      @Meatball554 I am really late to this comment, but you should NOT do that !! No matter how cool of a party trick it is, you might do permanent damage to your joints over time, which can potentially lead to chronic pain when you are older

    • @catonyoutoob
      @catonyoutoob Месяц назад +1

      The bending back one is the normal. Only if you can bend them 90 degrees or more then it counts as hypermobility, according to the beighton scale which diagnoses joint hypermobility. Also 20% of the population is hypermobile in some joints, so as long as they are not unstable or causing pain, you are probably fine!

    Please people if you experience any pain with your HSD, don't overextend to show off or just to prove you are flexible! You'll end up like me with severe osteoarthritis beofre 40. I really wish I hadn't shown off so much as a kid and I was encouraged to do ballet moves and be super flexible in color guard and such. I really regret it as my joints are way more advanced than my age and I'll likely need a hip or knee replacement or both by the time I'm 50. Every overextension you do is like 2-3 times the normal wear and tear on your oints so you are going to realy feel it years down the road. Take it from someone who is 38 with osteoarthritis due to HSD!

      @@priyanshuraj2441 I have always had joint pain in my knees, elbows, fingers, etc. I’ve had arrhythmias & hyperhidrosis. My knees have been swollen & painful on & off since childhood. I’ve had issues w/ my fingers bending out of place & dislocating. I’ve had terrible spine pain and had to have a spinal fusion at 4 levels due to disc degeneration which is a result of my EDS. Pregnancy was terribly painful for me because of the joint laxity. I also had a placental abruption and went in for an emergency c-section. I lost a great amount of blood. I developed pseudo tumor cerebri as well during my pregnancy which I later found out can happen in people with EDS. I’ve had chronic migraines & fatigue my entire life. I can distinctly remember feeling weak, achey, & tired as a child & being unable to keep up with my peers. The list could go on and on but this is just some of what I have had to deal with in my 36 years of life. The worst part of it all was the not knowing exactly what was wrong with me & no one knowing how to help me. I suffered greatly for many years until I was referred to the right doctor who is still currently treating me.

      I am hypermobile in my arms from my shoulders to fingertips, and suspect that I *could* have EDS. To date, I don't think I've had any issues with my hypermobility to pursue whether or not it is anything deeper than just that, since you can have hypermobility without EDS. My doctor is good at listening to me, but I worry that if I go into an appointment announcing that I think I might have EDS, I will be blown off. Tips?

    I have all these, especially the "pushing" fingers backwards but without the pushing. I just have to "straighten" my fingers and they go past 2/3 of the way to 90°... BUT when you get tested they just look if the pinky bends 90°, one of mine's has a deformity so I can't straighten the whole pinky but the first part of the finger does bend 90° (I don't understand why they don't take into account my deformity) AND they test if you can touch your forearm with your thumb, which I cannot that 😮‍💨 so annoying

      One time when I was in high school, I was hanging out with friends and they got so grossed out because they casually discovered my "double-jointedness". I was leaning up against the back of a couch with my fingers flat and bending backwards at the base joint, a totally normal feeling/position for me, but completely off-putting to them. They actually asked me to stop. 😂

    I have joint hypermobility. I thought it was mostly in my knees and hips (feet able to turn backward, able to touch soles of my feet to my forehead, etc), but more and more i"m noticing osteoarthritis in my hands caused by the hypermobility...I have all of the signs you mentioned plus more, like bending my hnand to touch the side of my thumb to my forearm and my wrists definitely pop all the time especially when I twist it with my hand in a claw shape...I need tips on reducing or reversing osteoarthritis...I"m not even 40 and I've had arthritis since I was 18 and it's starting to get worse...finger joints are much bigger, hips have to be adjusted every day just to not scream...help!

    • @6Jenne6La6Flaca6
