My Son was 101st airborne and was in Mosul as well. We had a family liaison who would call if there was a major action. I got a call one day after the news reported the suicide bomber. She told me there was a loss of life in my son's unit but my son was ok. It was such a peace of mind with just a 5 minute phone call.
