All the charts are in the Handbook for Reading. I started out using the seperate charts and eventually just used the charts in the handbook. Never used the games, they are more motivational than anything. Had three kids never used the games. May be fun but certainly not necessary. I only used the basic phonics flash cards with one child who needed alot of extra practice. They're not necessary. I have written extra words on a mini white board for two of my kids. Also drew blend ladders on a mini whiteboard, the printed ladders were just too big. I loved the blend flashcards though.
I so appreciate your style and thoroughness! I sincerely pray you make more videos for Abeka Grade 1 and upward....Just starting Parent Led Grade 1 and I'm lost but your videos are really helping me gain my footing in this journey! Thank you & God Bless!
Thank you for this video! I'm glad a stumbled on it. Right now I'm using Christian Light Education and Evan Moor Top Student. They are working great, but I'm always searching for new ideas. I love the giant size of the cards. Do you think this is too easy for summer before Kindergarten or in Kindergarten ( early 5 years old). I don't think I want to teach too much reading at 4 years old.
Thanks so much for this video! 💜I purchased almost all the material described. How do you stick the small character figures ( 🐭🐶1️⃣) on the big charts?
I'm so glad it helped! I laminated my charts and the figures, then used sticky tack to stick them on. You can probably use sticky tack without laminating, but the charts hold up forever (or at least ten years, as in my case 😁) if you laminate them.
Hello. I am new to Abeka. I purchased the 1st grade enrollment kit. I didn't realize I needed the parents kit. I thought the enrollment kit came with everything. Now that we are 70 lessons deep. Would it be a waste to purchase the 1st grade visuals or should I go ahead and purchase the second grade visual. Does the 1st grade visual kit carry through second? Or will I also need to purchases both? Thank you for your help.
Hello! It might make your life easier (for the rest of the semester) to have the visuals for first grade. For phonics and math, some of them will be used for the next grade, and possibly all of them. There are different games for second grade, but you can buy the "homeschool games" for that grade for phonics and math separately. I hope this helps. You can also call the Abeka customer service to confirm this (it has been a few years since I taught first and second grade). They are very helpful and kind. Thank you for watching and commenting! :)
Thank you! I have a question. I have a 6 year old and she reads cvc words ok. Her fluency can improve, she needs more practice. But with her long vowels , that’s where it gets confusing. Is this level that you showed good to teach long vowels or does it just teach short vowels? I’d appreciate it thanks.
I have some more questions about the curriculum. Is there a way to get ahold of you to ask questions other than on here in the comment section? I was told to purchase a teacher manual and I'm not sure exactly what I need to buy just for this one topic.
You can email me - my address is in my "about" info. However, I have not homeschooled for two years now, so my information may not be as current. Thank you for the comment!
I’m currently homeschooling 2nd and 3rd with Abeka. I definitely recommend the teacher edition. I usually look on Facebook or eBay for a less expensive option. I don’t use the lesson plan books. They are too cumbersome for how we homeschool. Even though the math is easy to grade for the younger grades, it still offers the story problem wording. However, once you hit 3rd grade, the teacher book is exactly like the student book, and the wording for story problems are not included. I use the teacher editions for fast grading and to clarify what they are going for. This is our 3rd year with Abeka (no videos). I hope this helps. However, you have to homeschool how it works for you. ❤️

Thank you for watching and commenting! :)
This just saved me a ton of money, thank you so very very much
You're very welcome! :) Glad it was a help!
Thank you.. Your videos make me less timid to start using Abeka.
I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you for letting me know! I hope you have a terrific school year! :)
Love this breakdown of “must have” items. Thanks!
Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know! I'm so happy to hear this was a help. :)
Did you purchase the entire parent lesson plan kit ?
This was SUPER helpful! Thank you for taking the time to do this. 🙏

Exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you so much for sharing this insight!
I'm glad it helped! :)
I accidentally bought the games in the classroom size 😆 but it’s actually been fun to have them larger...my son loves them!
A "happy accident!" :)
Greetings from Algeria, i like your creative ideas
Thank you! 😊
Did you ever use all about reading? Just wondering if you have thoughts on this curriculum compared to Abeka. Thanks!!
No, I never have.
Can you do a video explaining grading please
Yes please!! I need that. Especially for 3rd grade.
Lots of great info.. & we're not even Abeka people..
TY so much for sharing.. 🙂💗
Thank you for the comment! :)

I'm sorry - I'm not sure I understand your question. What is too easy? Abeka has a preschool or K4 program, but it takes a school year to complete.

Hi! This level will teach both long and short vowel sounds! I wish you all the best. Thank you for your comment. 😊
Would you be willing to make a written list of the 'must haves'?
Sure! I will try to do that!
@@mrsbashamelementary have you done it yet? Just checking
@@sarahs7253 I started to but then I realized that I listed them on slides in this video. :)
@@mrsbashamelementary thankyou! I didn't expect a reply so quickly!

Are the charts and games sold or come with the book?
The charts and games are sold separately. There is a large version for classrooms and a small version for homeschooling. :)
Thank you for sharing, really helps
You're very welcome! Thank you for the comment!
Do they come laminated or you have to.
I laminated them, but they are made of card stock so they are pretty sturdy to begin with. :)
cant hear ur voice lol
