I’ll try it. I honestly don’t see it working for me as a man with only 2 weddings under my belt and just under 1 year wedding experience, but maybe the FB groups just drained my optimism to E. Those Facebook groups as someone looking to be a second shooter are extremely annoying to say the least.
Hey Kenny, I highly recommend signing up as a second shooter but also making yourself available as an assistant to gain some experience and build relationships.
I am in San Diego and have never booked anything through ShootWithMe yet. I shoot 50-60 weddings a year for local studios so its not lack of experience. I hope its picks up eventually it is a great idea.
This is really awesome. I went and signed up as a second. It seems to have a wedding focus at the moment, which I personally have less interest in doing than other types of events, so I hope it expands more into other areas.
As of right now it does seem heavily marketed towards wedding photographers probably because it’s just easier of a concept hiring someone as a second photographer. But I do see options for hiring folks for all types of photography. I’d love to see this pick up and more people really start using.
That sounds great. This platform would be a great way for you to get some wedding experience if you ever wanted it and also some extra money assisting others as well.
@@andrewselbyphotography Thanks for that information. I really do hope this service catches on. I personally used it to higher a second once and it was hands down the best experience.
@@andrewselbyphotography, were you searching for videographers? If so, we just launched video coverage on ShootWith.Me and haven't publicly announced it yet. There are quite a few photographers available in your area and only the people who are looking to be hired will show in your results (not the people who exclusively hire through ShootWith.Me)
Subscription fees I guess are the way everything works now a-days. The nice thing at least is if you're getting hired $30 a month is nothing. Book 2 second photographer gigs and you can easily make $1000+
@@jbivphotography I hear yah. I may check to see if they do it month by month so I can give it a try for a few months and if I don't see any results, I can quit using that.
You don't need to worry about the subscription until you're ready to accept your second job offer. I am one of the founders. We don't want you worrying about paying for anything until you actually get real value first. One booking, on average, covers two years of your subscription. We did it this way so that people wouldn't need to pay a portion of the money they make from the jobs they book.
Service looks promising....Very important to note the cost.... Monthly subscription $20/month if looking to get hired as 2nd photographer....Lead photographer $35/month... Probably worth it if you get hired for jobs but mileage may vary
Thanks for the info. Do you know if there is a platform similar to this for event photography? I would be interested to sign up for that. I've shot a couple of events for friends and I really do like socializing with people in that atmosphere. Also, do you think a 35mm F1.4 to be a good investment for events or weddings for that matter. I do like the 40mm but it's F2.8 and I'm usually in low light situations, so thought F1.4 would be better. Oh, which camera you decided to get rid of or did you decide to just keep all of them? Anyway, great video as usual.
I didn't show it properly but this is for any type of photography. When someone is creating a job they have the option for the type of photography and some of the options are weddings, events, family, commercial, concert and more. So you might want to give it a try. If someone is looking for an assistant to do an event the job will show up.
I have tried this particular website for a while, however I didn't get any messages. I am trying to break into wedding photography once again, from many years ago. Currently my portfolio is void of wedding photos. I only have current lifestyle portraits, headshots, senior portraits etc.
Currently I think the hardest part with this platform is that more photographers looking for work need to get on here and realize how easy it is and use it. Once they start using it more there will be more work to go around for seconds and assistants.

Yup, I'm in Los Angeles and I shot 30+ Wedding the past year and have been on ShootWithMe for almost a year now and still got nothing through them.
Really cool platform, thanks for sharing about it John!
wish they had this for videographers
They do. When someone is looking for a second they can choose videographers, photographers, and even different styles of photography.

I tried searching for anyone within 100 miles of me and no one popped up, hopefully, this service grows quickly
What area are you in? I’m curious to see what area doesn’t have many people in it.

From my understanding you don’t pay the monthly fee unless you’re actually getting hired. I have to look into that a little further.
It's free to create a profile and accept your first job offer. You don't begin the subscription until you're ready to accept your second offer

A 24-70mm 2.8 will always be more versatile than a 35mm prime when doing event photography.

@@ThatManDWill Cool beans! I have one but was thinking I may need a prime with a wider aperture due to lowlight.

I don't believe it is. Currently it's just in the US.

This is great. If only it was available in the UK
Hopefully one day it will be. That would be awesome.
Soon!
@@nncdesch Any chance of this service coming to Europe, specifically Switzerland?
Is it worth trying when you live in Belgium and not America? probably not, right?
ShootWith.Me is only active in USA and Canada for now
I miss the HoneyBook Discovery tab 😢
I agree. That was nice.
