A lot scarier a video than I was expecting - a near-eulogy! Thanks for the alert. I’m no expert at all, as I’m a total outsider, but it feels to me as if there have been internal forces trying to close down this park for a long time now.
Yes something isn't quite right! And I'm really surprised that nobody has stepped in to ask some questions given how much money was spent on reopening the park by the local council, lottery and fundraising!
@@DiaryofaRollerCoasterGirl And going way back, the Scenic Railway has been the victim of fire three times in its history. What many enthusiasts don’t realize is that most (not all but the majority) of coaster fires are the result of arson, and most cases of coaster arson are the result of an owner trying to get rid of a ride - either to get rid of a money-losing enterprise or simply to clear the way for some other more lucrative enterprise. The owner knows they can’t get away with tearing down a beloved ride legally, so they switch to illegal means. It can be no coincidence that the last major fire was soon after the Scenic Railway was granted protection for its historical status. Assumedly, the owners knew they’d lost a legal battle, so they switched to an illegal approach out of desperation. There really needs to be a proper investigation, as you say, into the management of this park. All the closures you list send a clear message of intent.
@@StamfordBridge you are spot on with regards to the last fire, except it wasn't the park owner, it was the guy who wanted the land to build flats on. The council ans dreamland Trust obviously opposed his plans, so he tried to take the law into his own hands. Thankfully I believe he is no longer with us.
@@DiaryofaRollerCoasterGirl Ah, there you go. I said I was just speculating as a total outsider (living a continent away). Thank you for the answer on the last fire.
So much potential for something that has been long lasting benefit to the surrounding area. Yet it doesn't seem like the folks in power are on the same page. As a result someone who does have an idea and large pocketbook would think twice about trying to make a go of it...the Park's local history, the coaster has been a crowd pleaser for years however the prospect of dealing with a whole laundry list of changes is daunting, would the Council aid such a process or stand as a gatekeeper. Margate maybe a COVID victim but most of the damage was self inflicted long before C19 came around, sadly.
I hope this COVID pandemic hasn’t killed dreamland it was just getting somwhere after reopening in 2015 and developing over the years , let’s hope it’s still standing and will open again in the future
There is something very alluring about closed amusement parks!! Cheers from canada

Is their anything left ? 😂
Why did they remove the mary rose playground? Nearly as sad as the bambi film scene where his mother dies.
I hope the park can remain operating, I've always wanted to try scenic railway after riding the one at Melbourne.
Cool xx
