For a first timer you really seen to have to process down. But I warn you, this is A very addictive hobby. Just proceed at your own risk. And about the windshield, look up bare metal hw, he has a vid to get rid of the fogging.
Nossa ficou lindo...fiquei impressionada com tanta perfeição! Tenho um carro do meu filho que precisa passar por essa transformação rs ele ama hot wheels e eu também ☺
Looks good. You don't need an air brush. There are quality spray paints available meant for mural artists with various pressures and finishes. Low pressure matte finish spray cans and custom caps for the cans too can turn out really even and smooth.
Good job on the Saab. Very interesting that there are no clips for the axels and they seem easy to remove and reapply. So that sheet of metal? keeps them in place?
Hi Yuri. Sorry if I spell your name wrong, I can't hear you clearly when you say your name. I'm interested in restore and custom the diecast toy cars, scale 1/64 but am not sure where to get parts like wheels and tyres. Do you perhaps know where to get these in South Africa as I'm scared to use these online buys. I'm from the Vaal Triangle, so Johannesburg is not to far from me. Please let me know if you know where I can buy these type of parts. Also maybe if you know where to get 2nd hand toy cars as they are expensive like crazy or do you know where to buy them for good prices? Thanks, I enjoy your videos.
Very cool Hugo. This is a hobby that I've been keeping my eye on for a while now. There are some really inspirational guys out there doing the HotWheels/Matchbox customization thing.
That's quiet neat for a first car. My first car looked like crap. It turned out so horrid that I couldn't keep myself from tearing it apart a few minutes after I had completed it to paint it all over again. Good job btw!
For a beginner, you did very good, but coming from an experienced diecast modifier, you should use primer before the color paint, so it has less chance of chipping.
Pragtig meneer, ek hoop jy sal weer een maak . Jy moet ook kyk Marty’s Matchbox makeover, vir tips Ons kom van Camperdown in Kzn.....waar is jy? Dankie
Great job man... ;) You did a very decent work - especially nailed the interior and tiny details around the car.. I have immediately subscribed and can't wait until the next video - keep posting and good luck.
Very well done my friend. Midas sells P100 polishing compound and it's relatively cheap, I find that it doesn't leave that black residue after polishing. I also enjoy restoration of the old Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. You should get a cheap basic HW and swap the wheels, will look even better. I look forward to seeing more restorations/customs.

Magnificent work my friend and good explanation very nice model I enjoy watching your video this is a pleasure for the eyes I am subscribed of France 🇫🇷👍 And I would be proud to have you as subscriber too 👍
Nice, for a amateur you have some great skills. The car came out excellent, in fact it looked extremely well....... but that window, original or not. Make's it look worse than it does.
You can sometimes restore fogged windows using rubbing compound, and a buffing wheel in a dremmel type tool, there are tutorials on youtube from a lot of Hotwheels restorers such as baremetalhw
Very nice! I have recently started restoring old die cast cars myself. I had this saab 9000 as a kid! Did you re tap the rivet posts? Or did you use self tapping screws? Keep up the good work, you are an artist!
as somebody that does this for a hobby,it was hard to watch,i suggest spending $100USD and buy a decent airbrush kit,may i suggest before attempting to do this again watching "BaremetalHW" youtube channel
lee armstrong yes and no. While I agree, if you don't need an airbrush and only occasionally restore a 1:64 car, don't get one. But if you get serious into modeling, whether matchbox or larger, an airbrush will give you far better control of your paint. Rattle cans are limited to the manufacturers mix ratio. And on smaller models such as this, you can lose a lot of details from the thickness of the paint. Just food for thought, it still looks very nice for a first time custom.
Lots of people have fond memories of their first car. Hotwheels and Matchbox brought out all sorts of cars, but they rarely look like your car did. You can use this technique and many others to build the car of your memories, for very little money.
I used to have a Saab 9000 aero in back.... Nicely done

Thanks, You are right, it is quite addictive. I'm already catching myself looking at other old die-casts :)
sa-maker - Hey man, great work.
I too recommend BaremetalHW, he is full of skill and helpful hints.
.
I love to see another SAAB restored!

Thanks, I'll check them out
Just starting up. What is the stand you are using to hold car in place whilst painting?
I think that was a piece of wire that I bent to server as a stand
The interior looks fantastic. If that’s your first treatment, you must be well pleased with the result.
Thanks, I really am :)
Good job on the Saab. Very interesting that there are no clips for the axels and they seem easy to remove and reapply. So that sheet of metal? keeps them in place?
Yes. It is my understanding that each make has its own way of attaching the wheels/axles. This was the way this car was assembled
As a fellow South African, this is really cool. Thanks for this video. I'm currently busy with my first restoration.
Enjoy! You should post videos or pics of your work. i'd like to see it.
@@samaker4 I will. Just testing it out first then I will do a video on one. Quite excited.

Thanks, I have only recently learned about it and I dig it.
Just a tip - get rid off the background music - it's far too distracting for us enthusiasts! Love your work! :)
thanks

Its Like Proton Saga Right
May i know what putty u use? The dark grey colour one.
It is a 2 part epoxy resin that is normally used on metal. It seems to have a metal fillings in.
good man,keep it up.
Thanks :)
Why didn`t you polish the windows ?
I did not have the equipment. I could do it still.
Te quedo espectacular te felicito desde chile un abrazo tienes mi like👍

Great restoration job .... I have a few cars I'm hoping to restore myself some time !
Go for it and let us know how it goes!

Thank you :)
Might I suggest aircraft stripper or another aerosol paint remover. It goes much faster and thoroughly.
That sounds like a great plan, unfortunately I did not have any on hand.
Great job for your first restoration !!!
Thanks :)

It's an awesome video on how to customize one of the hot wheels, matchbox and maisto cars, trucks, suvs and vans various to new.
Thanks!
This video was so inspirational
Good work mate
Thanks
great job, inspiring video
Thanks :)
GOOD JOB! YOU HAVE TALENT! AWSOME!
Thanks :)
What screws have you used?
It was a M4 screw that I had in my stock. I'm sure if you would look for one you will find a better one. This was what I had
Great Thank you
Do more please, this is amazing!
Thank you
This is fucking badass😂👍🏼 I’ve been recently collecting autoworld diecast & hot wheels! This is useful thanks bro!
No problem. I'm glad you liked it.
Good job man, subbed. 😁
thanks, I'm glad you like it :)
How do you open the wheels ?!!!
I did not open the wheels I left them as is.

Nice, for a amateur you have some great skills. The car came out excellent, in fact it looked extremely well....... but that window, original or not. Make's it look worse than it does.

For the interior, you can use black with red parts. That will look better than dark brown. (~_~)
Thanks, that sounds like a great idea.
Very nice! I have recently started restoring old die cast cars myself. I had this saab 9000 as a kid! Did you re tap the rivet posts? Or did you use self tapping screws?
Keep up the good work, you are an artist!
Thanks, I re-tapped the post but the smallest tap I have is a M3 which was a bit big.
sa-maker a 2-56 machine screw works well, a 1.8mm drill bit is the right size for the tap.
Howzit from Joburg
Howsiz bru!
veryy good job
You should Polish the Windscreen
But it's Swedish, not Polish
Very good works
Thank you!
I wish i can renew my kiapride taxi on as u see on my profile thats my old toy taxi car kiapride from 2009
Use primer before spray painting....
Thanks for the tip.
Not bad at all
Thanks :)
Ayyy that was a Malaysian car proton saga wow in Matchbox
if only the modern matchbox cars had opening doors.
Indeed
Pro tip, use paint STRIPPER not thinner
Good Idea, thanks

I usually just brush the thinner

Honestly it doesn't look good the paint is to thick you didn't painted properly and car is looking very dark
Bad choice of color
