Greatest “rock” keyboardist in history - as great a talent as that genre has ever produced - people will talk about Rick Wakeman as long as there is recorded music - thank you for a lifetime of stunningly beautiful pieces, Maestro - you are indeed one of a kind!
Privileged to have been at DeMont Leicester yesterday eve. A very magical and funny affair as always with Rick. Merry Christmas Mr Wakeman and fellow fans around the world ❤
If this isn’t perfection, I can’t imagine what it would sound like… Wakeman always cracks me up though; for example, his flasher trench coat with the red joggers, Rick’s sense of humor always shows itself!
A true legend. I first listened to this man more than half a century ago; he was a member of The Strawbs then. Shortly afterwards he joined YES, and the rest is history. Live long and prosper, Rick! 🖖
@@rupe53 Probably I only remember them because we tried to reproduce one of their songs with my first band. I was ‘Rick Wakeman‘ on an abysmal Wurlitzer organ. 😬
I've lost too many musicians from my youth (Emerson, Beck, Corea...) and I know more will follow because that's how life works, but for now... this is beautiful. Thanks Rick, do this for as long as you can and as long as it still brings you joy. Rick Wakeman, aged 74. Rock on.
I love the way he grabbed his "music score" off the piano when he was done knowing he never looked at it even once. I was a student at NTU school of music and bumped into some really gifted fellow musicians over my years there. There's no way to explain how or why musical savants are so perfect at their craft except to say they just naturally "get it" and it's part of their soul and they sort of go into a musical trance. It's quite magical to see and hear them perform in their own unique way. ♫♪♪♪♪♫
Just admire Rick Wakeman musical skills from a period of about Fifty years! I ran to the LP Store to purchase Roundabout and Close to the Edge álbuns and then the magistral Six Wives of Henry VIII. Always fantastic!
I will always remember the first time I listened to Yes music. I think it was Going for the one, in 77. I thought "my god, this is exactly the music I was waiting for, exactly the music which expresses what I feel".
Took my two brothers to the Yes Concert in Chicago "77", Going for the 1. They had never heard of Yes, it was a Great Show for days afterwards we didn't fight about anything just talked about that show and how great the musicians were! Just goes to show how great music can bridge all divides! Still listen to them on vinyl!
Became a YES fan from the early YES Album days...saw many different people play in that band, who were just mesmerizng to watch live...Rick was beyond theatrical, musically brilliant , yet blended right into the YES system, flowing robes a plenty. Seeing him at the R n R hall of fame was priceless Rick...funnier than all got out, shocking to many, but gut busting funny...... then to witness this.....Fortunate we are i m o, to have had this much talent to absorb..when you think of all of the "bands"...these people were talented without ever needing to be seen in prog. rock or whatever genre they became famous in....An aside...Rick was a great friend of David Bowie...whom so many of miss, and always will.... they laughed lots when together. Rick played some of Davids creations after his passing, and described the joy of what he had written, his ability to appreciate was such joy....Thank you Rick....that was beautifully done.
You can tell which rock keyboardists truly learned the fundamentals when they were young, and Rick is very much in the top of that class. Roger King and Tony Banks are right up there with him.
I had the privilege to see RW in concert twice, once as a solo touring with his son, and the second time with Yes band. Absolutely amazing! Long live RW!
I think the music god What right on down and blessed this truly magnificent words hard to say that you’re easy to say anyhow I loved it so very much thank you for your talent and you’re just beautiful beautiful musiclove ❤❤❤😊
Fabulous Rick. I get lost in the music like you do, to the point that I’m just looking at my fingers as they play and I simply enjoy what I’m hearing. I’ve been playing piano for 61 years. It takes a fair amount of time to get to that point, but you are there sir…you are there.
Wonderful work by Rick. I still recall holding the „Close to the edge“ LP in my hands in the shop. Not only wine gets better with age - Rick does too. thanks
still got it, such a natural player, without any hype or egging it up. and bringing something yet more out of this amazing music. first saw Yes in 1973
Lindo demais! Que bela combinação de talento músicalidade! Yes e Rick Excelente arranjos! Que raridade. Obrigada! SENSACIONAL!! Parabéns !! RICK JUST RICH THE TOP

He and Emerson changed rock music.
Don't forget his name-"brother" Rick van der Linden !
Keith Emerson the GOAT!!!!!!!
And Keith Emerson

The Six Wives of Henry VIII - 1973
What an album!
Fifty years ago
Wakeman & Emerson two of the very best !😎
His tribute to Emerson is gorgeous. Emerson's ending is a truly sad moment in contemporary music history. 😕
Add Tony Banks for the trifecta - those three defined prog for me for two decades. Each with their own voice, each of those voices dynamic and alive.
Agree and Jon Lord too, sometime they will play together
INDEED!
Rick Wright makes my list
This choked me up it’s so beautiful. Thank you Rick for all of the joy you’ve shared with the world. I have happy tears in my eyes as I listen.

I had complete forgotten about The Strawbs!
Awesome!

Rick is severely talented. The man with the skills.
I have been fortunate to see Rick play live on many occasions & he always surpasses expectation- pure genius
I wish I had as much talent as in his little finger.
Wakeman is still amazing.
Rick does not seem bored playing all the parts to yes!!
Saw this show at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville PA. What a talent! Been a Yes fan for 40+ years.
I will always remember the first time I listened to Yes music. I think it was Going for the one, in 77. I thought "my god, this is exactly the music I was waiting for, exactly the music which expresses what I feel".
Musicians are awesome. They share an amazing gift with us.
Wonderfull music played by a wonderfull musician. Who could ask for more?
Anyone who wanted an encore
@@censorwolf I am certainly one of those 🙂.
Best keyboard player I’ve ever heard, and there are many good ones.
It's Rick through the instrument, as several players... the piano keyboard is his way
Rick Wakeman is a genius. It's as simple as that! He makes this instrument sing with poignancy and joy simultaneously - utter brilliance.
Gracias Victor.
Wakeman nos llevó al Centro de la Tierra. 🤗
"And You and I" is one of my favorite Yes.
With the Right Music, You Either Forget Everything or You Remember Everything.
With the World going mad this stopped me in my tracks .... and I was consumed by the joy of living. Brilliant!
OVER THE VALLEYS AND ENDLESS SEAS !!!!!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Nothing beats the sound of a real piano, especially a concert grand in a hall with great acoustics and a virtuoso performing.
Sounds a little like Debussy in the beginning!
THAT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL!

Tolles Stück. Es berührt mich zutiefst. Viele Passagen und Akkordwechsel erinnern an Jon Lords Pianokompositionen. Well done Rick!!!!

Magnifecent!
Had RW Journey to the Center of the Earth on vinyl, played on plastic Sears turntable. I loved it. It was all I could afford in 76.
Fabulous Rick. I get lost in the music like you do, to the point that I’m just looking at my fingers as they play and I simply enjoy what I’m hearing. I’ve been playing piano for 61 years. It takes a fair amount of time to get to that point, but you are there sir…you are there.
