While it's true especially now there are no flights domestically, we had no choice but to travel to outer islands via ferry. I've been there several times and even though it's quite complicated but the experience is truly rewarding.
Truly rewarding is the best way to put it. I loved the open ended nature of traveling Tonga. I just hope visitors see this and have no high expectations
You'll get a nice and refreshing view when you sail. Especially when travelling to the northmost islands like Ha'apai and Vava'u. The only main challenge here is when the boat pass through the seas where the currents are quite monstrous. It will be such a problem for seasick people.
@@aperezvoyages That is why the locals prefer to lay their mats and lie down on the floor. I tried that myself and it helped for a 12-24 hour sailing. It's actually fun with them sharing stories when we were all on the floor sitting and lying down.
Just make sure you have open ended time with that “cute” style of traveling as schedules are u predictable haha. I love how many islands Tonga has. And each island group is very different
@@aperezvoyages I mean, to put into perspective "cute", I was thinking more in a socio-economic sense. If Tonga was as bustling as Tokyo for example, that sort of hustle and bustle of transport (to me anyways) would seem rather attractive. It's like this huge "open-ended Venice" where ferrying is just a way of life and exportin/importin happens within Tonga. I think that's the beauty of it. But alas, their scheduling system is not a good one (obviously) but so is 80% of the world. Unpredictable? I think not. 😂 But thanks for the vid. Nice to see the islands again.
Haha meant no offense toward your comment. I appreciate the context actually. Ferrying is actually my second favorite way to travel after trail travel, and I have no high expectations when it comes to predictability. As much of my travels anyways! I loved being open ended in Tonga and the unpredictability of the ferry service just added to the experience. Even that ferry line that was cancelled entirely to repaint the boat in “Mate ma’a Tonga” colors 🤪
Mahalo nui Raju! Thank you for watching. I made some of my videos shorter to focus on the different things and experiences I've had on my journey. I do plan on some longer ones with some storytelling at some point once I get my microphone back ;)

Yea believe me I know 😁 I sailed from Tonga to Fiji on fairly decent seas but rockiness for 18 days 🤪

I think it's just neat that Tonga is comprised of so many islands. Having ferry connections makes it seem like a "cute" style of travelling.

What are main sources of income for Tonga?
I believe it’s mainly and mostly in agriculture
