I've looked all over youtube for a video showing how to refill a tire repair kit and yours is the only one I've seen so far. it's amazing how much money it costs when a tire issue happens.
"Mission Failed: we'll get 'em next time!" earned a like 🤣 super informative video! I'm torn about getting a full spare as well to supplement.
Yes, a full-size spare is a good option and brings peace of mind. Thanks for watching🍍
Thank you great info, I just went ahead and got a spare tire kit, to me it makes more sense. Shame that these manufacturers are cutting cost by removing the most important safety device in cars now a days and piling up more "safety" features that don't really make your car any safer!
My 2016 Ford fusion got a flat today ,I was surprised to find what I alway thought a silly little gadget actually worked!, it got me going again, and to the tire shop. Thanks for the refill info!
Even my Ford fusion from 2015 uses the same kit. It's been sitting empty in my trunk for like 2 years! 😂😂 Thanks for the video.
Good tip on the repair kit. Not like it's gonna help me sitting in my tool box at home!
Great video, helpful!
God bless you! I could not figure how to open the device without your video
Thanks for watching and commenting 🍍
Found this video which shows how to remove the back cover so we can replace the sealant canister. Very helpful!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching 🍍
Thanks so much for this! Your ideas were so spot-on. I immediately went to order a plug kit to carry in the car, and exactly as you suggested, added my oldest pliers and a pair of old gloves to the kit. A reminder for people who use the plugs... The plugs (depending on brand) can harden up a little over time, and they may also be worth replacing every couple of years.
Thanks for the comment good suggestion 🍍
This video is super useful and top-notch production quality! Got a flat on my MachE 2 weeks ago, the sealant kit did the job on the 2nd try, but now I gotta refill it . . .
Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad it helped you out 🍍
Nice!!! Thank you for sharing this. I need to refill my kit. I've used it several times already.
It is very easy as you see from the video thanks for the comment and view🍍
For anyone wondering... The reservoir is 16 ounces. I got a 16 oz bottle of slime at O'Reilly's for about $15.
Great! video.
I helped a friend just today use his inflator/repair system for his 2023 Jeep.
Exactly the same unit that came with my 2019 Mustang Bullitt.
We were able to inflate the tire without the sealant and get to a tire shop before the tire went down again.
The beauty of your video is that you show how to re-use the system if you use the sealant.
I assumed that the whole system sealant and pump were only good for one use.
BTW
I was able to purchase the whole spare tire kit from Ford for under $300.00 including jack.
The whole rig fits perfectly into the tire well under the trunk mat.
Now I have an actual spare tire for my 2019 Bullitt.
May be available for the MachE
Thanks Again
Thanks for watching and the info. I had a 2001 Mustang Bullitt for 13 years and it was a Great Car. 🍍
Super useful for other Ford vehicles with the same kit, including ICE Mustangs.
I just purchased a 2024 Mustang Dark Horse, and it has the same kit. I need to order another plug kit myself. Thanks for watching.🍍
Slime seems a lot more viscous than what spewed out of my kit when I used it, but I'm still going to try it. Thanks for the video.
The OEM stuff did not do the job for me and hopefully the Slime will do the trick or better yet hopefully neither of us will need it in the future. Thanks for watching 🍍
Good video. Is the OEM liquid water soluble? I want to clean the bottle out before I refill it.
Yes, the OEM Ford is water soluble. Thanks for watching. 🍍
Good video on the pump tear-down to get the canister out, but I have some concerns about the product you are showing and its use.
So far the only Slime "2 in 1" sealant I see says to NOT use this on highway passenger vehicles. Are you sure you are using the correct stuff? This product appears to be for bicycle tires and farm equipment tires (e.g.: tractors). The one you show at 3:10 popping up appears to be for highway vehicles but that doesn't appear to be the same one you show in your hand in the video. Am I seeing this wrong? You don't want to be using the non-highway version in a motor vehicle.
I also have concerns about using it as a flat preventer as you suggested. Yes you mentioned you did it on tires on implement items (wheelbarrow, etc.) but I don't think it's even a good idea to mention it here at all in the context of a motor vehicle as it could be misconstrued as OK to do so. The highway product version contains various warnings about it possibly causing vibration, and I would have concerns about its effectiveness if it's in the tires for thousands of miles and heating up and cooling down, etc. over and over when it's meant for a temporary tire fix only.
Also, the tire rotation pattern is that the rears go to the front, but the front go to the rear and get swapped side to side. This means that if the tires also are directional, the front-to-swap-side-rear tires must be dismounted from the rims and swapped. This negates the use of the sealant in those tires in a preventive manner as they will be breached when doing a rotation properly, and will also be a mess for a tire shop to deal with. It will be a waste.
Lastly, the product you linked to is no longer available. Amazon lists a replacement version which is in a pressurized can and you won't be able to even do this procedure.
Yes the genuine Ford product is 3-4x the price (appears to be part number KR3Z-19554-B) but this is tires and safety...not a place to prioritize by price.
The Slime product in my hand in the video is NOT the correct product but the one in the product link and pop up is correct. I have updated the link, and it is now working. I am not promoting putting this sealant in your tires as a preventive like a run flat tire. I was saying I have used it in implement tires for that purpose. This inflation kit is to get you to your destination so you can have the tire repaired properly or replaced. I have used the Ford product on two occasions, and it did not work on either, but the Slime product did work and got me to my destination. It has nothing to do with price it has to do with quality of the sealant and how it fills the hole in the tire. Thank you for watching and your comments.
What brand is that tire mobility kit? I believe I have the same one from Ford...but don't see a manufacturer's name. I noticed that Slime sells the actual replacement cartridges (no need to refill the reservoir bottle).
I have tried the replacement slime cartridge and it is too large for the Ford unit. That is why I had to refill the OEM bottle. The bottle that is in the link is the correct size and type to refill the bottle. Thanks for watching 🍍
So a question from ignorance. What is the slime for and why cant it just use the air like a regular pump?
You can use the unit to just put air in your tires. The sealant is if your tire has a puncture, and it will not hold air. Thanks for watching.
Is the only reason to replace the kit (as Ford recommends) is due to the sealant decaying?
Ford recommends that the sealant be replaced every 4 years or if you have had to use it. Over time I would guess it will deteriorate and not be as effective.
I only have a low tire. Can I still use the compressor just to put air in the tire without using the sealant?
Yes, the unit will work as a compressor. Just make sure the dial is on Air.
@@Pineapple22 Thank you! ☺
What if my kit is full of slime but it’s expired, will that stop the compressor from putting air into my tire?
It will still put air into the tire. It will function as an Air Pump with or without the liquid. There are two positions on the pump one for air and one for air and liquid. Thanks for watching 🍍
@@Pineapple22 mine ain’t pumping any air out, it turns on but no air comes out
There is a check valve in the end so you have to have it connected to a Tire to work. I do not believe that it will just blow like a regular air hose.
when you see it's expired, have a plan B ready. you can still try the kit, but if it doesn't work go for your plan B.
fix a flat or their alternative at walmart is always a good choice.
