I am in my first landscaping real Job and I don’t no to estimate when they ask how much, and me not knowing anything on how to give a price, I ended up
Saying, just give me 200$ per day I work. Never knew about measuring and calculating costs

Been watching this guy for about a month now so I'm new to him but I have to say he's very generous with his time and information he gives away. I'm 42 yrs old and had have done just about everything he does and a few things he doesn't, but my point is all the guys I've worked for aren't this open with the information he's providing. Not only that but he's the info he's providing is 1000% correct. He's not steering people in the wrong direction. When I first watched I thought, "eh, he's just doing it for the views", but the more vids I watch I can't help but to think he's just a genuinely good person. And to tell people to contact him if they have any questions or need help, well u can't fake that cause the internet will expose you in a heartbeat. So great job Stanley, I hope youtube is paying you good enough, (I know they're getting paid well seeing as there is a ad every 2 min) you deserve it guy.

Just turning 68 in upcoming April. This brings back great memories believe it or not. Being a custom home builder in Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Mesa & Phoenix for close to 35 years, I was involved with many retaining walls due to many hillside properties. Some were so extremely difficult due to the terrain. After you get over the shock you really start to have fun. That or slit your wrists. (Just a joke -maybe?)
Thank you so much for your program .

Stan, your numbers are very precise. A lot of business owners getting started out don't understand what it takes to run a business. Taxes, fuel, tool and machinery break downs, trucks, employee mess ups, bad customers, storage, and everyday overages that haunt companies. Some people are like your way high other say your way low. A lot depends on where your business growth is. I enjoy these videos so much because you are so real and make perfect sense. Sure wish you were around when I got started. I could talk about this stuff all day. My wife thinks I am being weird watching your video. But Hey, There is two foot of snow outside and i am not doing any work.

The information on job bids is universal and very good advice. I'm a machinist and I am trying to start my own little shop. Most bids are given lump sum in my field cause the customer only cares about the cost per unit but on my end I'll be line itemizing tooling, setup time, machine time, and an extra 10% to cover any scrap parts that may happen. Having that information to produce for a customer may make or break a job in some cases. That information also makes it easier to keep track of the black. When I lose money I'll be able to clearly identify where I lost it and change my rates accordingly in that area.

Ive been starting a company this past year and just am trying to get all the equipment before I start going full out cause I hate renting equipment as I feel I lose alot of jobs cause I have to charge a rental charge for a whole week even if it's only 3 days long. It's a long process but I've just landed a $4000 job and another $1100 job and another $2500 job all in the last week! But I plan on putting all that money towards equipment like mini skids, mini excavator, dump trailer, equipment trailers, etc. Just once I get my own equipment I'll be more competitive with my own equipment I feel like! Please keep this stuff coming! Helps me a ton! I'm out of Minnesota too and that's why I can connect so much!

Great job explaining the bidding process. I took notes. Felt like I was in college again, but this time it will make me money. It is so cool your that busy. One thing you can explain is equipment needed in a quick note that I can pause and copy while watching. Don't explain it just write the equipment on paper and put it close to the camera. That will get all us new bees thinking. The difference between commercial and residential was also good to know. The most important thing you did was giving me real numbers. Numbers that get you jobs. Better go and watch another video

I'm trying to have 2 walls built where my General Home Contractor failed to finish my handicap home. I live in a very rural area, It is extremely difficult to find anyone willing to work for a reasonable amount here... I love your process of outlining "all" the associated costs however... the home owner may appreciate it or they may not. Knowing that you make roughly 1/2 doing commercial jobs then doubling that for ordinary hard working families "because" you can seems a bit greedy. I also believe the home owner may not wish to be "micro" analyzed and informed of EVERY nickel and dime cost, however because of my nature.. I like being completely informed.
Thank you, your honesty and work ethic is reassuring... just wish we had honest businesses in Southern Ohio (OH in General). There is absolutely NO liability here, in West Virginia companies must be licensed and insured.. Ohio only requires a business license(100 dollars or so).. its is very sketchy and risky as a home owner to hire "flunkies" who think they know everything only to ruin it all.
    Ok.. enough, thanks. Great Video...
Ps...would loved to have seen the FINAL product when completed

Customers love us because they only need to call one company we can remodel your home and hardscape and landscape your home as well. I'm having a hard time this year with customers not understanding that things cost money,it's getting really frustrating. Here I am an established company that does phenomenal work and cares about every customer making sure I put everything I am into every job that I do and I'm kind of struggling right now I just don't understand it. Very good point of building proposal into portions I break mine down from site preparation including demolition by square foot and or face feet and additionally the expense of disposal of debris by ton or cubic yard s. An additional line item of Installtion of this example retaining wall by the face foot including labor and materials per face foot broken down to disclose inevent that you have a project that is stopped by the customer a clear delineation of as amount is due for material and services provided are easily and clearly reducing potential losses in a potential and unlikely litigation hope this helps

Loved the video, but I live in an tropical area (Puerto Rico) and I need to build at least a 3-4 foot retaining wall in my back yard and about 10 feet long. The soil is clay like material. What should I use or how should I have it built? I also have an avocado tree that is small, but it would land 2 feet close to the wall should I move it and how far. Thanks for your advice. Sandra

hey thats the best brake down ive seen... now if your jobs are booked and with the deposit down but your date of build is a year or more out! with inflation hits would you change the price of job on your customer...or just work with them based on the amount...

Let me start with, you are awesome! You are willing to help. I have bid on three landscape jobs and did not get them. I priced them according to what I have seen and heard others on youtube do which is double the cost of materials. Well, before I gave the bid, I modified the cost due to how much these jobs were going to cost. I measured and priced accordingly. I watch a lot of videos on RUclips for educational purposes and how-to videos. You really broke this down and it is what us new guys need. Thank you. I don't want to get all religious on your page, but I am praying for help from the good Lord because I do not know what else to do. I have gone as far as to consider charging $15 for a quote on any and all landscaping jobs. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

It is a very good information, question: is french drainage consider?, the pressure that the wall recieve is very massive, if we see the height of the upper plattform is very considerable. other question: a concrete wall will not more suitable?
