@@KevinFrasard Guitars can be brutal but plucking thick strings with my fingers gives me more physical connection with the instrument. If that makes sense.
As a bassist who's been playing for the better part of 20 years and has been an Ibanez fan since day one, I gotta say that's a beautiful bass. I've actually been looking here and there for a bass much like that one. Really glad you found a good deal for that one and I am pretty positive you're gonna love it. Also playing with a pick is highly underrated, it's just one more tool in the musician's arsenal
I remember watching your "The Manifest" cover yeeaaaars ago and I remember thinking "Jesus Christ, this dude is a monster!" I was checking in on your channel from time to time when you pop up in my recommended and I always think to myself : "What a nice and wholesome dude." I gotta say man, you're the embodiment of a great person, I don't know you, but whenever I see your videos, I always smile and appreciate the passion and love you have for metal music, creating and playing instruments. For years, I was thinking how the metal community became this toxic, elitist wasteland full of unfulfilled people just hating on each other, but you proved me wrong. Never stop playing and creating, you're just a positive example of how you can love the art and sound of metal music and NOT forget how to be a wholesome and overall solid guy. Subscribed. Keep rocking dude!
I’ve had one of these for the past few years, definitely my favorite bass! The front is all blemished and the finish is worn down to the wood from slapping and being hard on it. It’s a monster of a bass
Awesome unboxing Kevin! I love you went fan fret, I bet stretching is easier with fan fret multi scales. You can never have enough Guitars and Bass Guitars! Own them all Kevin!
I used to play guitar back when I was in middle school on a first act Flying V haha. I took lessons but I didn’t really like my teachers so I took up drums instead. I’m feeling like playing again so yesterday I got my first real guitar, a Dean C350F.
I'm happy you're representing metal bass players with your channel. Seeing all these studio videos with nothing but guitar equipment gets boring after awhile.
Damn, wish I could buy more basses like this. But thats a awesome bass man! Congrats \m/ 10:17 Thank you for saying that, nothing wrong with using a pick on bass
Kevin for a tip for bass playing i felt this way comfortable on my ibanez bass, if you have your arm on the belly cut you can rest your hand pn the bridge on a way to wear you can play finger style a lot easier.Once you find the sweet spot to where you can do that, you might find it easier.
That's a sweet ass bass man. I have a Epiphone Thunderbird IV that fucking growls with the Thunderbird humbucker pickups! And I actually just bought my first guitar, I snagged one of Ola's new badass Killertone's before they sold out! Have fun beating on that Ibanez man!
Yours is so much nicer than mine, which is just the SR306EBWK. Even though mine has kinda junky stock pups, it sounds so damn sick, so I'm betting yours is great too. SUPER comfortable playing bass. Enjoy it, dude. I know you'll be putting that bastard to good use.
Got the same bass which is my 3rd bass I bought and have been loving it ever since. Still envy that color you have though, couldn't get it delivered in my country. Also there is nothing wrong with using a pick in a lot of cases it sounds more aggressive and that is not a bad thing
Funny enough, I had so many gripes with this model, I really really wanted to love it. But... for a grand, this one just wasn't for me. From head to tails, it was lackluster for a 1000€ Bass, but I wish you the best with it. =( My personal thoughts: 1. The fretboard at the head was not angled after the nut and the pvc nut has a sharp pointy edge, which makes it feel unfinished. 2. The .5 Inch more in comparison to a 35 scale bass did not make any difference for me. 3. On every picture in the internet (even private ones) it seems like the grain of the wood looks perfect. On mine, I could see from afar that it was a semi well matched 3 piece body with slight discoloration... 4. The finish looks beautiful, but I was too scared scratching it, which is really really easy. 5. The pre amp section was totally off bounds. Waay to aggressive, a slight bump in bass (+-16db!!) was enough to ruin everything ... 6. ...and still the treble was not enough to make the pickups sound bright instead of muddy, since it controlls the 9kHz band, which is useless.. Let's excuse it as "experimental", since this bass is from ibanez workshop series. 7. The knobs on this beauty are a total shame with that plastic look and feel. 8. The shape of the pickups require custom made ones if you want to change them out. I asked nordstrand and they told me it costs at least 230 bucks...
Dude, this bass is totally awesome. l just got the SRMS625EXBKF. Literally, my only gripe with the entire bass is that input Jack could be routed out just a little bit wider. There's a few guitar cables I can't use due to this issue. I think I put in 7 hours today just playing the guitar... So much! I'm just wondering if you've done an update video sharing some of your favorite settings for the preamp specifically for a metal there doesn't seem to be a lot of videos online showcasing for that genre
The electronics in the SRFF basses are pretty tame, some time down the line you could replace the pickups with something like Nordstrand Big Singles and an Aguilar preamp for something more aggressive, but honestly at the end of the day as long as you're happy with how it sounds there isn't much point mucking around with replacement parts. Love the content!
I bought the 6 string version and can't wait! I don't have sausage fingers like you but hey hopefully I'll be alright. People think multiscale shit is weird but really that's not true at all. After you try it, it makes way more sense.
hey Kevin - get some wall hangers or proper stands- those beautiful guitsrs you own are in danger of falling or being knocked over - their headstocks are thin - cracks can even just b hairline and cause problems for tuning.....take care .....u can spend $50 on amazon and get ever u need !!!.....great looking bass and sounds great !!!!.....
Hi Kevin, not sure how you practice or anything but if youre into using books I would definitely recommend the book “Extreme Metal Bass: Essential Techniques, Concepts, and Applications for Metal Bassists”. Its written by Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse and it gives quite a variety of awesome techniques for, you guessed it, metal bass. The exercises can be tricky at first but it it the best tool I have used for developing three finger picking technique. I think you would enjoy it man, give it a try.
bro, if you're looking for a gaming chair, "killabee" has some NICE ones for 150USD I'm 14 years old, ive been playing guitar for about 3 years now (alongside making swords, etc on my youtube channel), and I just recently found your channel and I love it! you got my subscription, keep it up!

You Thanks Kevin greetings from Chile
You too Kevin! Me and my girl just got engaged. Best Monday ever🤘

I've got the same bass. Amazing value. Plays, feels, and sounds way more expensive than it is. Have fun with it!
The neck and slim body is a damn goldmine too! Love at first sight brother!😍😍
I started years ago playing bass guitar. Still love it but I'm more into guitars now, so I'm happy you are playing both as well. Keep on rocking!
Lately I'm enjoying bass more than guitar, so I'm flip flopping as well haha

“Oh no don’t grab a pick that’s illegal, shut the hell up”. That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen any guitar you tuber say
It’s funny because
Using a pick is more accurate and better
Slapping it sounds weird and sloppy

I'm going to get myself one of those. They're really cool looking and will make me look good at band practice, plus I need more five string basses.
They're out there, and for a very reasonable price. This bass has everything going for it👌

That's a beauty. I recommend checking out Schecter basses in the future, very underrated basses in my opinion.
I was actually between this and that newer Stiletto with the Inferno Burst. Had the EMG 81x's in there too.
Their Apocalypse (the BEAUTIFUL red one!!) & the Damien!! \m/
JanderVK I just ordered up a stiletto stealth 5, I’m excited for it! I hope it doesn’t have the same issues my two Ibanez basses have (broken necks)
I like how wholesome and aggressive he is at the same time
I just got a bass kit and built it with my dad and i like the bass its fun
Overkill 's years of decay has great bass lines

great choice kevin!
Happy for you man. Glad to see a multi plAyer. You probably play drums to but probably break them.
Soon you'll start learning the drums, and you'll be your own band. Do you use recording softwares like Cakewalk or Ableton?
I'm stuck between Audacity and Reaper for now. Ableton I'm in the process of learning, but keep going back to what I know and doesn't overwhelm me.
Ill take a look at reaper!
