Yet another brilliant video, really enjoyed that. It looked bleak weatherwise for you. In my race I did the road bit in the dark and it was really quiet. I enjoyed the dog-leg as it was just getting light and it is a great neck of the woods to see dawn in. My memory is shocking but I don't recall a virtual CP back then. Absolutely love everything about these videos. First class 👍👍👍

Not far to go now ! Not to most captivating leg of the Lakeland100. Did well in that weather. In bad weather I like that route from keswick up towards Latrigg, Cumbria way (right fork😀) over to the Blencathra centre and back into Keswick. Btw. Just love the word overlays that correct what you are saying “I didn’t”.

p.s. I know the idea of an ultra is to carry as little weight as possible but they were giving away Smartwool socks at the Blencathra centre CP. and although I was born in Cumbria, I've lived in Yorkshire long enough to adopt the "owt for nowt" philosophy!
Great socks they were too 😁

Morning John, historically the unmanned checkpoint used to be a simple marker, often a flag with a 'dibber' which you'd dib into to ensure you'd followed the full route, as of last year we weren't required to carry a 'dibber' and the checkpoints, including the unmanned ones registered you as you went past / through them automatically. Great video as always and like you, those first initial miles are the worst on the whole 105 but the rest of the route more than makes up for them , keep up the great content John, all the very best

Nice one. Some awesome cheesy flapjack at the Blencathra CP if you make it there.

You really weren't loving the first half of this run, John 😂
Good to see you working through all these recce runs, even on sections you're not so keen on.

I'm really glad i found your channel, mate. Brilliant and inspiring videos. I'm doing the LL50 this year and planning some route recces soon. How do you get back to your car after the recce? Are you running back as well?

Nice one man glad you’re liking the channel. I’ve not done any LL100 recce vids in a while I stopped short one leg before the 50 mile mark. I’ll probably finish the first half later in the year but I’m focusing on fell racing this year. Yes to get back to the car I was running back as well. I’d film one way, put the camera away and push it out on the return leg. They were long days 😂 good luck for the LL50 🤘🏻
