that last two jumps BB, this is why I am a subscriber hahahaha.
That bridge is crying out for a gatehouse at the entrance.
i didnt even start the episode and i believe you😂
And a bridge troll...
That. That right there. That's a bridge.
it's actually a viaduct.... :P
That bridge made out of stone plus the snow remind me so much of Skyrim, specifically the College Of Winterhold
I was so psyched for this episode! Didn’t disappoint. Excited to see the base too
That's a fabulous bridge, you should give it a name. Amazing amount of work, well done!
BroadBridge
Bridge of the mighty karmoth....would sound brillant 🤣🤣👍
This has been the best episode EVER! Thank you for your perseverance and humor. Every time you say “This is So Sick!” I have to grin along with you, has restored my fun in the game.
I came to think of a drinking game whenever he said that but it seemed a little too dangerous. ;-)
I love that you show the learning process, thank you.
Also your truthfulness regarding the update is so appreciated. I am also happy with it especially how it has massively improved FPS on large builds.
Makes a stone bridge in place of a stone island due to stone being the issue.
😂 not to mention the 200+ iron,
Dope build though 👍
makes a comment that like 100 people already made in the last video...
Fuling: Heh heh heh. Look at my bridge.
Broadbent: That's not a bridge. This is a bridge...
You need to put some tamed Troll's under the bridge to collect the fee for crossing.
Love your comment!
Even Odin was impressed with your bridge.
Is it me or does Odin only show up when you have been using dev commands?
@@sowhat1073 Nope, He's definitely shown himself lots of times when neither me nor any of my friends had used devcommands in the same game session. I don't know if there's a pattern, but if there is, I haven't found it yet.
@@magiv4205 Maybe it's when he thinks you are doing well or impressed with my Z command lol.
Odin brings warriors here to prove their worth thru battle and earn a ticket to Valhalla, then he sees his warriors building entire bridges and castles by themselves in a matter of weeks... there are none more worthy.
@@magiv4205 he starts showing up only after you have killed the elder, after that every time some major event happens he will check up on you again. i spotted him after i killed the ender and bonemass and also in-between after i just finished defending my base from the story driven mob sieges.
Visited your channel 10 mins ago wondering where you were, it's been two days, where is broadbent?? Only to go to my home screen and see a brand new video.
God bless u
Do you think he knows that we get withdrawal symptoms?
Wednesday is his no vid day I think, hence the wait was longer and even harder...
@@Brambo117 we do stan the effort he puts in for us 👏
every five height, do a cross beam connecting the two iron beams. and your stability would have been just fine. Also, as to the stability of the railings, you could have just placed iron walking beams from the edges, sink them into the stone flooring, and cross the entire bridge just fine.
by five height, that means using the half wall as a measure btw. so five half walls height, do a cross beam with the iron, and you would have been fine. Then when you wanted to do the top flooring, you would do a half step up with the iron, then do a square, and brace with x iron beams, and you would have been so much less stressed. But you have a tower to build now, and I hope the five steps up iron beam helps you a lot more. Also, bury your iron beams in the pillars, to start your corners in the towers, and run a ring of beams around the walls, using the "five" rule, and you can build at any height.
That's what I was thinking also
Would have been easier. But now he might know it for next time
Great build, and great episode as always. Good on you for hanging in there until it was finished. You must have been pretty tired at the end, but I’m sure it was rewarding to see the final result!
Oh btw - I lol’d HARD at the 1 hp instakill😂
Oh. My. Gosh. You are crazy, absolutely crazy! I can't believe you built that in survival. It looks so good, seriously. You need to light it up though, how cool would it be with torches or lanterns at night, in the snow, with the bridge, ugh! Also, if you want to, you can maybe put a roof on the bridge? Because I'm totally getting Harry Potter vibes from this and I can't unsee it. With like, beams and arches and more laterns.
Broadbent: "this is done"
* 1 wall collapses *
after 12 times he said "this is done", the bridge finally gave up destroying itself
Great build. For your cart track. Stone stairs are about the steepest slope you can drag a kart up. Helpful when the pick and slope is not playing nice, I found it to be a quick fix to a troublesome slope places. great work.
Absolutely the BEST Valheim series!!! Love the content....
Agreed!
Yessir
Just thought I would tell you I love this series, and am super glad that valheim brought me to your channel. Super quality content!
9:57 "Where did that land come from?!" This made me lol more than it should've. But also that is a phenomenal bridge!
Survival on the edge (literally) building. Much respect. 😎👍
advantage to building in mountain is that you don't get the "raids" that you can get in the other biomes
REALLY?
Actually, now that they mention it, I have a cave base in the mountains and I can’t think of a single time I have been raided there
This is informative tysm!! 🔥
@@oab yep really. unless there is a raid from the mountains biome to worry about, the other biomes do not do raids in the mountains. so guard against the Golems and yer good to go in the Mountains.
This is just awesome, you done a great job with this bridge and I can't find anything you could have done better. It's so fun following you and I am looking forward to every episode from you. Almost the highlight of the day in the Valheim world
You did it, man! After all that, definitely time for a building break, exploration video, before getting back to the mountain base. 👍🏻 I love the idea of a roof somehow & lighting for the bridge. However, not sure if it’s possible, since you had trouble just stabilizing to that height, as it is. If you can manage it, though, might be something to think about. Doesn’t need to even be wood, breaking the aesthetic. As another person mentioned, flat stone floors count as roofs when used as such. Imagining that, all lit up at night, is so gorgeous in my mind. But, it’s also good as is, if ya don’t wanna mess with the bridge anymore, now that it’s finally stable.
The last death killed me xD
Imo the last built section of the bridge should look like the rest of the bridge(open).
But holy beard that's a hell of a bridge, dude! Love it
Broadbent: “Now we know how to do this”
Also broadbent: “how do I do this…”
ask dr.Weknowdis
Hell yaa
lol take a shot every time he says "...and now it's done." 😂
Have a ramp up from the start and staircase up your fortress in the sky + arch at the front, mid and end of the bridge, that will make it a grand look over it.
8:44 Broadbent becoming a salty weathered valheimian lol. It was nice a while back when it felt like we were swimming in iron huh. Now 6 stones is so precious :)
27:00 this reminds me of that meme with the sheep in the ditch that gets freed and immediately jumps back in head first 🤣🤣
I just saw that again recently. 🤣😂
I’m currently building a wooden bridge that is slightly higher and about four times as long. My plan is to be able to use the river under the bridge to travel as it cuts the whole way through the island.
I don't think ground raising was cheating at all. Quick and dirty fix. I was thinking about building a large bridge myself and wondered if ground raising would help things... then you did it :)
Every terraforming vid I watched showed the super "pre-update" method. I couldn't figure out why it didn't work, then you mentioned the update killed it. Good to know that I'm not entirely insane.
Can't wait for the epic house at that mountain but you surely need a break after that, looking forward for the next boss battle. But well it will look better if the bridge is totally complete together with the entrance.
Adding iron beams off the armored section off the main supporting iron beams. You could add an iron beam railing and hide it with the stone. So not only the beams that needed the reinforcement- but the whole bridge could be in "Armored Concrete". Perhaps some arches bellow in a two side pillars, arch bridging the gap, and another small section atop. That way you have some maintenance corridors
Not sure if its a viable plan though. It would require a boat load of iron, and with the arch/maintenance corridor idea could hinder the stability. Perhaps play with it in creative mode- and test it out?
Ooooh, I've been Waiting for this episode!!!
Are you 50 like stop!
@@coltonwayne81 lmao 🤣
use iron gates as rebar. works a treat. hide them same way to did with the ironwood poles
also 6:50 when you nearly forget you are in survival and cannot creative fly
Fun fact: You can get even more stability out of steel beams if you put them _inside_ the stone wall pieces, kinda like reinforced concrete, instead of snapping them at the outsides of wall pieces.
It's more expensive steel-wise as you can't share the same steel beam between two wall pieces horizontally, but grants much more stability to build vertically than just snapping the steel beams on the outside of the stone walls.
Ok so now the ultimate challenge is to build a castle on top of the other mountain. My god that would amazing. Btw, the bridge is just amazing! 😍
A-ma-zing! Incredible build. I love building, but I'd never have the patience to do this xD. I nearly had a coughing fit when you died the second time XD
You could have run iron beams horizontally within your bridge path flooring stones all the way across. Would have helped sturdy things up.
That is one hell of a bridge! I like it.
As to potential saltiness -- it's entirely possible to be disappointed when one's grand plans have been foiled AND to think the devs did the right thing for the health of the game, long-term. I'm not sure whether people going on about that have never consciously experienced mixed feelings, but if so, they're not very observant.
Holy shit. That kinda impressive. The only thing i wish you would do is add one more pillar on the right side instead of having the big block. Still nice bridge. Pewdiepie would be scared
18:00 I think Odin pops up as a sort of objective indicator. I started to run straight through him when I see him, and it always leads me to something I need
When you fall down a ledge, before touching the ground (and die) - walk into the wall/ledge/terrian and press jump. That will cancel all potential falling damage received up to that point. Might save you a few deaths in the future. :)
Awesome build but I think you should add a pillar on the right. There will still be enough of the box to give that chunk feel. Unless you wanna throw a door on it
man this bridge looks glorious...
Wow. Impressed with the bridge, and the manner in which it was made. Well done.
Another suggestion I would make is next time leave the trees and use them as foundation build points. If you kept the trees you could have used them to help secure your foundations
Ohhh
@@oab
😂 I was watching your first bridge video thinking to myself “I hope he doesn’t cut down the tr....” “oh.”
Lol
Very entertaining videos though my friend. I want to build up the courage to make my own some day.
For stone, why not go mine out that nearby copper? You'll need the copper for sconces and things in your new base anyway, and you'll get a lot of stone in the process.
Also, experimenting with using iron gates wouldnt hurt, and you only really need them for the middle one or two bridge supports. Easy method for what youre doing is- you have two 4x2s end to end at the bottom as the foundation for the bridge supports- remove one of them. Place a line of 4 1x1's to replace the 4x2 you removed. Then remove the other 4x2. Replace it with 4 more 1x1s' . Then remove the middle 2 1x1s. Use shift to place an iron gate in the middle of that gap, both from a front to back and side to side point of view. So like [[]]----[[]] Replace the 1x1 on one side of the gap, remove the remaining 3 on the other side, replace your 4x2 so its touching the remaining 4 1x1's and thus engulfing half the iron gate, then remove the 1x1's and replace the other 4x2. Done, iron-gate supported stone. Just clip a new iron gate on top of the existing one before adding each new layer of stone. If you do that only on the two center pillars it will limit the extra iron cost to something more or less manageable.
Sweet looking bridge, I'm glad you got it to work with all stone it looks great! I'm getting Castlevania vibes with the long supports. Can't wait to see how the base turns out!
Oh man i wish you could put some lightening on that bad boy . Some coal chandeliers would look sick
Broadbent: i am never doing this again.
Also Broadbent: im going to creative and build this fucker double !
Best bridge ive seen so far man !
Really looking forward to your base on top tho, i just finished my 4 story tower with 3 stone floors.
Inspired by the mage tower in WoD WoW.
You need a sign at the top of the bridge that says you have to have at least 100 health before you jump off
What a majestic looking bridge :o great work.
That being said, I'd raise the ground from the spot you are standing at in 28:15 since it already has a natural incline. Depending on the looks from the side, I'd suggest you either encase it in stone or not. Would look more natural with some slow climb rather than a steep one, and transporting goods with a cart would be easier.
Just my suggestion though ;)
broadbent : and the bridge is finally done!

The bridge looks great ! Good job...Add some lights and decor....dude....awesome !
stone flooring counts as a rooftop as well
The right hand side of the bridge needs 1 more arch. Otherwise glorious structure. Can't wait to see how its made functional.
looks awesome, you're so determined! congratulations on the 98% completion haha
fair warning though: I have made a road to carry carts from shore to meadows (so, not as aggressively steep as the mountains) and I even tested the road with an empty cart, it worked fine, but when I had a full cart (Iron bars) it didn't work, because the weight makes it impossible to walk over the smallest of hills, so, take this into consideration when you start your road
make the cart as heavy as you can when you test it out, maybe try it on creative, because I kid you not, I spent at least 1 hour building the road, 1 extra hour trying to fix it, but ultimately I gave up and carried the bars in multiple trips on my backpack until the cart was light enough to carry the rest of the way using the road. it was a NIGHTMARE. I wish you good look
So much cooler than the island. Choice af location in the middle of all those biomes too!!!!
You've inspired me to spend more time building. So sick
I always wait for these, keep it ep!
Dude I just want to say you are an inspiration. I REALLY enjoy watching you pure and simple no cheats and just going for it. Please keep it up!
Looks good.
A small village next to the bridge with a little road that makes a circle over the bridge and through the village would be cool.
The 1hp death was funny after that jump!

Wow! That's one bad ass bridge! Great work! Can't wait to see the fully finished update.
Odin looks like a stalker.... i find him everywhere...😂 great Building, Mate. Greetings
Great build and series. I think one the thing you could maybe have done was to explain a bit the stability with the reinforced iron bars just so people would know and understand. Regardless it was an epic great build.
This was so satisfying to watch. Congrats on the bridge!
Man, I have spent my weekend just binge watching this series! By far the most satisfying series on RUclips, great work man! Thanks for sharing.
The bridge looks so sick! I can't wait to see it finished and also can't wait to see the base you make at the top of the mountain, it's going to all look so sick!!!
To be fair I'd do that thing called "use legs to walk down one side and walk up other".
I like Practical Builds (my place is like it is because of functional need with only a little style, and it isn't boring by any means. Shame the server ended so all my stuff is gone), not build for build sake.
PEOPLE, DO NOT BURN OUT BY PLAYING WHEN THERE IS NOT REALLY A HUGE AMOUNT TO DO, WAIT FOR THE GAME TO GET MORE COMPLETE AND GO ELSEWHERE. Only because I can see the game killing itself to a degree (dependent on all the different types of player) by spending a lot of time in a game just to build to keep the interest going when it will be a few years before the overall game is set and finished.
I love it! As far as the update, I really feel like they shouldve kept the ability to raise land to match where you're aiming, but made it cost the equivalent stone to raise it to said height.
I'm crazy afraid of heights... It's weird, I get it, specially because I am a grown man, and I'm getting the shakes watching a videogame character bouncing around the edge of the world... LoL So, you have no idea how crazy it's been watching this build, but yet, I can't stop watching it... Incredible work indeed.
Rot the tallest supprt use the iron gates instead of the Iron Beams for supports. Not sure, how they embed, but if they do, they stack waay higher than iron beams. Should allow you for a stone bannister at the highest point : )
That's a LOT of freaking rocks to gather!
That was an emotional rollercoaster of stability. Good work, bridge looking good!
Bro tell me about it. Was glad to finish it
@@oab - I think the bridge is great, although I have to say I was a little confused on one point ::
You said "Hey they changed the rules about creating terrain, so it's too expensive I would need a lot of stone, so I'm abandoning my base and building somewhere else " .... You then proceeded to make a new base starting with a ridiculously stone expensive bridge, which as a side expense, ALSO cost a really large amount of additional Iron ... so you didn't really save yourself the stone expense, but did in fact also add an excessive amount of iron cost.
Now, I'm not saying it isn't cool, I like your bridge, but, you didn't really save anything, you could have just made more island sections with all the stone you poured into that bridge design. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't make other bases, honestly, the more places you make bases and build the more fun and longer your game world continues to be fun, once you run out of things to do the world loses it enjoyment. But why not just keep the old base, AND make new bases, use the Islands as a central location and grow out from there to other bases, Island base can me like your central hub / crossroads kinda deal.
(Yes people, I know his videos were from a year ago, doesn't mean my points aren't still potentially valid or useful - maybe he still has this world?)
Every 3 stones up, add iron pole cross members, 1 each way, it will add extra stability
There is a great mod you can get the chains all work benches together if they are built in the range of another one, really helps with building stuff that needs metal or stone so you don't have to keep moving the forge or stone cutter about. But this does look pretty impressive.
I remember I was the 300th subscriber to your channel back when you were still streaming The Forest. Proud of your achievements and in game projects. Keep 'em lighting up!
Pushing building limits, proving to the dev's it can be done , thank you BB for inspiring many of us to do the same now
on the side that you said you were going to build a base build it out as the main part of a castle and on the other side where the connection is currently incomplete build the rest of a castle. so the lords keep on the steep mountain peak containing a treasury trophy room and such and on the other side build all the production stuff and portal room. then you could put a gatehouse on either side of the bridge and make it look really cool
Hi m8, keep in mind that: building on high mountain peak bring an almost constant fog in your home.
That happen in my big castle and there's no fix for it!
26:57🤣 how many times this has happened to me I just can't count. Died once after dieing by jumping off of my tiny wall at 25 HP🤣
Awesome job man. I built a stone "look out" tower to hide my boar breeder in and died constantly trying to build it... But I refused to use scaffolding 😂
iron doors work great for bigger windows to keep those deadly mosquitos when building on the plains.. i like big windows.. and these open so i can shoot out them.
On the island this wasn't much of an issue, but on land I would not build any stone structure straight up. If mobs spawn below and start hacking on it, they destroy the bottom piece and everything above it falls down, whereas if you'd have built it staggered, it wouldn't collapse.
Couldn’t he just build some work benches around below + secure the bottom area by building fortifications to keep the ones out that may spawn outside the workbench radius?
When the bridge about to be done my eyes looked at the workplace that caught on fire until disappearing like a phantom
Hell to the yes! It has been an INCREDIBLY shitty day for me. I'm so glad to have something positive to take my mind off of the bullshit for a bit. Thanks my friend. I can't wait for more content from ya. It's always entertaining.
I'm in awe at the size of this bridge
Iron gates are better than pillars of iron beams by about 10 % for building height, at ~33 high instead of 30 high, they cost about twice as much iron though, 2 iron for the 2 poles vs 4 for 1 gate of the same height
Whaaaat!
How can you hate the crypts?!
They are awesome looking!
I sooo wish we could make black stone structures, like some evil demon/undead castle!
Thanks for learning how to build this monstrosity. Your efforts have given me a blueprint to emulate this in my own world.
26:55 imagine that. That is like half my deaths right there.
Awesome job! it would be sweet if you could dig out that mountain and have a secret entrance to your base at the bottom
WOW!! That was a serious undertaking. Great job and I really appreciate the leg work you put into this. Keep up the great videos. Also Don't take the crap from the haters.
I think you could have potentially run an iron beam line through the centre floor tile row. If they were connected to the land either side it would have done the trick i think!
P.s - keep the content coming: you know you’re doing a great job when your subscribers are just as excited to watch you, as they are to play it.
Cheers!
I just want you to know I love your channel and you are my go-to video for when I'm eating which is a huge honor lol. Don't stop making these videos! :D
24:22 Oooo a tingly feeling. Yeeyeee
that bridge looks sick bro...BTW if you would of simply raised the terrain for the middle 3 pillars so they werent so high or placed as much load on the lower stone blocks you would of increased overall stabilty and not had to use as much iron. The other work around would of been to stagger the blocks like bricks so the block above;s weight is dispersed on two blocks and not one.
