Amazing how one SINGLE BEAT can define music for several decades. Love it!
I mean you and I both 100% grew up with this beat throughout our entire lives ... it's crazy!

This as well as the "Amen Brother" Break by The Winstons. Killer video man.

He’s the very reason I play the drums 🪘 ❤ Period!!!! His rhythms and drummers played such a important part in his music/ sound! Kudos to the legendary drummers Clyde Stubblefield and John” Jabo” Starks !
Clyde and Jabo are timeless for a reason!

It's slowed down and used in Geroge Michael's "Waiting For The Day" as well. Dimitri, thank you for this wonderful video!

WHEN I WAS A KID in the 70's. James Brown was everywhere and meant everything to everyone in the black community. His music in the neighborhood was played all day long by everyone in every household for years. He was the man we all looked up to for pride and joy. There hadn't been anything out there like his music ever, before he came along. It was the most unique and creative different sound that you can imagine at that time. We thought he was like the GOD of all soul music and touched by the hand of God to create such musical hits. He was my inspiration to take up several musical instruments. I loved that man, even with all his flaws in his personal life, he was still, in general, a great human being with a ton of God Given Talent. R.I.P. JB! You are missed fosho!
Informative and very interesting.
thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Enjoyable as always. Thanks for teaching us again. 🙂
Ah I’m so glad you liked it!!
Informative content, great cuts, thank you! Keep it all coming!

That version of 'Please Please Please' live of JB and his band is from The T.A.M.I. Show. One of the GREATEST musical Concerts EVER, from 1966 I think. SEARCH IT OUT if you like or LOVE Music. The lineups that played at the Santa Monica Auditorium are ALL LEGENDS. Nothing will ever surpass this concert. NOTHING.
Sting, in the Police, sang about it on "When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around".
I absolutely agree - I was BLOWN away by this performance!
Psh psh!! I love it.
Ha!!! Thank you! 😜
Nice video!! Thank you for this info!!! The ghost notes & little high hat chokes makes this groove sooooooo killer!!
Thanks man!! Yeah those open hats in particular make this really special ✨✨✨
Din't Amen Break came first, and I think it's even bigger.
Also I remember reading or hearing, that James wanted a song that would be sampled. And on that context it sounded like he was kinda doing this for royalties.
I didn’t touch on the subject of royalties but I just made the James Brown sample video before this one! And an Amen Break video is in the works to release very soon :)
Yes, it's still a good break! This video kinda made me want to do something with it and same happened with when I watched your Levee Break video earlier. Have a sub. :)
Love your work Mr Fantini
That means a lot coming from you brother!!! Much love! ❤️
This has nothing to do with the subject of the video but what is that sitting on top of your hi hats? Thank you 🙏 I appreciate the historical information about James Brown and his FUNKY DRUMMERS!😊
I use a Toca seed shaker here… pretty sure that’s the name!
I'm sure Sublime use this beat as well in Scarlet Begonias
Shout out to the late great Sinead O'Connor who used it in " I Am Stretched On Your Grave"......from her album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got".
Yes!!!!
Ha ha was that a reference to Bernard Purdie’s lesson on 16th ghost notes?
You know your history!!!! 🏆🏆🏆
One of my favourite lessons! Also, great video!
Ah thank you so much that really means a lot!!! 😂
@@Pit_Canary ah thank you so much!!!!! That means a lot
Music is one beat ! Everything else is just a subtraction from that and on different time meters !
I won't disagree with you!
