Ditto re the downpipe. Even for the small amount you bottled I would have still purged with CO2, better to be safe. Saison is one of my favourite beers and have been following David Heath for a long time. I glad to see you made this one as it has been on my to brew list for ages and my setup is very similar to yours out on the verandah. Cheers😀 🍺
Good to see you cleared out that downpipe during the brew day! 😆 I'm enjoying your videos, good stuff. I am wondering if the darker colour and sweeter taste you have from the bottles may be due to oxidation. I bottle into 750ml PET bottles, and have taken to squeezing them when bottling. Squeezing the liquid right up to the top then screwing on the cap means less oxygen in the bottle. It's a small improvement. There is still the issue of minimising oxygen contact during the transfer of course. Keep up the great content. Cheers, mate!
Yeah, I'm still figuring out camera angles so I don't get that stuff and stop chopping myself off. There are a couple of videos coming out where I'm only half in frame 🤷🏼♂️ I've just purchased a bottle filler so I can purge oxygen from the bottles before I fill them. Worth the investment seeing as I am entering more comps now.
I'll eventually forgive you for that drill sound 😂
I promise not to use it again :D

I'll be trying it again, but I'll put in a fraction of the adjuncts so the yeast shines through. I have a bottle filler now so I'll be able to purge.
