Checking out the new Heavy Cargo Pack DLC for ATS! What do you think? I now know you have to pull in straight for all of the drops and you can't back them in. Well we tried to do that twice! This is a known problem area with the DLC on the forums.

I don't know if anyone posted this, but I'll say it:
Heavy Cargo trailers are driven in forwards. The truck and trailer need to be between the cones.
The only mistake you were making was turning away right at the very end.
The DLC made it so all the Heavy Haul trailers all you have to do is pull straight in

Hey Jeff, ya gotta pull straight in. once the stinger clears the back cones they'll accept it. I've done that delivery a ton of times. Basically, every heavy haul you run is a pull through.

Al heavy haul trailers will be able to be delivered straight in. No reversing required.
For this particular drop you have to have the nose of the truck right up against the concrete wall and have both trailers pretty much straight. If you swing in wide enough you can drop it without selecting reverse gear at all
Yeah backing a pivot axel trailer is no easy task, so happy to see SCS made all heavy cargo runs forward driving drops. Overhead cam is not really cheating since we can't get out to do a walk around of our truck to check our trailer positioning. You rarely use it Jeff, since you're damn good at them backup drops but don't be afraid to use it if you gotta. lol Any good driver no matter how experienced should not be afraid to do a walk around especially if you have tough blind side drop in tight spaces. I like to watch a good driver trainer Junior Honduras from Prime, Inc. He puts safety first.
The heavy cargo drop offs are the equivalent of the 15 exp drops with a normal trailer. They are easy drops where you pull forwards And leave the trailer, no reversing involved (unless you fuck it up by accident). You were super close to the actual drop point, but then started turning. Better luck next time dude.
Love the video Jeff. Enjoying the new Heavy Cargo Pack myself, it's a nice challenge. Interesting to read people's comments below regarding reversing these things, as I've had some issues with that as well. Hopefully see you on the road in MP sometime.

just a tip, when adjusting mirrors & seat position, all the letters correspond with the keys on your keyboard, so holding A will move the mirror all the way left with ease

Just an FYI, as someone who's done a lot of these jobs, they usually want you to pull in forwards at the end and not reverse.

These multi-pivot point trailers are not reverse friendly. You have to not reverse it as much as you can. Squirrel did a video explaining and showcasing them. Suggest you watch it, Jeff
I wish they would include at least one safety car that follows or leads the truck, like in real life.
I only follow them just i dont fail the job.i wish you could just go on with out them
The heavy haul dlc wants you to just pull straight in, the cone mod you have gets rid of the holographic parking thing which is useful for telling which direction to pull in from. In the job from this video, when you pull in the drive way, just turn right in between the cones and pull straight in, once you are lined up with the cones (trailer and truck) DONT TURN, just keep going straight.

+Evan Abate I did it twice that way, it was edited to prevent an hour long video. Continued to try after the videos outtro with no success. I have read on forums other people have problems at the rail export as well. Really picky drop spot.
Huh, thats really weird. The only thing I can think it might be is that cone mod that you have at the delivery spot.

I used to tow loaded broke down18-wheelers across Texas hill country into San Antonio and Austin. I would be loaded at 120k lbs and over 120 feet long. Pulled it with a '88 Pete with stock Cat and 9 speed. When I'd get into the repair center yard, I'd ask where they want the truck. If the service guy says back it into a spot, I'd toss him the guys and smile knowing he'd be in the spot you were trying to back that rig. So I'm laughing with you, not at you, cuz you demonstrated the complex nature of trying to back 2 pivot points. If there was enough room for my 120' worth of truck to maneuver, I could get close backing the entire thing into a semi close spot. But my 42' long tow truck took 100+ feet in turning circle. Large arc backing was easy. No way you're gonna jack-knife that into a 12' wide parking spot between 2 trailers though.
I drive a truck in real life and this is pretty close to actual driving. Idiots pull out in front you like those crazy AI vehicles do. All of the challenges of tight spaces too. Something they have left out is sometimes when you go to hook up the trailer, trucks have different ride heights. So when you back up the trailer the king pin might be higher than your 5th wheel hence the king pin will slide right over your 5th wheel. This has happened to me on occasion. I have learned to check the height of the king pin and 5th wheel. Because if it slides over that 5th wheel it is hell to raise that landing gear up under a loaded trailer. That is real life though.
When that happens just use the trucks air suspension and raise the trailer off the ground, lower the landing gear, drop the trucks suspension and it should clear the king pin..saves the back ache of trying to manually raise a loaded trailer.
great video!! even the most experienced drivers get out and look so no worries using the 3rd person view ppl are correct heavy haul is a pull up not backup drop. it's actually illegal to drive in the opposite lane of travel when making turns with any combo vehicle. I know it's just a game and the police are just radar cameras plus you don't have an escort driver to block traffic but in life you have to use the whole interaction without passing white and yellow lanes for opposite traffic. just a tip. and no those trailers not made to do a j hook turns. most heavy hauls have time restrictions based on load width height and length of the combo. some can not be hauled at night. I haul loads that are between 10 and 14 ft wide and I can only drive a half hour before sun rise and half hour after sunset. you did great but yeah to make more real escort drivers would be great. good to see those flags and oversize load banners! keep it up Jeff!!!!
Gotta pull it straight in. All the drops with these trailers don't usually make you back them in... but they want the trailers to at least be straight when you pull in.
Last 10 mins of video is just Jeff trying to park the trailer. Lol
I used to complain about driving my stock lifted 2500 because of the visibility. After driving a retired military Humvee, I never complained again since it was such a wide vehicle.

Only thing that could make it better is that you load your own trailers that's pretty tricky to do
With the heavy cargo dlc, all the drop offs are positioned to just pull in regardless of your parking difficulty setting. With the mod that overwrites the vanilla texture it's hard to tell that but just take my word for it lol.
The new truck looks awesome. Looking forward to the vlog. A sport is what I'd go for if I were getting a new truck but I'm happy with my 2002 Ram 2500.
And I've definitely noticed that ATS seems to stutter more with the recent updates.

The reason everyone had their headlights on at 7:00 minutes is because it is overcast out. DOT will pull you over if you do not have your headlights on when its overcast.

You are basically backing a set of Doubles and they are next to impossible to back up. Unless you deal with the same trailers for months you can never back them up! I drove a set of tanks and I had them for a very long time, before I actually could back them up and place them where I wanted too. I can tell you in real life, most drivers consider it impossible. I watched one guy back his up, where I was unloading, and that is how I learned to do it, because I saw it done. by the end of the week I could finally do it too. it is very hard to impossible to back them up unless you've watched someone do it. In the game you have an advantage. the outside view, if you practice it a bunch you will soon get it! But not in the dark!! This was a great episode Thanks! to the one post it supposed to make it easier, it does going forward your trailer does not cheat as much because of the doubles. but backing them up is next to impossible, most drivers would make sure it was a straight in at the delivery or not take it. or already have the needed skill to backup that type of trailer.

You don't reverse these long trailers in. The drop off points are designed for you to just drive straight in and park.

Pivot trailers are always straight in when dropping the load off at its destination and never backed in!
Honestly...I don't know what your issue is here. You are a damn good driver so that ain't it. It was in straight as you can get it. I am a regular ATS player and I bought the DLC the day it came out and have never encountered a problem like this before. Never had this exact drop-off, but out of all of the drops I have done I've had no issue. That's weird.
Smokeydabear911 well he had it really close and sounds like he figured out the issue in the description. Just gotta turn in and get the truck nice and straight nosed up against the wall.
I'm using Vipers 379 long frame Pete,now that is a challenge. So far I only hit two Ai cars out of 12 to 13 loads and they all were the super long trailers,with the dolly's at the rear as well.

At some of the Rail Express sites, the trigger is on the other side of the wall, so you were never going to park it.
It is possible to reverse this trailer without the stinger, into the advanced parking spot at this site, it just takes a while.

As has been said by others, straight-in is the way is the way to park all those heavy haul trailers. Maybe you could turn off that mod that changes the graphics of the unloading slot until you get the hang of how to park those trailers.
I have no problem backing up a trailer with a pivot point up front but the ones with the extra pivot point in the back are impossible to back up. So drop off points for heavy haul are always pull straight in. No not easy, you have to be precise. well and you can get screwed at this drop off point, those heavy trailer do spawn kinda in your path.
Heavy Hauls are suppose to be delivered forwards as you said but there is no turning required.
Does your truck have the 3.6 V6 or 5.7 V8 hemi?
Hey Jeff, you should get the headlight-bloom mod for ATS, makes the headlights, turn-signals and rear-lights of AI traffic more realistic and better visible at night from further distance, this might improve some more realistic effects too! :3

IRL those don't get backed up because of the jeeps (the little trailer in front of the big trailer). My guess is the modded truck being stretched made it not lock into the spot.

I love having those silver and black HP units in Arizona, they look so cool. I rarely see them IRL though.
The silver and black ones are state troopers and I have never seen one before. What I have seen is the white and blue highway patrol and those are nice.
Ahh, the state, I love the blue and white too, they're a very modern police car. I love how AZ is rockin' the explorer.

Hey that was a pretty smart idea for turning that trailer around.
don't feel bad bout the backing. Pivot trailers aren't designed to be backed but just pulled in. Hauled doubles in real life and had to unhook trailers to single back them in where they needed to be. I'm curious how SCS is gonna do with the doubles feature when it comes.

On the dual-pivot trailers we had in the military on 8X8 and 10X10 Oshkosh trucks, for reversing, we had trailer pins that kept the secondary articulation point straight (basically the pivot point was made inactive) for easier backing. I don't know if those kinds of trailers have such a thing.

Hello bro I got an issue on mine, I just purchased this dlc but I don’t know how to play it. When go to “search for a job” it shows the regular charges but it doesn’t show me the charges of the dlc. Do you know what can I do after purchasing the dlc in order to play???

The green markings for parking makes it easier to see what you are doing. You way over complicated it. LOL Oh, well, that was a lesson. I have had to F7 and get towed to try again.

Hey Jeff, I have been watching your ATS vids for a while and I've been curious if there is a mod for the vehicles that usually have warning lights and oversize load banners that follow the load and are in front of the load for helping the truck driver with warning people about the size of the load.

He uses a Logitech G27 wheel, a CSIO Technologies SKRS shift knob and TrackIR to control the camera.

you had to drive truck first into it that's how they want it. I found out it's easier to drive in and turn to the opposite side than make a huge turn into it. and to keep hugging the wall.

The modded truck may cause part of the issue, but it's literally a pull through for all Heavy Cargo loads
I run ATS with the new DLC. Drive straight in to the drop off. Be close to the left and it will take.

You have the truck and trailer and that little 2 axle trailer is called a "Jeep" it's purpose is too take the weight off the drive tires of the truck for heavy loads and some loads have a little trailer at the end that is called a "booster" it helps spread the weight on the trailer tires
The devs should add escorting vehicles to help you with trafficking.
@@RonDeSantis2028 no it's not that he did not want the escorting vehicles on it's because the developer has not added it to American truck simulator yet but has added it to the workshop for Euro truck Simulator 2.

American truck sim should have some over size loads that can only be carry by night due to traffic that will be cool
And have some pilots helping you in tight spaces or cops helping in traffic control

You should change up a gear at 1500 rpm not 2000. Thats why taking off is really slow and sounds sluggish

Gas and oil pipe lines and wells are all over in my part of Ohio we deal with oversized loads all the time some of the stuff they hall is insane earlier I saw a huge road scraper just like this one today
