What Is SOFT LIGHT? | Soft Light vs Hard Light

So-called soft light is created when the transition between the bright areas and dark areas (light and shadow) are wide. In this video, I demonstrate this using some small 3D foam shapes.

Thanks Ed. Do you have any suggestions for using soft lighting for self tapes? I have two 30x30 soft boxes. However, Im thinking of a silk scrim instead to give it a softer look. My apartment is really dark with no sunlight
