I am sooooo fascinated by Nigerian culture. Growing up, Nigerians were often among the highest achievers and were super smart. I find their churches and weddings particularly unique. It's interesting to see how 2nd generation is usually raised in the states, but is still rooted in deep Nigerian culture. I look forward to looking at more of your channel and learning more! I'd never seen a wedding like this before.
ddya1000 I know they show the poverty and hunger to us but they're is so much more. They do that for Haiti to(me) they are talking about the poverty but they're some better. They show us the bad but never the good. Its like they are discriminating between other cultures.
After viewing so many of your videos I've come to realize that Nigerians have marriage and higher education on lock....thanks for continuing to post about this beautiful, nurturing and culturally rich community!
I am not even done watching but I just have to say I really love your Nigeria vlogs. To me it's the best. I love the African traditions everything. Being from the Caribbean we do jot see a lot of the African traditions. I just love it.
NAIJA 4 life! IM Naija Born!!! IGBO Blood!!! Daddy Is IGBO, Mummy is African American, but mummy is an honorary IGBO she wears the buba, wrapper, gele. She cooks jollof rice, moi moi everything!!!!
Ify! Where do I even start!!!! I loved this video! Every part of it! AHHHHHH! 1. Your guys' house is soooo beautiful. The color of the walls in your room is nice too! 2. Your aunty looked like she was throwing it down in the kitchen! Gotta love naija aunties! 3. Junior is maturing into a nice young gentleman! I love seeing how the three of you relate so well Nne, biko mekwa osiso ka anyi fu part 2!!!! :)
I absolutely adore this #traditional #Nigerian #wedding video blog. This girl is right on point on taping the right moments. She focused on how the food is prepared, how people make entrance in the tents, how the bride kneeled before her groom, how the bridesmaid appeared.
Your not looking hard enough lol. East London we here.fine ones twins for that matter . as an igbo we have to market our self at any given opportunity.looooool
This video is beautiful in every way! made me miss Nigeria so much!, the traditional marriage was stunning! Coming from a family of 4 girls, I'm excited to experience this! Congrats again Nky and thanks a lot for sharing Ify....btw make up and hair was on fleeeeeeek
I'm from Ghana and have been to many Ghanaian traditional engagements but I've yet to attend a Nigerian engagement. I found it very interesting and somewhat similar to the Ghanaian customs In some aspects! I really enjoyed watching this!
Igbos call it traditional wedding!!! There are many stages to it, starting from knocking on the door, to the final stage, called Igbankwu, which Nky just did. Because people now live far away from villages, this other stages may be down in their absence, once the knocking on the door, AKA introduction is done. In ancient Igboland, engagement is done most times when the bride is still a baby or young. For some as early as during their naming ceremony. The family of the young groom will place some cowery in a plate, making their desires know, to the young bride's family. Most times these families know and admire themselves and would like the relationship to get tighter by having their children become one in marriage. They groom the girl for their son. She may visit them from time to time but nothing happens sexually between them till they are married traditionally. Once you complete your Igbo traditional marriage, you are considered fully married! Religious marriages are done to fulfill religious obligations...Christians or moslems. Infact, you can't perform religious marriages unless traditional marriage is done because those religions are imported and new to Africa. So, Igbo marriages are not Engagement ceremonies!!!!!
Girl you look so good, would have added soft curls to your fro just to keep that dreamy look to match your make up. your hair was a big distraction at times, it took away from your gorgeous features.... Moving on... Your wedding day looked top notch!!! I am now going back to my husband and show him the things he missed!!! might get a re- run. Thanks for this. Congratulations to you both!!! Mummy I love the way you speak igbo and the girls and they respond in English, so funny. love this guys!!!
I love attending all things Nigerian lol.. Baby these people know how to party and feed their guest.. I'm from New Orleans and nobody party as hard as we do and our food is to die for, but I must say I will attend anything and all things Nigerians give I don't have to know the person and I always bring a gift lol.. I attended an RCC which is a Nigerian church and I was at everything front and center and the first one to arrive and sometimes the last to leave..
Wow see ezigbo house! I salute your parents o. This igbankwu was just a WOW!! You and Nky killed and slayed and murdered every outfit!!!!! Happy married life Nky. Also, why didn't he drink the wine? I didn't know a trad had different parts lol I know it sounds weird but can you explain the process of the traditional marriage in your part 2 video? hehehe. Sorry for my thesis comment but this vlog made me happy, thanks for sharing.
This girl thats getting married looks so young. Full grown 30+ yr old women in the US have a hard time finding their husbands but in Africa or the African community its plenty plenty bc women know their value. The mindset is so different & thats why I love Africa.
Stop pitting AS against Africans. If it wasn't for the sacrifice of AS ancestors Africans wouldn't have the opportunity to come to America to try have a better life. There are many unmarried African women over 30.
First time on your channel. I'm defintely subbing this video looks like a movie wow. On my ppa teaching day off so I'm definitely going to make a smoothie and come back to watch this now. Chill time❤❤. Love my naijas
+Ultra Violet Igbo is one tribe. Just that depending on where you are from in Igbo land may have an affect on the dialect you speak and some other traditions. But it's all basically the same language. They didn't purposely divide themselves. In fact the different traditions and dialects don't have a negative effect as far as I'm concerned. It's just how things have become.
+Ultra Violet Wow!! I see you girl. But not Anambara. Actually I heard it was Imo state that was the original/ first Igbo dialect. Have you heard of Igbo bongo music? And I don't think they did it to divide themselves it';s just the way things happened. It's not like they are all in the same place...Igbo land consists of more than 3 states...but that's besides the point...they weren't always colonized and before this they still had some differences in the way they speak, food(All the same...just some parts of igbo land have specific and distinct kinds of food/ music which they are more popular/ known for) These are all igbo traditions...just different kinds of it. Ify is from Anambara..the type of Igbo music her parents know will not be popular to the igbos in Imo state.
Ultra Violet Lol yea. Phyno is just one of the many nigerian artists. Theirs Tiwa Savage, Flavour, Bracket, the Mavins group and sooooo much more. Hopefully you marry an Igbo Nigerian. ;) No problem lol
I really like watching your videos especially of you & your sister's weddings. MAAAN, Y'ALL MUST GOT $$$ lol cause Nyk's wedding venue was FIRE!!!! SUPER gorgeous and you favor Janet Jackson lol. I'll be following y'all social sites. Congrats to you both dear.
My fiance is Igbo (from Enugu State). It's interesting to see another Igbo couple having their traditional marriage in Nigeria. Our wedding in US is 3 months away.

why didn't the groom drink the wine given to him by the bride?
good question
+Precious Ibekwe ..he looked a bit suspicious..lmao...he no trust wifey or what?
***** lol...she told him something...anything possible..maybe he doesn't drink? lol
Most people don't drink the wine because they don't know if one of the elders put juju in it while blessing the wine.
