    I’m so glad I don’t bother with apps anymore. I don’t miss it one iota. The amount of negative experiences and stories far outweigh the good ones and that’s not a good indictment on our community to be honest. It should have never got to this!

    • @KevenTalks
      @KevenTalks  4 года назад +4

      Yeah, I guess that's true. But it's hard to meet gay guys in real life in my experience. There's bars but that's not the best place, either.

    • @nelsondesousa9304
      @nelsondesousa9304 4 года назад +3

      KevenTalks how many guys have you met via an app that a) you managed to get a date with and b) that ended up being something more? Have you compared that to real life? I do take your point on board too - neither is easy!

    • @KevenTalks
      @KevenTalks  4 года назад +3

      @@nelsondesousa9304 Very few indeed. But a boy can dream 😅 I will say that while traveling, it's been way easier to meet guys in person from apps. I think in the U.S. for whatever reason guys are less proactive.

    • @nelsondesousa9304
      @nelsondesousa9304 4 года назад +1

      KevenTalks and how does that compare to ‘real life’ for you? It just boggles my mind! The apps are just plain unhealthy and do nothing to improve our already fragmented and often divisive community.

    • @nelsondesousa9304
      @nelsondesousa9304 4 года назад +1

      KevenTalks yep, the guys in the U.S are far less proactive compared to other countries. I’ve been there 3 times now and I’ve never managed to meet anyone off an app. It’s not quite as bad here in Australia but it’s not that much better either. You are more likely to meet guys in person from more collective cultures that value social interaction a lot higher. For example, parts of Europe, Middle East, Asia or South America.

    It's good to know about the Rose's icon thing. I think before when craigslist was a hookup site prostitutes would say pay me in 200 roses, rather than a dollars because that way they couldn't get in trouble as far as I know. I think that's where the Rose's thing started

    Never had that issue on a hook up app. I do have a story years ago about something that happened one night that I went out on NYE. Hit up one of the local bars and met a guy in town from New York. He had flew into San Antonio and him and his friends decided to travel to Houston for the holiday. So we were hanging out doing a little dancing/grinding on each other for about 45 mins to an hour. After a while he asked me to take him back to his hotel. I agreed. We get there and start messing around and every few mins he would get up and go to his suitcase, get a little container, put something on this pinky finger nail and snort it. Then lick his fingernail, comeback to bed and we'd start messing around again. That happened a few times. We'd kiss he go to his suitcase, then come back and we'd start kissing again, then he'd drink something like Gatorade and we'd go back to kissing. After a while we both fell asleep and woke up at about 10 AM or so and I left to go home. Now I know what cocaine tastes like and I would not recommend it. That shits nasty. That's my only PNP story.

      Eww he didn't even ask if that was ok with you? What a jerk. Doesn't it just totally numb your mouth?

    • @BayouCityFilmNews
      @BayouCityFilmNews 3 года назад

      @@KevenTalks I actually don't remember my mouth feeling numb during or afterwards. It was just horrible tasting stuff. I had to wash the taste out with water then get back to what I was really there for. All of that stopping and starting was becoming a mood killer.

    these apps are a complete joke. or, i should say, the behavior it brings out. i have actually met a few people that were somewhat decent. but, the same repetitive nonsense over and over. does anyone actually want to get off their phone and actually meet in person or are we just passively having the experience by just chatting and swapping pics and fantasizing about meeting that perfect person? i just don’t get it. chat, swap pics, tell each other how good looking or hot they are...beyond that, good luck. it really takes two that want to actually meet in the real world.
    i’ve been very tempted to do my own video on all this. and, yes, so many red flags you can get from just simple information that was or wasn’t filled out on the profile. i, too, skip over guys that filled everything out except relationship status. that one is so telling. if you were single why not fill that out? ay yi yi.
    i know this isn’t a popular opinion but i really think social media/dating apps bring more of the worst out in us.

    • @KevenTalks
      @KevenTalks  3 года назад +1

      It's kind of like gambling, right? Every once in a blue moon, you feel that high from actually meeting someone cool from an app, and then 99% of the time you return to these apps to chase that high, but most of it is sifting through trash lol.

    • @joeburton7784

      @@KevenTalks i spend a good deal of time blocking those that i am just not interested in. i’m not doing it to be rude but, rather, to free my grid up for someone that i might like. i spend more time blocking than anything else. i just have the free version so my filters are quite limited. but, i believe there are good people out there. i think grindr has gotten watered down. i think what was created as a hookup app has become just a general who’s who in the particular area you’re in. there ARE guys looking for more than just a hookup. and that’s fine with me.

    • @KevenTalks
      @KevenTalks  3 года назад

      @@joeburton7784 I know a lot of guys do that to free up the grid, but don't you feel that's a little...ruthless? 🥴Like if they annoy me I'll block but otherwise blocking random innocent people...I wonder what subconscious psychological effect that may have on us to do that

    • @joeburton7784
      @joeburton7784 3 года назад

      @@KevenTalks i respect your opinion. i don’t think it’s ruthless. i never used to do it. but, again to free the grid up. and it works both ways. if someone is looking for trans only or under 30 only etc, i am of no use to them so why should they see me and vice versa? i’ve got limited grid space lol! on a personal level, if they were stranded on the side of the road and needed my help, i would help. i’m a totally empathetic and compassionate person. but on these quite personal/intimate specific apps, it’s a bit different. my idea of “block” is different. they really should call it something else.
      i guess it’s similar if you were in a bar and someone was eyeing you or trying to make contact and you were just flat out not interested, you’d possibly move to another section to get away from them. it’s a bit awkward but ya gotta look out for yourself i guess.

    I don't know but I've been seeing a lot of hookup scams too. They use the same pfp which is usually a twink or femboy. Then they say "Hey you're attractive you want to hook up?" You say yes and then they say "Before you do can you sign up for their site so that I knowyou are who you say you are?" Then it asked for your card information and takes your money.
