Tonga is a unique country in many ways. It has never been colonized, it remains a Kingdom today, and it is known to be the Friendly Islands. But sadly Tonga was on my radar more recently because of the massive submarine volcano that exploded on January 15, 2022, causing apocalyptic storms, surges, and a tsunami that leveled parts of the island chain.
One year after the volcanic eruption, I traveled to Tonga where I got to witness its vast natural beauty, its age-old traditions, delicious meals, historic sights, and the deep seeded connection to faith!
In this Behind the Scenes (BTS) of Tonga, I provide a closer look at how to plan the journey, what to expect in terms of logistics (hotels, transportation, safety, etc.), where to go (esp. with limited time/budget), and how to maximize your time in the country!

Just to add to your experience! The beautify of Tonga is hidden in the northern groups of island.The Ha’apai group and Vava’u groups.

Exchange is better.. very few places except USD..I live in Tonga..u can bring ur atm but it will cost u to withdrawal everytime if u have to..it's not cheap if ur bank is not from Tonga. Hopefully that helps

No running on a South Pacific island with no shirt? Brah…when I’m in Hawaii or Samoa I spend 80% of my time with no shirt…never felt weird about it…but Tongans are beautiful people and will always respect their culture and norms…looking forward to visiting their island one day 🤙🏽
