Wow. That was a truly dark episode. I like that we got to see how dark the cycle of abuse/pain and violence can get. The farmer chooses to end the cycle while the teenager decides to continue it. Everyone has a breaking point.
"Eat crow" is an actual expression, but yeah it doesn't really make much sense in this context... It's basically another way of saying "Eat some humble pie."
I think this is rather one of the depressing episodes rather then creepy in my opinion. Not only Harold has to deal with his rotten foal brother, but the farmer there has to deal with the loss of his wife. And also his Scarecrow companion killing a little girl. So he committed suicide. In the end, at least our Main character manage to deal with his big brother. In a creepy way with the help of the Scarecrow here. Great job covering this episode. I think there's another Easter egg in this episode/story where the other farmer that Stephen King himself played is shown dead and covered in plant like how his character was in the first Creepshow movie. I could be wrong and that's seen in a different episode . Anyways keep up the great work and take care!
I think maybe the idea behind the cane was that the scarecrow knew it belonged to his creator so whoever has it must be good and not a threat, or just whoever has it must be his creator/master
soooo happy you’re doing more Creepshow!!!! also can’t wait for the updated background to be completed, loving the goosebumps so prominently on display!
This is one of the stories from the Creepshow television series that’s actually an adaptation of a story Joe Lansdale wrote with his daughter for a kids horror anthology collection where writers write stories with their kids. Even the original art design was used to make the Creepshow monster as well.
A bit left field but you should have a look at the Doctor Who episodes Human Nature/Family of Blood. Got some of the creepiest scarecrows I've ever laid eyes on
Oh boy if we're recommending doctor who episodes then I would definitely recommend the clown episode from Sarah Jane adventures, that one creeped me out a lot as a kid, can't remember which season it was or the actual name though
Aww I love how on theme your decorations are in the background!! And ima add that I have and loved Goosebumps Choose Your Own Adventure books the best so I would recommend! ^^
idk if anyone commented this already, but i think the monkey paw in the beginning could be a reference to the short horror story with the same name. it’s pretty interesting/disturbing and definitely recommend giving it a read if you haven’t already!
I know that it's a scary episode but I always found the part funny where the scarecrow peaks through the hole where Harry fell through and is just thinking like *"Are you okay?🥺🥺🥺🥺"* Then seeing slide away just thinking *"Hold on I'mma come down to check on you."*
This episode always struck a chord with me that relates to my childhood. When I was a kid, Chucky terrified me. This was long before Bride and Seed. So he was still scary plus I was a child, don't judge me lol. Anyway, I kept having nightmares about him. Then I heard the phrase "If you can't beat em, join em!" So I took that logic and applied it to Chucky. When falling asleep I would imagine walking up to Chucky and telling him I'd be his friend and help him get Andy(and anyone else who got in the way). I'd reimagine the scene over and over until I fell asleep. After that, I never had nightmares about him again. 😂
You: Werewolves arent loved that much / Me: (realizes the only time i've seen a werewolf on tv outside of goosebumps and them, was Jacob from Twilight)....yeah you got a point... Edit: Oh yeah there's also Eddie from the Munsters
The locations in this episode are great. Old bridge and river, that hella-creepy farm with a built-in cemetery, you gotta give them praise for picking and setting up some great spots.
@kingnusmi I know your busy with the other scarecrow episodes, but if you can could you do any scarecrow episodes from Tales from the Crypt and Darkside (if there are any)?
@ I’m not sure if Tales from the Darkside has one but even if not it’s a fairly obscure series that I think needs more attention (I mean it’s a George A. Romero creation for crying out loud)
Having grown up with a brother that luckily wasn't that abusive, makes the brother in this way fuckin scarier then the scarecrow. Kinda had some flashbacks to my childhood lol
What I personally don't think get enough love are werecats compared to werewolves. In fact, I first and last discovered werecats from the Monster High franchise and nowhere else since. You haven't done Are You Afraid Of The Dark lately, I'd like to recommend The Silver Sight. I just got done watching that one, and it was REALLY quite good. There were at least three twists at the end and one actually really got me, it was unexpected.
someone already referenced human nature/the family of blood for creepy scarecrows, so i wanna mention another fun yet still scary doctor who episode to cover - wild blue yonder from the recent 60th anniversary specials. if youre into really sticky body horror, this ones for you! its not an anthology though, so idk if its in your wheelhouse
I'm pretty sure this episode got me a husband. Long story to follow, I'm so sorry I don't think anyone cares but here it is anyway lol: So I watched this episode when it first came out, and I became very enthralled by the idea of making a companion like the scarecrow. Scarecrows had always had a special place in my heart, and I was so incredibly lonely it was almost unbearable. I decided to make my own scarecrow, unsure of what i would even do with it once I was finished yet continuting anyway. I spayed the heart with my favorite sunflower scented purfume, and sewed it into his torso. After he was built, I named him Cain, and.... I didn't know what to do with him! I didn't need a scarecrow, I needed a companion but T.V. shows aren't real, he wasn't just going to come to life because the scarcrow in the show did. So I kept him in my closet until I could figure out what do do with him. While he was in there, whenever I was troubled, either mentally or emotionally, I would crawl into the closet with him and hold him while I cried. He was made from pillows after all, and my old sleep shirt was very good at absorbing tears. Sometimes I fell asleep in there, using his chest again as I did all those years ago. Fast forward 2 years. I met a good friend, who turned into a best friend, and now we moved in together as a couple. Along with us was my other best friend at the time, who happened to be into the occult, something I never meddled with, but I knew the women I decended from were very good at it. And that I was a very very lonely weirdo lol.
Actually, King, I think the cane is supposed to make the scarecrow submit because it's the cane of his master and former companion. Brenner. The one who committed suicide over guilt that he created the scarecrow that ended the young girl's life.

RIGHT
I was not expecting the amount of f-bombs in this episode. I love cursing too, but it was pretty wild to hear it a ton in a TV show.
soooo happy you’re doing more Creepshow!!!! also can’t wait for the updated background to be completed, loving the goosebumps so prominently on display!
I've probably just become jaded over the years but, the older brother deserves what he got.

I agree with you on how scarecrows are underrated creatures. But this is a great video. I really enjoyed this video, have a great day King
Gotham had incredible Scarecrow costumes

Genie episode please. It's one of my favorite episodes of any anthology and it needs more eyes on it.
