I have bought Smart Paper. Just because I’d have to pay 60% more for remarkable with folio and pen ( and it’s with referral code for RM2) 😅 Smart Paper is fine for what I need it for- take notes.
I bought Lenovo for notes, exellent pen experience and reading. I have sideloaded my bookapp, from where I can load books directly, no need to use epubs or pdf files. Lenovos backround is more white than may other einkdevices as example boox note tab c3, which has gray backround and dead pixels. Why this kind of device should act as normal tablet, because every cheap tablet is by far better most ways than any einktablet. But sometimes more is less.
I have the Smart Paper and you can just sideload apps directly on it without the play store? I have plenty of apps sideloaded on it and all of them work fine. I would recommend to test stuff like this out before just stating that its not possible to have apps on it. Compared to the Boox devices, the Lenovo has a way better writing feel and build quality. I had the Ultra Tab C and it was just crashing and the software is really laggy. Same goes for the Note Air+ 2
Huh. I did state that I sideloaded apps. And showed them too. Did you watch the full video. I just said it doesn't have an app store. BTW. Does your Lenovo crash in Google drive? Also, if you put CPU-Z on it what processor does it say you have? Thanks bud!
Any indication that the Smart Paper would work with Android version of Microsoft Intune / Company portal to allow for syncing with work's Office 365 environment?
I’m glad to see the thoughtful and critical review! Sometimes these things are not worth buying, which is a shame. I’m still stuck with the awful Kobo Elipsa.
thank you for all the hard work you put in this videos, im a college student and im a science major. and i just recently got the Tab Ultra C and i have to say that its incredible. for an E-ink device i got to say that its an amazing tablet, and after watching a bunch of your videos i decided that it would be the best one to buy. i also got lucky and got it on the "sale" that had the keyboard case with it. once again thank you for the hard work and hope you can keep doing this incredible reviews
@@KitBetts-Masters will do, atm working on getting everything I need and apps loaded into the tablet. Still trying to figure the best apps to put, and how to really use it, to its fullest. Probably by the end of next month will comment again on how it holds up on my first month back for my college classes. :3
@@KitBetts-Masters I hope you're having a good day, and well it’s been a bit over 1 month of use with the Tab Ultra C and I got to say everything you pointed out in the videos is true, I have been able to use the tablet without any issue and I have actually loved reading, taking notes and just being able to use it over my laptop whenever I don’t need any of the apps the school ask of me, I did have to get used to the tone down colors given that in your video and other peoples videos it looks brighter but after a while I got used to it, that aside the battery life has been pretty good given that I am usually in a place that is well lit and I have no problem when is dark given the lights on the tablet work incredible to be honest. it has help not put so much strain in my eyes and that is something I am incredibly grateful for. but I have had some problems with it, mostly with boox given I have brought up the issues, I sent them videos and they just told me I’m the problem not them and I wouldn’t be as mad if they hadn’t made me wait 2 weeks just to receive that answer. but I’ll write what my problems have been or at least the ones that have cause me the most issues. 1) one of the corners or well better said the top left area of my screen, feels incredibly scratchy, if I’m writing on another area and move into that one I can hear the scratching, I thought it was me and the angle of my pen I played around with angles and pressure and it kept going, I changed nibs and everything yet the feeling is still there, I been trying to ignore it but I take a lot of notes and I can feel that and its incredibly bothersome. 1.5) also I have the keyboard case so when I take notes I place the tab on top of my folder pad or a good rigid surface to take notes(I make sure the camera isn’t pressed or anything) and I can hear the body make a straining noise, it sound like I’m about to break it, I been doing my best to make sure not to put pressure and be gentle but it has been a concern. 2)I am a chemistry student and I deal with a lot of papers, I been trying to use the scanner and it has given me very blurry pictures, I do have it on HD and well it shows blurry, I have learn I can open and close the app and after a few tries it works, what annoyed me, is they asked me to send a video and well I did, I have the tab on one hand and the phone on the other and they said it was my fault because I shake. and the shake is me trying to hold the phone and the tab straight to scan a paper. but oh well 3) and this is just with the keyboard case, it has started to develop small bubbles on its covers, I don’t know how they have appeared but I have been carrying the tab on its separate pocket and yet it looks like it has starting to lift the skin(again small bubbles I notice it because I’m looking at it all day) but I’m worried it won’t last as long. that’s about my report of a month and a bit more from a college student. please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix some of my issues and if I’m just being too picky, but it was expensive, so I do have a higher standard for the tab ultra c. That aside thank you for your time and once again with my problems aside I am happy with the use I been able to give the tablet.
I really love the format of this video. Very quick and precise. Just a word about WPS: Seems like all Chinese products just install it, I have read about writers losing their docs or getting flagged after writing against the official CCP line. I would not trust to use this suite.
Hi there, can you please recommend an e-ink device for 1) Note taking/paperlike 2) Kindle Read 3) Warm Light 4) Web browser/reader 5) Ideally no subscription
How does it do for reading music sheets (And sorting them in folders)? thats all i need it for. Theyre PDFs. Does it have bluetooth? Were sendkng sheets between eachother. If not are there any other ones for under 500? (This lenovo one is currently on sale for 300)
I think the "just good enough" comment sums up the Smart Paper pretty well. The only thing that I think stands out to is that the price is actually really nice for the hardware that you're getting... but the software really is awful. This is the sort of thing where I wish a company took a page out of another company's book; imagine the SP hardware with Supernote's software!
What's the battery life like? The only use I could see for this is an air gap for intellectual property or health services. It would be kinda bulky if they added their proprietary physical security key in it so they limited the connectivity instead. This is definitely for enterprises that compete with AWS or Alaphabet tech as well. It's for someone looking to give employees more freedom without paying for yearly licenses to the top three (.NET, Alphabet, and AWS). Even some national labs are looking to trim those fees as budget crunches come. But, letting everyone have different protocols is a no-go. Letting people have iPads is too expensive and requires Apple to have some foot in your more sensitive items. *Edit* Maybe for law offices, too.
Smart paper nibs replacements. I received my smart paper today. After ordering it I realised that Lenovo does not sell replacement nibs for the stylus. Asked Lenovo, and I'm sure many aren't surprised that the customer service is absolutely garbage. As it happens, I own a Wacom pro pen 2, with some spare nibs. It turns out the nibs for that Wacom pen is pretty much the exact same shape and length as the pen for the smart paper. Additionally, I have both plastic and felt nibs for the Wacom pen and the felt nibs feel great on the spart paper. I hope this helps! And if any Lenovo staff read this I hope you know your companies support is dog shit and you should all feel bad.
Hi, can you make a video about how the kindle scribe works with cientific pdf? I havent seen a video like that in youtube, it seems the kindle is quite bad with pdf
Hi, many thanks for all your videos 👍You mentioned that we can have work mode office apps separate from home office apps - so is it possible to establish Android for Works / Microsoft Intune on Boox Tab C device?
@KitBetts-Masters thanks! looks like Boox has delivered on the promise it made on its website (its statement last year: "Boox e-readers don't support work or school accounts, and the work apps such as Company portal and InTune. We will find ways to optimize in the near future"). But I just found information that there may be another problem (also on Boox website, from one of the users): "I could install all the necessary apps and connect to. But when creating the account within Outlook, OneDrive or Teams, it says my company profile expect to have at least the security patch Android-2022-06-01 installed...". Well, that damn Android 11...
Ebooks that are not offered in colour, or are still being offered as something decent, deserve to be completely removed from the public, especially remarkable, who despite having brutal profits even thought they were still ripping off the customer by inventing subscriptions. Lenovo is a fair pass mark. Please, let's give more coverage to companies that look to the future and to COLOUR!
@KitBetts-Masters Thanks for your interesting review. You seem to have recommended two different devices for reading/annotating academic papers. but I did not manage to catch which were the devices - could you be so kind as to write a reply with those models? I am interested in a device where it is easy to read and annotate a PDF document and then share that document over the cloud, for example, to my computer with notes that would help me program or write a proposal. What would you recommend?
Why people buy these E ink in the first place is to take notes . the only requirement is make lightest and thin as possible. Why we need all these other rubbish. Im happy to get one just for taking notes and email only for a $200 .If we need to doing something else use a smart tablet or ipad it 100 time better
Indeed, well, they did! Still though, it makes sense to offer choice. Especially as browsers are web app hubs, for us all now. I rely on what google chrome remembers about me!
I completely agree with you. From everything I've read and seen so far, including from your colleague Voja, the Lenovo is a misdevelopment. It still needs a lot of updates to make it productive. I prefer my Remarkable 2, it's designed for writing. And it does that excellently. And then of course the Boox Tab Ultra C. Highly recommended. A nice test from you. Compliments. Nice greetings from Germany. Bernd
Why you hate on Lenovo 😂 it's as if your marketing the other brands we're not fools And the fact that there are only 48 comments means your deleting comments that are like my commen 😂
Hello, no I never delete comments unless they are abusive. No problem with Lenovo at all, they make great hardware, but in this case the software side of it is so under baked as to be laughable.
And we're in 2024 sales of these screens went dramatically up over the last two years, so they might consider improving it so they're is no use buying a more expensive one right now don't you.think?

Yeah, and I didn't really touch on all the weird subscription model stuff like translate and text to switch, and the exorbitant prices for those!
Color e-ink displays still have some major disadvantages and not everyone wants that. So I'm happy that there is some choice here.
