- This CCI (Custom Coasters International) wooden coaster stands 100 feet (30.5m) tall with a top speed of 55 mph (88.5 km/h) and is themed around the legendary sword of King Arthur, complete with a castle as the station. Don't forget to try and pull the sword from the stone while you're there.

The best part about Excalibur (aside from a great ride) is the theming. It has its entire dedicated section of the park and you have to walk over the "Camelot Bridge" to get there. There's a dedicated themed gift shop and all of the cars are named after a different member of the Knights of the Round Table (King Arthur is of course the front car). And when you walk up to the coaster you can see and hear it flying through the trees. 10/10. Maybe I'm biased because this is my home park.
When Funtown gets closed for the season and this is the next best thing you could find 😂😂

Layout is very unique.
It's like a double out and back, but unlike other out and backs, this one does it in a cross shape it seems...and hides it all by the trees so you never really see the other path back. Really cool.
Totally agree, I feel like the trees being there and covering up much of the rollercoaster makes it seem faster and more intense than others with similar layouts.
I always thought that too, and in mane it feels like the only thing we have is lobster and trees

Thanks for this video. I never knew about this coaster. The video gave a very good feel for how the ride runs its course. If I ever get up to that area of Maine I will defiantly ride it.

This ride is both incredibly smooth and forceful. The laterals provide some great positive Gs, and the layout is a unique take on a twister.
I love this ride. I remember one specific turn where I got slammed from one side of my seat to the other every time I rode it. I think it was 0:55

I found this to be running extremely well in late July 2023. There was some jackhammering during the third-to-last turn, but otherwise it was running smoothly and forcefully. I got a bunch of rides throughout the train, all after 3PM, and it was riding consistently well/as expected in different seats. It's the only trip I've made this year.

Me too when I first went on it I was 8 or 9 or something and about the tenth time I could do it and keep one look on my face the whole time (we had season passes that’s why I rode it ten times lol)
Me to I live like an hour away from it and when I first when I'm it I was scared then after I was done it wasn't even as thrilling the tornado is worse

Agreed. And the history of this coaster is amazing. It sat in a storage warehouse in canada for decades and the park bought it and refinished it.

I love this ride- it's a great ole wooden coaster with some pretty sharp turns that knock you around a bit. I've rode it nearly every year for 20 years. My husband owns a school bus company in Central Maine and we bring multiple summer camps here during the season.
If you're a local our biggest camp (400) typically goes either the first or second Monday in August, so those are the days to avoid if you want to go and avoid having to wait in line! Lol.
The video is great- thanks for posting! Dragon's Decent is another cool ride and you can see to Old Orchard Beach on a clear day! The only time I've ever heard my mother swear was on that ride 😂

This is a good one. If you go in June before school lets out you can ride it over and over again. At least before 2020......
Thank god this thing got the pre-cut retrack, still a bit rough in some spots, but coming from someone with 300+ total coasters, this one’s still a lot of fun!
I came so close to getting to ride this thing last year... Someday.
update: rode it last weekend and I think it's one of the best wooden coasters I've ridden. It's in great shape and they apparently recently put some Gravity Group precut track on the first drop--rides really smooth! The twister layout gives it some strong laterals in the second half.

August 2023, Excalibur is running great! Took my 9 year old on it. His first coaster ride and now he's hooked!

i went on the ride today and there was actually a full stop at 1:47 which is interesting. I had a great time, though! another ride i’d recommend it the sea dragon, it’s basically a giant swinging boat. if you sit on the end you can jump and get more adrenaline (there’s only a lap bar, so be cautious)

This thing hurts in some spots, but it's worth it.
It’s not smooth at ALL. I went on it last year, hated it. Mainly because of the shakiness, but the first drop, is steeper then it looks.
How do they maintain a structure of that size made of exposed wood??

I just rode Excalibur and Ghostrider @ Knotts this month. Despite Ghostride placing 9th on Golden Ticket's wood coasters, I preferred Excalibur. Ghostrider has constant headchoppers and good lats, but the airtime was a bit weak and the ride's low capacity makes the long line such a chore. Whereas Excalibur has a bit of everything, a lovely wooded setting, and there's strong airtime on the drops and especially the speed hill section from 1:04-1:11.
This has to be one of the roughest coasters I have ever rode!

That’s weird. Last time I was at Funtown Splashtown, the train on Excalibur was a little slow, but now, it’s a lot faster.

Went on that ride like 6 times and after headed home with a heat stroke oof😅
Went on this today and me and other people on the ride felt it lift off the track around one of the corners and my husband (who was off the ride) witnessed excessive shaking on one of the sections. I let one of operators know. This ride is NOT safe!

Would not recommend this ride if you have a fragile body it's rough as hell and is cable of damage to your body if swung right in the back you will feel it the next day from how rough it is
