored for the sailors to eat and places everyone in danger of developing scurvy
Actually all ripening fruits and vegetables produce it, it’s just that bananas when they do turn, turn quick and they release a lot more than most than they do.
Also, from my uncle who was in the french navy, sailing in the caraibean, bananas often have a parasitelike plant on them which gives you la dingue idk how to say it in english but it's a pretty bad diseases. It's at the top or bottom end iirw, this is why u gotta cut it big just in case but normally u see a black sting
Fun fact, because most people don't know this: The bathroom/toilets on old ships were at the head of the boat (the front where the pointy part sticks out), and only the captain would have a private toilet in his quarters, though passenger rooms might have a chamber pot. That's why bathrooms are sometimes called a head, literally because of where they were placed on ships. The reason they were placed there is because the water would flush out the waste when a wave hit, so you wouldn't have to clean it yourself.
@@andywap3 No that is a corruption of a french term that became the naming convention of it. The french called that deck 'la poupe' which just referred to the stern deck roof. So over time it just became corrupted by english speakers, much as english is a corruption of french and german to begin with, la poupe just became the poop and hence the poop deck.
I love and can't get the idea of frost being a dm describing everything to it's most detailed thank you y'all for being such great characters and people
Fun garden fact: unlike most farm animals, rabbit droppings are considered "cold", meaning they do not need to be aged and can be used to garden immediately 🌱
Additional fun rabbit dropping fact: the harder rabbit droppings you usually see are twice digested because they eat their own 'soft' feces to absorb all its nutrients.
@TWay-xn9dm I’m no expert but as I understand it, raw manure shouldn’t be used to fertilize a garden or especially a farm because such manure is full of all sorts of bacteria and viruses from the digestive tracts of animals. These microbes can transfer disease to the plants, or more importantly any person who eats fruits or vegetables contaminated with fresh manure. To prevent this, manure should be composted with of without plant detritus so that the decomposition process heats the pile enough to kill off the worst of the bacteria and viruses. This can take a few weeks or months depending on a lot of factors. “Undercooke” manure is how you get E. coli and listeria outbreaks.

just got finished with all the current stuff and Root (which I may play in the future myself) and I just want to say on the frostbite part that it has lead me on a little internet journey. So apparently most the time treatment wise, you need warm water and all that jazz to treat it and apparently frosbite can recover most the time unless it's super deep and kills the tissue. If the tissue dies after assisting with the damages, it "can" recover unless it's so severe that it might cause infections just by existing like making tetanus easier to get. Frostbite is quite the fascinating injury and I am lookin forward to the series' events.
Taishen is like Spyro(Artstyle) plus Iroh(Humble personality). I feel like Andy inherited a Goblin from Mickey and Ritchie inherited his Spirit Halloween voice. I love everyone's characters!

Can you explain it I genuinely have no idea what they're talking about lol
@@GSBlitzenit’s a sexual joke
@GSBlitzen it's a joke about ejaculation lol
Please explain, I couldn't really hear any of it and I didn't understand what I did hear
Their first campaign I watched was Witchlight and I'm so used to Mace as Gideon that this character is such a startling but lovely change
I am surprised about how much I like this episode. I've never heard of this channel before so I wasn't expecting much but it's friggin awesome. I've already laughed myself damn near to tears. I'm definitely going to keep up with this campaign.
Seen Root, Unrooted and Witchlight and the range you guys have for character acting is so great, this is such a good first ep and I love all your characters so much 🙌💜
All the characters are so interesting and enjoyable to listen to! The character art is fantastic too and I can easily picture this animated.
Oh, I'm really glad they fixed the mic early on in the session. I initially stopped watching because of that, but I'm really interested in a survival DND story!
Im sorry but whenever I hear Andy I just cant stop thinking of "Toooooorbeeeeeek!!!!"
Been wanting to do a more sea or coastal travel focused campaign for ages as a thing to revist with my group and this is giving me quite a few ideas in that vein and I'm so pumped to catch up on this
Dont think you cant hide "Chrono Cross -- Time's Scar" from me when they're rolling initiative.... love this so much
So i just binged witchlight and now on to icebound. Yall brighten my days at work
This channel, "legends of Avantris" has kept me grounded on the earth in a good way, i dont feel like my head is floaty, "anxiety"
Just finished watching once upon a witchlight and catching up before the hiatus. I'm so excited to continue
Finally, I've caught up to current and watched every episode of icebound! Now i can look throught the playlists.... oh... oh god... so many hours of incerdible laughs and stories and heart-felt moments and amazing characters. I'll be watching forever. Cant wait for more icebound, I'm on the edge of my seat!! yall are the best.
the spider thing is true. ive seen one of those nasty things. huge Brazilian wandering spider. very dangerous.
Queenie sounds like she ain't in Kansas no more
i just want to say i absolutely adore Queenie she is so funny
Only episode I've seen but I could see this making a very good novel or maybe even a show. Well done
Just found you guys after trying like 4,000 episode 1s that all started with 30-45mins of announcements. Thank you for getting straight to it ❤
Wow, this was intense. I love sessions with a mystery/horror vibe and this has made my day :)
Remember when shit starts getting weird immediately start using a buddy system. Never be alone
having just started this series today, id like to point out that human flesh does poorly in most composts due to the bioaccumulation and bacteria that would be found in frostbitten human flesh.
25 minutes in and I quickly understand the short of Jornir's "scarlet rage", it's a miracle he's not saying it already XD
I say that fondly lol
When Barnabos was asking for his shell, I was actually imagining him as a giant hermit crab-man demanding his home back from the guards, lmao
as soon as i saw this one yt short on one of these videos I knew I had to start binge watching the whole series now im watching once upon a witchlight and I cant wait for more of this
I found y’all through Instagram, and I absolutely love how your group fits together so well. And you have an amazing DM aswell :)
SUCH kind words. Thank you so much!
just got finished with all the current stuff and Root (which I may play in the future myself) and I just want to say on the frostbite part that it has lead me on a little internet journey.
Bananas are bad luck because of the gas they emit, it makes other fruit spoil faster
It is such a testament to yalls acting that I’m home alone and getting such wicked heeby-jeebies
Taishen is like Spyro(Artstyle) plus Iroh(Humble personality).
I feel like Andy inherited a Goblin from Mickey and Ritchie inherited his Spirit Halloween voice. I love everyone's characters!
Wow. I am absolutely hooked. I never actually watched 5 Hours of DnD actively. Usually it just runs in the Background when I work but the tension in this one kept me transfixed. Can't wait to see this campaign to the end.
as someone who has watched the whole dang series its reallll weird seeing how everyone played their characters in the beginning.
Absolutely wonderful, glad i stumbled onto yall
We're glad you found us!! We hope you enjoy our shenanigans!
1:44 this is my first time seeing Andy with short hair and I'm....it's not bad but he looks like a young college freshman versus how he usually looks which is more,,, rugged? he cute tho
I love the trauma that the Crows Nest has caused Skrimm
"Ellis Cooms-"
"Ew..."
"....."
"FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK????"
Not sure how I got recommended your shorts but had to watch some long form, well done you guys are hilarious!
I love both Queenie being the sweet and innocent southern gal, most times, and Skrimm being just like Booker that the moment someone says something to derail his fun and enjoyment he has the same, "I'm sorry, what?" reaction most people would have to that kind of information. Andy and Nikkie have some of the best character moments.
Just caught up on Witchlight and am excited to watch these other campaigns! Love these characters already
Only a few minutes in and I am loving the vibes here, excited to follow the story to its end
