What about the lawsuits of data extortion? That's all those companies do, like truthfinder. They source data information of everyone then sell it to those with an interest who will pay $ for it which is extortion! It's tech fraud & people should be entitled to a portion of the sales & people should be able to opt out their intellectual & physical property data from these companies extorting it! The companies should be having to contact people before data is sourced or sold for permission first which isn't happening! I shouldn't have to be paying a company like Aura a monthly fee to stop the unlawful extortion of my intellectual & physical property data, public or not public!
Aura quickly wiped some links off of my list of web sites that I've used for years to save money every month on car washes, grocery coupon, etc.. All these were trusted links that never caused any problems. Can't wait for Aura to expire next month! I'll go back to my old Identity Theft service that was better, cheaper and never caused issues like Aura does!
Sorry to hear that. This is a problem with their browser extension? It might be helpful to other viewers if you can share what your preferred Identity Theft service is. Thanks for bringing your perspective - I appreciate it.
@@homesecurityheroes My pleasure. Most people end up buying services but do not know how to manage them properly. I'm no exception. I would get something, set it and forget it. Today, subscriptions/services are so much more dynamic. How would you suggest managing them to get the most of out them on a month-to-month basis? I think that might be a good topic for conversation. Have a blessed day brother!
Great question! Honest answer: it's impossible for me to say. All software companies are integrating AI right now. My question for any company is: will you do what you promise to? If the answer is yes, I'll give them a try. I don't place too much weight on how they achieve a particular result, just that they achieve it somehow. Does that help?
Perhaps I don't understand, but I feel like the value of services like Aura is either not explained or dubious. What am I supposed to do in response to dark web alerts, and equally importantly what do Aura or other services do after identifying that my information is on the dark web? And how does the threat resolution work? What are typical threats and what do services like Aura do in response? To me, while this review is good, it does not adequately explain the service provided in order for me to make a decision regarding its value.
Very good question. Firstly, none of these services are perfect and there are things they won't do. For instance, once your info is on the dark web, it's there. You can't remove it. So what's the value of monitoring it? One example would be if you get a notification about a specific password being leaked - you would then want to change it as a priority. Identity Verification Alerts will let you know if a loan has been taken out in your name. This might be the first notification you get of identity theft. Ideally you catch it here (like I did) and not when you receive a collections letter or notice that your credit score has dropped. Threat resolution will tell you what steps to take in the event of identity theft (freeze your credit!) and they'll do 3 way calls with you and impacted institutions as needed. Hope that gives a few examples of where these services can be helpful.
Unfortunately there is no way to remove it once it's out there😞 What dark web monitoring is designed to do is alert you to particular credentials that have been exposed. For instance, if you found that the password to your main email account had been leaked and published online, you'd want to change that immediately. You can check haveibeenpwned.com to get a sense of which of your credentials may have been leaked in the past.
Brandon, when I decide to click an affiliate link, I do so because I've been enticed by some sort of savings or additional goodies in what ever in buying.
What does the insurance cover? LifeLock states they cover bank account losses. Some others like Experian do not cover bank account losses and only cover fees associated with getting your money back. Does aura have an account reimbursement element to their insurance?
Yes, Aura advertises a cash recovery component: www.aura.com/legal/5m-insurance This is one of the few areas where we (currently) take the companies we review at their word. It's really hard to put their insurance policies to the test in the same way as, say, dark web alerts or VPN performance.
I think that re-selling your information would pose an existential threat to any identity protection company and wouldn't be worth the risk for them to do so. But then again, credit bureaus appear to have been doing so for years so... It's totally reasonable to decide not to turn over your PII to a company if you don't want to.
We are affiliates for Aura along with the other products we review at HSH. Our business model and editorial policy is explained in detail here: www.homesecurityheroes.com/our-testing-process/ and here: www.homesecurityheroes.com/editorial-policy/
I recently gave my social and a picture photo to a fraudulent job application. As soon as I realized it was a scam I got Aura to prevent anything. If this hacker actually tries to use my social security number will Aura stop it?

I clicked on your link (on my phone) and I did a bare Google search on my computer and the pricing is the same across the board. There is no discount when using your link. I'll give your video a like for the content, but I won't be using your link.
Fair - you are entitled to the max discount possible. There was an issue a few weeks ago when they were updating their discounts, I'm guessing you went through our link at the same time. Updated discounts should be working now and will be as good or better than what you get by going direct to Aura's website. Thanks for your thoughtful comment 😀

does this work for Europeans?
Some of it will, not all of it. VPN and antivirus will, as will dark web alerts. Credit Monitoring is country specific and right now Aura is US only.
@@homesecurityheroes I understand, thank you for replying! 💜💜

thanks for the question and and goood answer, I will use your code to get aura
I tried it. Uninstalled it and still have the logos popping up all over the place. No support from AURA.
Wish he'd show a visual more about Aura instead of him talking.
Check this one out, it shows what the new Aura product looks like: ruclips.net/video/azw68JgYDr0/видео.html

What was your old identity theft protection?
Do you mean Aura auto deleted your saved bookmarks?
😅
You could've shared what other identity theft protection you use to help the rest of us🙄
This is my 3rd video of yours, well done! Keep going...
Thanks Peter - I appreciate the support! What topics should I cover next?

Great video! Thanks. But how much of IA is Aura powered by?

This video is really helpful. Is aura available in India?
Technically yes but you won't get credit monitoring. You would get VPN, antivirus, dark web alerts etc.
as soon as i uninstalled it.. it made my computer extremely slow.
Not working outside of US - just saying 🤔
What happens if your name/identity is found on the dark web? Does Aura take care of it for you or do I need to pay more for that service?
Unfortunately there is no way to remove it once it's out there😞

You should see a discount applied greater than what you see on their website. Please let me us know if not.

Does aura have stock and what is the name of the stock
I believe they are a private company still: www.linkedin.com/company/intersections-inc.
They are still a start up and not at IPO stage yet.
Is this service available worldwide?
Not yet, unfortunately :(
