Man I hate referring to him in past-tense, but thank god we got ANY amount of knowledge from this man. If there were a Mt. Rushmore of powerlifting it'd just be Mt. Simmons. RIP Louie, Normal people may give you normal results....but an abnormally amazing person changed the whole sport with his knowledge!
Louis practically held PhD in strength training, and his level of knowledge was truly an individual who dedicated his life to the sport. We'll never have another like him.

Louie was just on a completely different plain of thought and analysis. I never would have been invited to train at West Side...far too average, but I still love learning what I can from him. He'll be missed.
1. If you're stuck in the middle of a bench press, work your triceps through various extensions, standing presses, and also your back. Also do speed work, dumbbell work from different angles, to break through sticking points.
2. Strengthen the adductors and abductors by doing ultra wide squats and sumo deadlifts. Do a lot of sled work through cross steps and side steps
3. Trap bars are okay for building up your legs but not for back development. Trap bars are good for shrugs
4. Younger athletes (8-12) can do GPP through sled pulls and upper body work with the sled, kids can also train their grip by doing rope pulls, push wheelbarrows, Push-ups, chin-ups, abdominal work, mobility work, medball throws etc.
5. Small workouts should focus on weak points and whatever you need. Wenning warmups?
6. Raw and equipped lifters have little difference. Raw lifters could do 6x6, 8x8, 10x10 workouts, deadlift on boxes, train various assistance variations, and doing 5x5 workouts.
7. Increase vertical jump by doing speed squats, max effort work, kettlebell work, box jumps, weighted jumps.
8. Swimmers get a lot of success by doing reverse hypers, isometric glute work, and for the upper body, lat work and triceps. Sled work is also good too.
9. Slow eccentrics for assistance exercises are for building muscle and DOMS.
10. Chuck Vogelpohl worked up to 835 squat with 640 lbs of bands. Sick.
11. Train speed work based on actual maxes, not theoretical maxes
12. It is possible to compete with a torn ACL through strong hammies by doing assistance work and high rep work
13. Sled work also helps runners.
14. When working to a 1RM, work as fast as possible with as minimum amount of volume as possible.
15. Westside Culver City would have 3 heights of box squat and with no gear. Other than thay, same thing
16. Do isometric deadlifts by deadlifting against pins. Stop at the sticking areas.
17. Louie taught his own lessons.
18. Raw lifters can wear equipment for injury prevention
19. Wide box squats and sled pulls develop hip strength.

I wonder what would've happened had he started training mma guys. The way he's applied his methodology to strength I have no doubts he would've created elite mma athletes.

I have a question, I have triceps elbow pain and I used the 100-300 reps resistance band push down with overspeed eccentrics and it works but I don't know how often to do this.. Does Luie recommend daily or every other day? Thanks for the great content 🙏
It depends, roughly 3 times a week can be enough, but for your injury, you may need more and that is okay too. Find what you need.

You would want to run a high volume wave for three weeks, once every few months. The high volume pressing works as a hypertrophy wave.

I know a coach who got a 100m sprinter and a 400m sprinter. Their time is 10.20 and 46.00. THEY DO NOT LIFT WEIGHTS AT ALL. How is this possible?

It's a great overload tool. I rotate raw w/sleeves, raw w/wraps and multi-ply gear and compete in all of them. It's really fun and keeps things fresh
